  1. I was offered a code number representing "extra savings" using "Express Deals" $89 for 4star Wangfujing. Had a fair idea I would get the Crown Plaza hotel. All up for 3 nights I paid $308 which included (15% tax)$15 travel insurance and the "extra savings" of a further 10% off so I really got the hotel at $80.10 Don't know if I would have got it for less if I had bid but it sells for $111 on Priceline on a nightly basis and the cheapest hotel booking site outside PL was booking.com at $139 per night. Pretty pleased. :)
  2. Just an update threuare. priceline refunded me as I found this hotel on booking.com cheaper than I bid for it so contacted customer service and all up the hotel cost me $77US inclusive costs...not bad. M
  3. I think you have had a super win. Zurich is very expensive. I looked extensively in Zurich for one night about a month ago with good connections via train to the airport for a 1pm flight the next day. Everything pretty ordinary was mega expensive. In desperation I ended up booking on the accor website as a member and got a convenient very ordinary hotel close to the airport the Ibis Zurich Mersse at 115CHF. You have done lots of people a favour in posting your win. The Marriott rooms are always good with geat bedding. Wished I had waited. Maybe next time. M
  4. Won this hotel on my first bid. Hoping to get the Hilton............. A bit disappointed as it is bookable at a bit less on many hotel booking sites including booking.com, some rates included breakfast too! Its not where most of the 4 star hotels are around the Central train station. Its a bit out of the way and doesn't get great reviews and supposedly next to a building site with ongoing construction -and the advertised train to hotel shuttle is not offered anymore. All up it was $113US. I had a bit of a winge to PRICELINE about the price and location etc and they have offered to refund $35US back to me as well as a $50 holiday package voucher which I can't use by the 31st Dec 12. I thought the $35 will at least cover the transport to and from central station. Could have booked Hotel Berna, near the train and highly rated on Tripadvisor for much the same price. Arriving late so it will be OK for one night. Used PRICELINE Quickquote on this website.
  5. Sorry Guido PL didn't ever get back to me.........I can tell you tho the Hilton was a great stay.....pretty hard to get anything now it seems........M
  6. Sandeak, In five star hotels in Singapore children stay free in their parents room providing they can use the existing bedding. I would contact the hotel and ask about the bed configurations. You could possibly ask for a King or Queen if you wish for one room and for the second room - check if they have 2 double beds or 2 queen beds in the second room. They will allow you to sleep 1 adult and 2 kids under 16 without having to pay any more providing the kids aren't huge teens and are willing to share one of the doubles or queens in the room. Of course the hotel will always prefer to put another single in the room and charge you the extra money. Wotif will probably show you room configuations. I guess its only a hundred dollars saved over 4 nights however providing you are comfortable its better in your pocket. Happy holiday :) FYI. Quite a few people travelling with 2 adults 2 kids go for just one room (as hotels are a bit expensive in SG) with 2 doubles - (doubles or queen sized beds) and sleep 4 to the room without paying any extra fees. Swissotel Stamford, Holiday Inn City View Premier rooms and Novotel Clarke Quay and Royal Plaza on Scotts (with a little bluff and a request to the Manager will gen allow this) Some of these rooms are 32SQ metres which is not too snug.
  7. They wish to check in 24th December check out 7th January, so are looking at a fairly long stay. Maybe a good idea to change hotels a few times to get a better experience of the city. Any advice appreciated. Thanks, M :)
  8. Singapore seems to be getting a bit more expensive in June - There are a lot of good locations in SG - anywhere close to the MRT (train) - taxis are pretty reasonable in SG) Orchard Rd , Bugis (Intercontinental is the only 5 star I know at Bugis) , Town Hall MRT/Marina Bay area or Clarke QuayMRT/Riverside - I would check out tripadvisor - post your question to the forum of experts - they will probably be able to tell you what hotels hotwire are offering. Also checkout wotif.com (all taxes 17.5% in SG are included in price )- some reasonable hotel rates - Rendevouz - also Carlton is $190 on readyrooms.com. Royal Plaza on Scotts is the second hotel on wotif and is a great deal. maybe a bit more than you wished to pay but close to lots of reasonably price food options like the Food Republic at the ION Building .Tripadvisor are also good at guessing the mystery hotels on wotif. We have just returned from SG - got half the stay on Orchard through Priceline and half stay at Town Hall area. Check out also Agoda ....sometimes Priceline just does not deliver................... maybe this may be of help M :)
  9. Hi Everyone, My son & girl want to stay in NYC for New Years Eve. They are doing lots of reading on New Years Eve in Times Square. Any tips re: reasonably priced Priceline/Hotwire hotels/ hostels - advice appreciated. Thanks, M :)
