  4. Amenities listed: Free Internet Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower We were trying to decide between Element hotel and Holiday inn, where Element would be the much better deal when it comes to savings (and I prefer Westin hotels), but ended up with Holiday Inn because of the rooftop pool. Cool feature in NYC (but remains to see if we'll actually use it)! Perhaps not a super good price for NYC, but when comparing to HI site, it seemed they had increased prices a few of the days of our stay, so might be a conference or something special going on those days.
  5. It seems this hotel has been moved from 4,5* to 5*. Amenities listed were otherwise the same as listed in your hotel list: Indoor pool(s) Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Spa Services Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower Good deal as I got the complete stay (2 rooms 2 nights) for about $1100 which at other sites ran for $2000. Thank you (and thank you hotwire for making me a Hotwire Express member)!

  7. Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Although the recommended hotel for my convention had a "special offer" of $249/night for attendees at the Marriott, I'd rather save my company the extra dollars and got this hotel for $144/night. Used your link for purchase. Thank you!
  8. Amenities listed: Resort Slopeside Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Laundry Facilities (self-service) Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby This is a new hotel to add to your hotel list! I believe it shows the same amenities as the Marriott (which is the hotel I thought I'd get), so I was surprised when I saw another name on the booking confirmation. I won't complain though, The Lodge is one place higher up on the tripadvisor rating than the Marriott :)
  9. Believe this is a new hotel to add to your hotel list! Amenities (full list): Smoke Free Rooms Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Used the Hotwire QuickQuote on the top of the page. Didn't save that much though, only $40 on a 3-day stay. Oh well, it'll get me a few extra beers at the pub:)
  10. Using your PRICELINE links, it took me a few days to get this one. It's a weekend, so I guess it's a little harder getting good deals at that point. Notice that the star level has changed! This one is listed as a 2,5* hotel on your list, but PL gave me the message: "Congratulations, we
  11. Have you only been bidding on 4* hotels or lower star levels as well? I'm just curious. I'm looking for something the weekend before (sat 23. - mon 25.oct), but HOTWIRE prices seems high, and I've had no luck with PRICELINE yet (I've only been bidding up to $60 all levels, I know it's low but I fugure it's 2mo in advance so I have time to do some really low bids before I start bidding 3-figure numbers). I do get slightly worried when you say you've bid up to 150 with no luck though.
  12. Started bidding at $70, raising by $5. The lowest I found anyone got it for was $89, so putting in my bid today for $85, I was sure it wouldn't be accepted. But it was! I've been watching the hotwire rate bouncing between 119-129, so I'm very happy for my win! Thank you bb, and I of course used your PRICELINE link!
  13. Thanks for the tip, and congratulations on your winning bid!
  14. Here's an update: I ended up getting Renaissance Eden Roc for $97/night. Looking at previous wins, I saw this was the cheapest and most often won hotel in 4* Miami Beach area. I had originally planned for a South beach location, since we won't be having a car while in Miami, but I figured we could spend the money we save (on not being in SoBe, and not having to pay for parking) on an extra cab fare or two between Eden Roc and SoBe. Started bidding at $65, even though knowing no 4* hotel in Miami beach ever went below $75. With a lot of re-bidding I ended up getting the Renaissance Eden Roc for $97/night + taxes from Oct 15th-19th, the same as a lot of previous wins, so I'm happy! I used your PRICELINE links, and will continue to use them and your site for future purchases. Thank you for all the help! Edit: I guess Eden Rock is spelled without the "k".
  15. Thank you for the strategy, I really appreciate it! I will post my winnings when I get them.
  16. After looking at previous wins, it looks like it's hard to get a 4* for less than $100/night, so I guess I have to set our absolute max for the 4* at $100 as well. For 3,5* and lower, I think max $70/night. I hope Miami won't be in high season at that moment, so I'm hoping for something ideally around 50-60, though $70 is the limit no matter 1-3,5*. Currently hotwire's cheapest in SoBe is $69, so I'm hoping for something a little less.
