  1. We had a great stay at this brand new hotel. It is behind the Sheraton Civic Center that has been there for years. There is a new development attached to the hotel that will eventually house several restaurants. Two were open when we were there as well as the hotel restaurant/pub. Two more looked like they would open soon. Other restaurants are in the Sheraton. No retail in walking distance that I saw. You can self park in an attached deck or valet. Easy access to I-20 on/off ramps.
  2. $136.53 with taxes and fees. Looking forward to staying at this new hotel. Curious about reports of walking to restaurants, though. I've stayed at the Sheraton next door many times and there were no restaurants outside the hotel. Hotel Amenities Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Internet access
  3. Started bidding with Perimeter 3.5* at $50. Then raised to $52 and added Galleria. I got the Marriott, which I see is under renovation. Hopefully, that will not be an issue for one night.
  4. Won car through Hertz on first bid. Priceline's lowest quoted price was $18.
  5. Started bidding at $40 and used free rebids to get a 4* in this area. Used PRICELINE link here as always.
  6. I would recommend the Hotel Indigo. It's in an easy access, fairly central location, with a parking deck. You'll pay $16 for self park and $20 for valet. Large rooms, great AC, large bathroom with a walkin shower, good coffee maker, and free internet. All the things I look for. There is a sun deck on top but no pool. A real surprise for the South. I always use this site as a launching pad for HOTWIRE and PRICELINE. Thanks for all you do.
  7. Amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business center, High-Speed Internet Access I really expected Lowe's Vanderbilt when I bought this. I've stayed there and it's very nice. Never been to the Indigo, so I'm a little concerned.
  8. Bayside Resort Hotel Amenities: Free Parking, Complimentary Breakfast, Free Internet, Fitness Center, Pool, Golf Nearby, Children's Activity Program This is a well kept older property. Rooms have coffee makers and a small fridge. The breakfast room is nice and offers a good cold buffet plus waffles. There is an indoor and outdoor pool and a small "beach" overlooking a marsh. There is also a small bar which is nice to have an end of the day drink, since you'll have to drive to any restaurants.
  9. Sheraton Colonial Hotel and Golf Club Boston North Wakefield, Massachusetts on Jun 1, 2012 to Jun 2, 2012 Amenities: Free Parking, Smoke Free Rooms, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby I booked this hotel because the drive was not far from my late arrival at BOS, before continuing to Maine. The rooms are really 2*, in my opinion. I suppose the additional stars are for meeting rooms, bar, restaurant, etc. I'd recommend chosing fewer stars if you only want a room. That way you'll save money and likely get some breakfast.
  10. Americas Best Inn - Portsmouth, NH Portsmouth, New Hampshire on Jun 2, 2012 to Jun 4, 2012 Amenities: Fitness Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Accessible for the deaf, Free Parking, Complimentary Breakfast, Free Internet, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower
  11. Just added the car. Sorry, I haven't checked back in a while and haven't used the Rental Car section before. I certainly will in the future. BTW, The Marriott was a very nice hotel, convenient (expensive) parking, and an excellent deal for the money.
  12. Booked through PRICELINE link here. Bid $10 for fullsized car was rejected. $10 for midsized car accepted. $10/day x 3 + 40.24 fees = $70.24 total. It was $81.11 on Hotwire and almost double on the agency sites.
  13. Booked through the HOTWIRE link here. $15.95/day x 3 days. $37.96 in fees. Total was $85.81. NOTE: The rental car depot at BWI is several minutes by bus from the airport and there are no gas stations in the immediate area of the depot so plan accordingly.
  14. I am, thanks. Booked a car through the HOTWIRE wire link on this site also. Keep up the good work.
  15. First bid was $70, rejected. PL offered a room if I raised my bid by $16. I did not take the offer and raised bid to $75 by including W Baltimore. Bid accepted at $75 + 18.95 fee= $93.95 total.
  16. Thanks for mentioning that. I always go to HOTWIRE and PRICELINE through this site but didn't think about the hotel sites. I will in the future.
  17. First bid of $45 for 3* in East Memphis accepted by Doubletree. Guess I should have started lower but the lowest price on their website is #121. I'm happy and I know the area. It's a nice place.
  18. I booked The Marquete at $110/night + tax through the Hilton website. It was less than what Hotwire (4.5*) was offering and I had already bid up to $100 for a 4* on Priceline with no win. It is ranked #1 on Tripadvisor. I didn't get the bargain I wanted but it appears to be a great hotel and very close to the convention hotel. I've never been to Minneapolis, so I'm looking forward to seeing the city. As always, thanks for your help. Great website.
  19. I usually don't like splitting bids because I'm in meetings and checking out of one in the morning and into another in the afternoon is a real hassle if you end up in different hotels. I had a reservation at the Hilton at convention rates for $200/night, but cancelled because I know I can do better. Hotwire has a 4.5* at around $150 with tax. I assume from recent posts that it is the Le Meridien. So I guess I will bid up to $125 on Priceline for a 4*. I don't usually bid lower than 4* on Priceline unless there are a number of recent wins and I'm pretty sure of the hotel I'll get. I just didn't know if I should wait a couple of weeks or jump on the Hotwire deal. Thanks, and I always go through this site for bids.
  20. I started bidding at $50 and went to $90 for a 4* in downtown Minneapolis for the weekend of June 9-12. I noted other people getting 4* for $55-75, but not for that weekend. Anyone know if there is something big happening that is driving up prices?
  21. I'm traveling with my wife and adult daughter, so we need 2 beds (appears to be a rare commodity in Chicago). The "bed selection" option 3.5* was gone by the time I got back to it. After reading some reviews saying they were unable to get switched to double beds after booking Hotwire or Priceline, I decided I'd better book where I could specify. I booked The James through Booking.com for $160/night including tax. Not a steal but no one will have to sleep on the floor. I can cancel it, so I'm still looking at Hotwire and Priceline for a last minute deal. Thanks again.
  22. Thanks. 4* NMA- Water Tower $92 Fitness, Rest, Bus Cen, HS internet, 90% rec 4* MMA- Streeterville $98 Boutique, No Smoking, Fitness, Rest, Bus Cen, Hs internet, 90% rec 3 1/2* MMA- Streeterville $114 Bed Choice, Breakfast, Fitness, Bus Cen, Laundry, HS internet, 95% rec 4 1/2* MMA- Streeterville $119, appears to be Intercontinental from recent post
  23. I am looking for a hotel in the "tourist area", since this is my first visit to Chicago and will not have a car. I arrive 4/7 and depart 4/11. In the NMA-Streeterville area, Hotwire is listing a 4.5* for $99 @ 80% TA rec, a 4* for $112 @ 90% rec, and a 3.5* for $103 @ 95% rec. I usually go the Priceline route, but if these are identifiable and in recommended areas, I'd be willing to pay a bit more. Also, if you would recommend a different area for a tourist weekend, I'd like to hear that too. I also noticed recommendations for Expedia deals, so those would be welcomed also. Thanks for your help. You guys do a great job.
  24. Based on the last two entries, I thought I could get the Intercontinental or Sheraton for $55-57. Not so. I started at $55 and worked up $2/ bid with all rebids until I got it at $67. Not bad though for the beginning of Mardi Gras and it's on the parade route. That could be good or bad. I had the St. James booked at $105/ night, so I'm happy with saving $100. Thanks for the help and as always, I used the PRICELINE link above.
  25. By the time I got back to Hotwire, the price had gone up to $67/ night. I used Priceline and got the Intercontinental for the same price. Thanks for help with the ID.