  10. Is this topic title correct. Seems to me that it was won at $110?
  11. Have a look at Priceline Singapore Site - name your own price - They say under best deals of the week - 5 star City hall/Marina Bay area - won at $120SG. Maybe its worth a look or an enquiry.........I find they get back to you pretty quickly also is staying 3 nights a possibility..... wotif.com have a minimum 3 night stay at $120SG a night for 2 persons for your dates at Hotel RE.......................................
  12. I think prices in SG have gone up since your last win. Several people have won the 5* Conrad at about $107 plus costs a while back. I think Mrs leon got a pretty good deal at $86 plus for the Holiday Inn Atrium........
  13. I had the same problem as you for early March - kept trying but couldn't jag anything 5 star midweek Town Hall/ Orchard areas at $US110 - $112. Scared to try 4 str Orchard as I don't like the Orchard Parade Hotel. I won part stay - weekend at Hilton Orchard $US101 plus costs taxes etc. all up came to $US125. No its not cheap so got Grand Park City Hall on a deal with full buffet breakfasts at $162 AUD inclusive of 17.5% taxes.- Its not the Conrad but a great location and not too bad rooms - staff & service get pretty good wraps...........Have you had a look at the qantas website hotels? They were doing some great deals with club lounge all day access and free room upgrades at some hotels - Carlton - GPCH - until March 31. readyrooms.com provides the rooms on the qantas website - I think that their own website is a bit clearer and offers the same deals however with Qantas you don't have to pay straight away wheras readyrooms.com you pay as soon as you book.
  14. It seems that 5 star is a little difficult to get in March........Has anyone noticed the 3 star Merchant Court - It really is quite a reasonable 4 star - I stayed there about 10 years ago -right on Clarke Quay MRT - location P/L Riverside only 3 star hotel in this location - great hotel for kids with fab pool and slide - great location- rooms are ok - not stunning however close to supermarkets, Brewerkz Boutique Beer eatery - popular and reasonably priced and location is right next to Chinatown...... I think the best price on sale I have seen it for is $AUD 172 - generally about $AUD 210 plus taxes 17.5% - pretty good if you could get it at a reasonable price........worth checking on TA
  15. PPS You can match up the station names with MRT Stations shown on hotel maps. Orchard Rd is the Centre of Orchard Rd the Main shopping district, City Hall, Clarke Quay........ http://www.smrt.com.sg/trains/network_map.asp
  16. MRT stands for Mass rapid transport - yes, its the railways system in Singapore - it is a super system thats gets you to just about anywhere on the island including all major tourist attractions in SG in a matter of minutes....
