  1. Successful bid of $85 for Hyatt Fishermans Wharf. Spent several days bidding between $65 and $75 using free bids. Decided it wasn't working, so today I bid $65, $75, $80, and then $85 and won. Still feel I've got a greate deal. Hotwire wanted $119 and hyatt website wanted $156. I also used the zip code '99999' to supply my non-US address which worked. Thanks
  2. Cheers for the info I'll check it out. I am aware of adding extra locations to my search which gives me 3 bids per 24 hours. I've only been to San Francisco for 24 hours. I did do a lot in that time but I can't say I know the area very well. I do remember taking the cable cart from Fishermans Wharf and ended up on the street with all the shops (Market Street?). I walked down market street heading away from the bay bridge and I soon found myself in an area where I felt uncomfortable and it was the middle of the day. Walking back to the train station at 9:30pm was also interesting. Gallus50, What is your opinion on Fishermans Wharf at night time? I was looking for a lively area day and night, where there are lots of things to do, places to eat, bars, music etc... Thanks
  3. Before I start, this deal cannot compete with Priceline but it can on occasion be cheaper than hotwire prices. Try looking at Expedia.co.uk as well as Expedia.com. Expedia.co.uk has all the same US hotels but with a greater discount. Whenever Expedia.com is offering 15% off, the british version of the same site offers 30-50% off. I found this to be the case for many hotels in San Francisco. I have not checked hotels outside of San Fran but I believe it applies to any location. This discount requires stay duration 3 nights or longer. This deal has been around for several weeks now. Just checked, there is an option to pay with a non UK credit card on the UK site. Example pricing. San Francisco Fishermans Wharf 5/28/09 - 6/1/09 (4 nights) 4* Argonaut Hotel Argonauts website (15% discount) $937 Expedia.com (15% discount) $957 Hotwire.com $703 Expedia.co.uk (40% discount)
  4. I almost booked Serrano Hotel last week. It looks like a really nice hotel but after reading a few trip advisor comments, several people mentioned the area wasn't safe at night. Even one of the managers' responses said "we make up for bad location with great customer service". The manager admitting its a bad area has really put me off. I appreciate you taking the time to help though.
  5. Really want to stay at the 3.5* Hyatt Fishermans Wharf. But was ready to accept the 3.5* Sheraton Fishermans Wharf. Looking through previous posts lots of people getting the Hyatt for $65 for similar travel dates as mine. My offer was rejected at $65 and $69. I will keep trying
