  2. Hello! Started bidding at $220 in USW and SOMA. Added re-bid zones and ended up getting it at $255, which is about $60 off their going price, so it's a decent deal. Not as much of a discount as I like to get with Priceline (I'm spoiled!), but there's a big music festival in town so prices are high. It's a good hotel in a good location, so I'm happy. :)
  3. Hi! Won this one for one night. Started bidding at $85, they offered to let me increase the bid to $110 and try again. I declined and used re-bid zones to get up to $100. Thanks for maintaining this forum - it's great! Love the calendar feature. :)
  4. Oh, I'm a regular at Kinchley's now, thanks also to thereuare! I love that place - it IS great pizza, and it's just such a nice, laid-back place to have dinner and some beers. :)
  5. I'll be in town for the big convention, and I've been trying to bid 9/7-9/11 with no luck. So I cut it down to two days and gave it another try. I could have done much better for the first night, but I didn't want to split it. I'm pretty happy with this - I'm going to try to stay with friends for the weekend. :) Bid $85 for 4* in Loop, rejected. Added re-bid zones and NMA and bid in $5 increments up to $100, rejected. Bid $85 for 3* in Loop, rejected. Added re-bid zones and NMA and bid in $5 increments up to $95, accepted! Club Quarters Wacker At Michigan 75 East Wacker Drive Chicago, Illinois 60601 Your Offer Price: $95.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $190.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $37.82 Total Charges: $227.82 Thanks as always to everyone on the boards! :)
  6. My favorite Wellesley Inn in Ramsey is being changed to a Holiday Inn Express! That should be nice, actually, because they'll have high-speed internet. But they aren't giving the Entertainment rate anymore, so I tried Priceline! Bid $60 for a 2.5*, rejected. Added re-bid zone, $65, rejected. Waited 72 hours, bid $70 for a 2.5*, rejected. Added re-bid zone, $75, accepted and upgraded to 3*. Sheraton Crossroads Hotel Route 17n 1 International Blvd Mahwah, New Jersey 07495 Your Offer Price: $75.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $75.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $18.28 Total Charges: $93.28 PS - thereuare, I tried the Chinese buffet on 17S that you recommended. I'd been on the road for a while and really wanting something Chinese. It did the job! They even gave me some of the hot sauce I liked. Thanks for the rec! :)
  7. Stayed here for one Monday night in August 2005 for $46. Great location right off the highway with a variety of restaurants around, even Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. The property has aged a little bit, but is still decent and clean. Check-in was quick and easy, no mention of Priceline. Ample free parking, good breakfast buffet with hot eggs and sausage and make your own waffles. The Amerisuites chain professes to cater to Japanese people, so there were steamed rice, boiled eggs, and soy sauce on the buffet. (This is very funny if you're Japanese.) Free wireless internet was great - several access points to choose from, both b and g. The fitness room has two treadmills, a climber, and a bike. It was completely empty so I had it all to myself. There's also a whirlpool off the lobby, but I didn't try it. The room is spacious - semi-separate living room with pull-out bed, which would be great for kids. There's also a little fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, which is nice. Only one little icky shampoo though, so bring your own stuff. It's definitely all basic, not upscale, and a bit dated. But good enough.
  8. I got this hotel on Priceline (it's the main 3* hotel for this area) for $40 for a Sunday night. Parking is ample and free, and check in was friendly and efficient, with no mention of Priceline. The room itself was a mini-suite with a separate seating and work area, which was nice. It was clean and spacious, and the bed was very comfortable, with good linens. Bathroom area is fine. I appreciated the extra-large tube of body lotion. High-speed wireless internet is $9.95/day through T-Mobile. They even provide you with a little wireless kit if you need it. Didn't try any other hotel amenities. There isn't anything around in walking distance, but there is an Avis car rental in case you find yourself without a car. Overall, would definitely stay here again. I didn't think it looked or felt as run-down as the previous reviewers. I don't usually stay at Hyatts, so maybe this one just suffered in comparison? It's not super fancy or a tourist place, it's just a suburban business hotel. In any case, it's really not a bad place at all. I quite liked it.
  9. Hi! Just wanted to make a suggestion - the Imperial Palace, which is in a great spot on the Strip, is running specials for $79-$85/night on the weekends through September. It's not a fancy place by any means, but these deals are for their newly renovated rooms. It's clean and safe, and it's a fun place to gamble. If you're only using your room for sleeping, this is a great deal! Ask for casino reservations. Have fun in Vegas!! :)
  10. Bid $40 for a 2.5* in Trumbull-Shelton area, received counteroffer to raise bid $12. Declined. Bid $45 accepted! Courtyard Shelton 780 Bridgeport Avenue Shelton, CT 06484 $45+$12.98 tax = $57.98 As always, thanks to everyone on this board for all the great information! This hotel happens to be exactly the one I wanted - it's .3 miles from my meeting! :) I love Priceline.