  17. Hi, As no one else except the moderator has replied to you I will add my bit..... By your win you have thrown a new hotel into the mix that has not been won on Priceline before. We stayed at the Goodwood Park many, many years ago, the grounds, spacious rooms and facilities were good. Overall it was a good experience and I'm sure it has had many room upgrades since then. It is listed 30 in popularity on tripadvisor Singapore hotels so not a bad score. Its just that there are so many Singapore hotels to choose from and as its a heritage style hotel its not as popular as some of the newer hotels. We have stayed in Singapore about 6 times over the past 35 odd years - and stayed at the Merchant Court about 10 years ago when it was first opened. It was nice, the rooms are smallish.....not anything to rave about except for the location at Clarke Quay and the pool area were great. With the great MRT train system you are quite well located to everything and your hotel is close to Orchard Rd so not a bad location. I agree you did not save much by the time you paid the fees and taxes .... however you will probably get a nice room - and if it does not meet your expectations I just take my bags down to the foyer and tell them at the front desk that I am not happy and ask for a room change....... I look at the room/rooms offered and don't move my luggage until I like the room. I am always super polite - it usually works and I get a great room. In Singapore hotel staff like to please. We are staying at the Hilton on Orchard for 3 nights won on PL for $101 +fees + taxes as part of our next holiday and I have a pretty good 4/5 star hotel for the other 5 nights with a fully refundable booking with breakfasts at $160 cancellable if I choose to try Priceline bidding again. Just my theory: I do believe that it doesn't matter in SG whether you request Orchard Rd or Marina Bay - it you hit the right price you get the PL "best deal" in either area knocked down to you. I will wait until the 5 star "best deal" shows Marina Bay and will probably have a go at bidding and hopefully may jag the Conrad at a good price. Don't stress and hava great holiday! I looooove Singapore!!! Matty :)
  18. Bid Siam Square 4 STAR - Wanted this hotel good location - gets good reviews. Bid $45 plus PL rewards money of $10 per night bonus. No surprises won at $55 pn. Probably may have got it for less however didn't want to want to waste time for $5 a night and Au$ is strong. plus taxes & charges 48.32 Pleased :)
  19. Just thought I would post a conclusion. Didn't want to wait any longer to book..........Found an amazing deal on Dizzy Goat.com - Grand Park City Hall Hotel - nice hotel & nice rooms - 5 star hotel - including hot buffet breakfasts - probably not quite as good as the Conrad but I prefer the location - $US156 per night all inclusive of charges and taxes of 17.5%.... and the booking can be altered if need be.... So we have 4/5 nights at GPCH and 3 nights at Hilton - won by bidding earlier on......... Good luck to other bidders trying for Singapore - Priceline lost me - as I believe Priceline reads this website i'll offer a suggestion - maybe when they lift their game and deliver decent Singapore maps with hotels in their correct zones and you win a hotel in the area you choose to stay I may return.....Just my opinion..................... Very pleased with my deal :)
  20. Firstly Congratulations! Surprised not! The Conrad Centennial is definately a Marina Bay Hotel and it was won it when Orchard Rd area was added. I think after my experience when I selected Marina Bay. I won the Hilton which is smack in the centre of Orchard Rd. My theory is for a 5* hotel it doesnt matter what areas you choose except perhaps Bugis (no history of a 5 star win - methinks its the Intercontinental as its the only 5* in the area) if you hit the correct money bid you will win Pricelines best 5* hotel deal - which at present shows 5 star Marina Bay which is where the Conrad is situated - in my case when I bid - the best 5 star deal was on Orchard Rd - even tho' I did not choose Orchard Rd I hit the money and I won the Hilton. If you look at a Pricelines map they have the Centennial in the Financial district! CRAZY!! Probably $107 buys you a weekend and maybe $117 will get you a weekday at the Conrad at present.
  21. Showed best deal Marina Bay 5* Trying for Conrad Centennial had $50 bonus credit so $6 per per night x 8 nights Started Marina Bay 5* bid $95(+$6) = $101 no success added Financial, East Coast and Riverside bid up to 105(+$6) = $111 - no deal At present PRICELINE have a negotiated special deal 20% reduction in tarriff - Conrad $211 & Hilton $239. Don't know how long this will last or if it makes a difference to bid prices. Will try again in a couple of weeks..................... :)
  22. Best deal showing Marina Bay 5 star. Started at 75 Marina Bay added 3 Zones Financial, Riverside and East Coast up to 87 no luck. My husband tried up to $95 - no go.
  23. Thereuare it says Orchard Rd. Maybe I made a mistake? I will never know.....and customer service has not replied and I have sent a couple of emails.... I have accepted the win - good hotel - good price - and it will fit in with our plans. I will have a crack at the Conrad I think when the best deal shows Marina Bay 5* for my other 5 days.... I appreciate your help and hope my little piece of humour (yes thats how we spell it downunder) made you laugh. Cheers M
  24. Hi Thereuare, My point is that the Hilton Singapore is smack bang in the centre of Orchard Rd for a long as my tushy has pointed south! It is not a Marina Bay Hotel! Yep I am happy with Hilton Singapore for 3 nights but want the remainder of the stay - 5 nights on Marina Bay. Now if I bid again Marina Bay 5 star are they going to throw in a 5 star from Bugis (Intercontinental) or will I get the Hilton again or some other random hotel from any area they choose......... thats the question Cheers M
