  1. Looking for a 3.5-star hotel in Goodyear/Litchfield/Glendale or West Phoenix/Avondale for the Fiesta Bowl.

    Tried Name Your Own Price for 3.5-stars (and up), rejected at: 70, 80, 87, 90, 97, 107, 112, 117

Did a new search for 4-star with Downtown Phoenix added, was rejected at: 70, 80, 90, 95

Saw that there was a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $97, took that instead, got the Hyatt Regency (which also does not have a resort fee).

  2. Bidding for a 4-star hotel in either Scottsdale or Downtown Phoenix.

    • $65 in Scottsdale (countered/shown other options)
    • $71 (added Downtown Phoenix) (rejected)
    • $75 (added Apache Junction) ACCEPTED

Each room has a $20 resort fee which includes WiFi and parking.

Searching shows that this used to be a 2.5-star motel and reviews are skeptical of the "renovations" that elevated it to 4-stars. It also appears that their standard rooms do not offer a 2-bed option.

I'll update with a shortened review once the stay is completed, but I'm not too excited for this "boutique" hotel.

  3. Started at $60/night.

Saw that Hotwire had a 4* hotel in the area for $115.

Bid up to $115. On my final $115 bid, got the Gaylord Texan, which, IMO, is considerably nicer than the other 4* properties in the area.

Unfortunately, even though it's labeled as a 4* hotel, they still hit you with a $30/night resort fee (plus $17/night self-parking), so my total cost ended up being close to $190/night with taxes, resort fee, and parking.

  4. Excellent deal for this W property. While lake view is a paid upgrade, I'd ask for a high floor on the other side as you may get at least a partial view of the surrounding area.

Enjoy your stay and let us know if you have any city questions.

Thanks for this bit of advice. I didn't even have to ask, the desk agent gave me room 3201 with a great view of the city.

The lake view from the elevator vestibule was amazing. Would have paid for an upgrade if I were staying for more than the 12 hours this go-around.

Parking was $60/night for valet, but there was a self-park garage a couple blocks away for $37/night.

  5. Looking for a 3.5-to-4 star hotel in downtown Milwaukee; I've bid up to $110/night and haven't even received a counter offer.

I've previously won the Pfister and Hilton City Center for half that amount and I can book the Hilton direct through their site for $143.

Is there something I'm missing? Will availability increase as the week goes on?

  6. After my horrible and quick stay and priceline win at the Downtown Austin Radisson, was forced to book another hotel.

First bid was $55 for 3.5* in Austin South - Airport (AUS), got it first try, same-day booking and check-in (not sure if this helped with the lower cost).

Great hotel, free parking, a quick 5 minute drive to downtown, no noticeable highway noise. Free internet, morning beverage and newspaper if you sign up for their rewards program (which is free and can be done in your room).

  7. This is not a 3.5* quality hotel. Avoid at all costs.

Their treatment of Priceline customers is terrible. They haven't renovated one wing of their hotel, which they are, apparently, filling through Priceline bookings. When I went to check-in, they said they only had smoking rooms available.

The smoking side of the hotel strongly smells like an ashtray (especially in the halls); it was very apparent that people were fully utilizing their ability to smoke inside this hotel. Was comped parking ($17/day) due to being placed in a smoking room, but for me, that wasn't an option. I checked out literally 15 minutes after checking in.

The room itself was decrepit: dated furnishings, out-of-service elevators, a noticeable stain on the bed