  11. Bid $38 for 2.5*, received counteroffer to raise bid by $11. Did not accept. Bid $46 (from another account :) ), accepted! Amerisuites Arlington Heights 2111 S Arlington Heights Rd. Arlington Heights, IL 60005 $46+$12.81 tax=$58.81 Thank you, as always, to the betterbidding peeps and thereuare for making me a Priceline junkie! :)
  12. Started bid for 2.5* in the Lisle-Naperville area Bid $35, rejected Switched to 3*, added Arlington Heights free re-bid Bid $38, rejected Added Elmhurst free re-bid Bid $40, accepted Hyatt Lisle 1400 Corporetum Drive Lisle, IL 60532 $40+$12.01 = $52.01 Thank you to betterbidding and theruare for all the great info! :)
  13. Hi! Looks like the Doubletree Hotel Bradley International has been downgraded to a 2.5*. I bid on a 2.5* in the area (trying for the Courtyard Windsor), but I got this. This is not stated as an upgrade to a 3*. It is stated as a 2.5* hotel. I bid $45 first, rejected. Then added re-bid zone (Hartford South) and increased to $50. Congratulations, you got your price of $50 for a 2
  14. OK, so I did some more research, and it turned out that I could do the Needham/Dedham area. So I bid up to $60 for a 2.5*, but got rejected. I bid for a 3* starting at $50 and went up in $5 increments to $75. Here's what I got: Holiday Inn Boston - Dedham Your Offer Price: $75.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $150.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $24.58 Total Charges: $174.58 So this wasn't a great Priceline deal - they had a rate of $99 on their site. I was really going for the Sheraton Needham, but this is ok. Free parking and internet, and I still saved $50! That's what it's all about, right?
  15. They do have a free shuttle to/from the airport, so that's a nice thing. However, it's just so far from the airport that people should be aware to allow for the extra time.
  16. Yes, you're right, thereuare. I learned my lesson with the Cleveland hotel. I'm going to wait on this one anyway - the weather may be prohibitive. I checked Hotwire - they use the same zones as Priceline, so I don't know if that's safe either. Thanks!
  17. This is a nice Wyndham in a suburb of Chicago (not to be confused with the Wyndham Chicago in downtown, which is a beautiful hotel). Check-in was nice. I paid only $37 through Priceline, so it was a great deal. By Request perks are not available with Priceline though. The room is large, nicely appointed, but not luxurious. Beds were nice, they pay a lot of attention to the linens they use, so the beds look nice as well. There's a good-sized work desk with a fancy Aeron chair and a sitting area with a couch. The bathroom was standard. High-speed internet (wireless or wired) is $10 per calendar day, NOT per 24 hour period. This is annoying because if you check in at 6pm and pay $10 to use high speed internet, your connection will expire at midnight, and then you'll have to pay another $10 to continue using it. However, if you wait until 8pm, they'll give you that 4 hour period as a courtesy, and your $10 will give you until midnight the following night. Internet is free with By Request. Also, there is a $8 fee to use the exercise facility because it's a privately owned gym. It's a decent gym with racquetball courts, weight machines, cardio machines. It is about 10 miles from the airport and probably 30 minutes from downtown, but if you have business in the area, it's a nice pick, especially if you get a good rate on Priceline.
  18. Hi! I was originally trying for the airport Sheraton, but couldn't get it. I got this hotel in the Airport South area. It's called an airport hotel, but it's about 10 miles away from the airport, so don't be fooled by the name! It took about 25 minutes to drive here from the airport in the snow. Holiday Inn Select Strongsville (Airport Area) I 71 St Rt 82 15471 Royalton Rd Strongsville, Ohio 44136 Your Offer Price: $40.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $80.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $20.38 Total Charges: $100.38
  19. Hi! I wanted to bid in the Newton-Needham zone, but it looks like they've changed the zones? Now it's Newton-Waltham or Needham-Dedham. I wanted a place either in Newton or Needham, but not in Waltham or Dedham. The Sheraton Needham is actually right next to where my meeting is. What to do? My hotel night is 3/8/05, looking for a 2.5* or higher. Any strategy you can offer? Thanks! :)
  20. Really getting the hang of this Priceline thing now, thanks to everyone on this board! :) Bid $30 for a 2.5* in Itasca, rejected (offered to add $8 and bid again, but declined) added re-bid zone, bid $32, rejected Bid $35 for a 3* in Itasca, rejected added re-bid zone, bid $37, accepted! Wyndham Northwest Chicago Itasca 400 Park Boulevard Itasca, Illinois 60143 Your Offer Price: $37.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $148.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $26.06 Total Charges: $174.06 Very happy with this bid - great reviews on this hotel, and I always love Wyndhams! I've also heard that Wyndham will honor your By Request perks even if you book with Priceline. Can anyone confirm?
  21. Hi! Bid all over the place to get a room in Miami Lakes area. Might have overbid a little, but I was running out of time on this one. This is still a better price than my backup, which was the Holiday Inn Express at the Entertainment rate of $70. And there's free high-speed internet! Here's what I did: Bid $50 for a 3* in Miami Lakes, rejected added re-bid zone, bid $55, rejected added re-bid zone, bid $60, rejected added re-bid zone, bid $65, rejected Bid $55 for a 2.5 in Miami Lakes, rejected added re-bid zone, bid $65, accepted! 24. Hi! Found a backup at the Comfort Inn Airport South in San Mateo - cancellable internet rate of $57.60. I bid on Priceline again accordingly, but I didn't win: Bid $42 for 3* in San Mateo, rejected Added rebid zone, raised to $48, rejected. Bid $45 for 2.5* in San Mateo, rejected. (Offered to try again with a $13 raise, declined.)
  25. I don't have any backups right now - I guess I'll just bid again and go up to $50/room. That's still going to be cheaper than anything I can find in that area. I'll let you know how it goes! :)
