  1. We had a great stay at this brand new hotel. It is behind the Sheraton Civic Center that has been there for years. There is a new development attached to the hotel that will eventually house several restaurants. Two were open when we were there as well as the hotel restaurant/pub. Two more looked like they would open soon. Other restaurants are in the Sheraton. No retail in walking distance that I saw. You can self park in an attached deck or valet. Easy access to I-20 on/off ramps.

  2. I would recommend the Hotel Indigo. It's in an easy access, fairly central location, with a parking deck. You'll pay $16 for self park and $20 for valet. Large rooms, great AC, large bathroom with a walkin shower, good coffee maker, and free internet. All the things I look for. There is a sun deck on top but no pool. A real surprise for the South.

I always use this site as a launching pad for HOTWIRE and PRICELINE. Thanks for all you do.

  3. Bayside Resort Hotel

Amenities: Free Parking, Complimentary Breakfast, Free Internet, Fitness Center, Pool, Golf Nearby, Children's Activity Program

This is a well kept older property. Rooms have coffee makers and a small fridge. The breakfast room is nice and offers a good cold buffet plus waffles. There is an indoor and outdoor pool and a small "beach" overlooking a marsh. There is also a small bar which is nice to have an end of the day drink, since you'll have to drive to any restaurants.

  4. Sheraton Colonial Hotel and Golf Club Boston North

Wakefield, Massachusetts on Jun 1, 2012 to Jun 2, 2012

Amenities: Free Parking, Smoke Free Rooms, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby

I booked this hotel because the drive was not far from my late arrival at BOS, before continuing to Maine. The rooms are really 2*, in my opinion. I suppose the additional stars are for meeting rooms, bar, restaurant, etc. I'd recommend chosing fewer stars if you only want a room. That way you'll save money and likely get some breakfast.

  5. I booked The Marquete at $110/night + tax through the Hilton website. It was less than what Hotwire (4.5*) was offering and I had already bid up to $100 for a 4* on Priceline with no win. It is ranked #1 on Tripadvisor. I didn't get the bargain I wanted but it appears to be a great hotel and very close to the convention hotel. I've never been to Minneapolis, so I'm looking forward to seeing the city.

As always, thanks for your help. Great website.

  6. I usually don't like splitting bids because I'm in meetings and checking out of one in the morning and into another in the afternoon is a real hassle if you end up in different hotels.

I had a reservation at the Hilton at convention rates for $200/night, but cancelled because I know I can do better. Hotwire has a 4.5* at around $150 with tax. I assume from recent posts that it is the Le Meridien. So I guess I will bid up to $125 on Priceline for a 4*. I don't usually bid lower than 4* on Priceline unless there are a number of recent wins and I'm pretty sure of the hotel I'll get.

I just didn't know if I should wait a couple of weeks or jump on the Hotwire deal.

Thanks, and I always go through this site for bids.

  7. I'm traveling with my wife and adult daughter, so we need 2 beds (appears to be a rare commodity in Chicago). The "bed selection" option 3.5* was gone by the time I got back to it. After reading some reviews saying they were unable to get switched to double beds after booking Hotwire or Priceline, I decided I'd better book where I could specify.

I booked The James through Booking.com for $160/night including tax. Not a steal but no one will have to sleep on the floor. I can cancel it, so I'm still looking at Hotwire and Priceline for a last minute deal.

    Thanks again.

  8. Thanks.

    4* NMA- Water Tower $92

Fitness, Rest, Bus Cen, HS internet, 90% rec

    4* MMA- Streeterville $98

Boutique, No Smoking, Fitness, Rest, Bus Cen, Hs internet, 90% rec

    3 1/2* MMA- Streeterville $114

Bed Choice, Breakfast, Fitness, Bus Cen, Laundry, HS internet, 95% rec

4 1/2* MMA- Streeterville $119, appears to be Intercontinental from recent post

  9. I am looking for a hotel in the "tourist area", since this is my first visit to Chicago and will not have a car. I arrive 4/7 and depart 4/11. In the NMA-Streeterville area, Hotwire is listing a 4.5* for $99 @ 80% TA rec, a 4* for $112 @ 90% rec, and a 3.5* for $103 @ 95% rec. I usually go the Priceline route, but if these are identifiable and in recommended areas, I'd be willing to pay a bit more. Also, if you would recommend a different area for a tourist weekend, I'd like to hear that too. I also noticed recommendations for Expedia deals, so those would be welcomed also.

Thanks for your help. You guys do a great job.

  10. Based on the last two entries, I thought I could get the Intercontinental or Sheraton for $55-57. Not so. I started at $55 and worked up $2/ bid with all rebids until I got it at $67. Not bad though for the beginning of Mardi Gras and it's on the parade route. That could be good or bad. I had the St. James booked at $105/ night, so I'm happy with saving $100.

Thanks for the help and as always, I used the PRICELINE link above.