  17. The least expensive in any of the three will do. We won't pick up our rental car until we'll leave Miami the 19th, so I figured the three SoBe locations would be the most central ones (we don't mind walking a lot if the area is safe). And I don't want to worry (and pay extra) for parking:)
  18. Hi We're a young couple going to Miami, as part of a roadtrip vacation. We'll be flying in to Miami on Fri Oct 15th, and most likely staying until Tuesday 19th. What I would like some help with is a bidding strategy for Miami. Neither of us have been to Miami before, so i'm guessing South Beach will be the best place to stay (Collins Ave Oceanfront, Ocean Drive and central in prioritized order). Neither am I very familiar with Priceline (I've only bid once). Read the bidding strategy explained, and think I understand. Our budget is max $80/night, but I'm hoping for something around 50-60, it that's at all possible in that area. A 3,5*-4* would of course be the best, but we're not high-maintenance and can go lower on star rating as long as it's good value for money (some of the 2,5* ones I'm sure are fine if I get a good deal!). I've been watching hotwire, but I don't feel the deals are that good there at the moment (maybe I'm too early), and few hotels under $80. Might I be able to get a better deal on priceline now, or do I need to wait until closer to October to find good deals? I thought Miami may be a low season in October, so good deals might be easier to find closer to our travel date. Shold I wait and just keep watching prices on hotwire, or consider strating bidding on PL? If so, can you help with a bidding strategy for Miami? I'm sorry if it's a bit unclear what I want, I'd prefer max $80 for a good 3,5-4*, but I love a great deal, so if it's possible to save a lot of money for staying not-so-fancy I'm willing to do that (just gives us more money to spend on other things). Thank you for your help and this forum, and I of course use your links for both searches and purchases every time:)
  19. Booked three rooms at $112/night Amenities: Smoke-free rooms; fitness center; pool(s); restaurant(s); business center Based on the amenities, I was pretty sure the Grand Hotel Amrath was the 5* hotel in the City Center & Museum Quarter listed on Hotwire for $112/night. Luckily I was right - fantastic deal! Can't wait to stay there! Thank you for this forum:)
  20. I'm sorry, it seems "spa" was left out when i copypasted the amenities list. It does include spa: Amenities See description Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Spa Services So my best guess would be that you get the Hilton Docklands, and not Marriott India Quay. The price is definately a good one (almost half of ordinary price), but the hotel seems like it's not well located, as they see the need for a free shuttle (5min) every 15min to the closest subway station.
  21. Amenities listed: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access I do not believe this hotel is listed in your hotels list, so you may want to add it. I just took a chance hoping it was the Marriott India Quay), oh well!
  22. Amenities listed: Fitness center High-speed internet restaurant Business center Tennis nearby (as listed on your hotel list) I see some people here got it for $135 and on TA someone got it for $121 through PRICELINE, but I think I still got a great deal compared to the "normal" price (Venere list it at $349 per night and hotel website from $339). Thank you HOTWIRE and betterbidding! I of course used your HOTWIRE links to do my purchase!
  23. Sorry, first time poster! Dates traveling are May 19th - May 24th 2009. Amenities shown on Hotwire were: Fitness, Restaurant and High-Speed Internet Access (which were accurate with your Hotwire hotel list). I considered going for Beekman Tower, with 1 room for 4 people, as Beekman was listed as "suite", but I found it slightly less centrally located, unsure of whether I would actually get a suite and how big it would be, and in the end figured 2 rooms and 2 baths would be the best solution (esp. for 4 women!)
  24. Thanks for the hotel list and other tips here! Used the hotwire hotel list and figured out my choices. Have previously booked through them, and have been satisfied every time (though that was before I found your hotel list). This time I chose/got Club Quarters Midtown (which is what I assumed I would get based o your list). Hotel seems decent and very central, which is my most important concern! We're 4 people traveling. Could have chosen a slightly cheaper hotel with 1 room, but as size of rooms vary, it would not be much fun being 4 people cramped in one room, with minimal floor space and one shared bath. Anyways, total price listed on Hotels.com is about $700 more, so I figure we got a good deal!
