  1. Thanks for the tip about entering 2 adults/2 children... that removed the increase in fee. :) I'm still hoping you may be able to help Id the 2.5* Hotel. 2. I searched for 1 room with 2 people and then 1 room with 3 people (to get a second bed/sofa bed.) There are 2 adults in my party. Here are the results: Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Boutique Hotel, Smoke Free Rooms, Laundry Facilities (self-service) Rate per night: CAD59.89 Nights: 2 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: CAD24.89 Subtotal: CAD144.68 Trip total: CAD144.68 Free Internet, Smoke Free Rooms, High-Speed Internet Access Rate per night: CAD68.01 Nights: 2 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: CAD76.81 Subtotal: CAD212.83 Trip total: CAD212.83
  3. In order to get 2 beds using Hotwire I used to specify 3 people/room. It now appears that Hotwire is adding additional fees (on top of the increased room rate) when I specify a third person. Is this now common with Hotwire? If so, does this mean there's no longer a way to get 2 beds using Hotwire without paying the extra (significant) fee?
  4. I'm seeking help identifying a 2.5* hotel in Vancouver (Entertainment District) on Hotwire Searched Dates: Nov 25-27 (2 nights) Available at $60 Per Night Amenities: Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Boutique Hotel, Smoke Free Rooms, Laundry Facilities (self-service) Does anyone know what this hotel might be?
  5. I booked using your PRICELINE link for this trip instead of HOTWIRE. The Hotwire rates increased over the last couple days, and I saw a post on the Priceline forum where they have the Holiday Inn Downtown Vancouver (Entertainment District) for $52/night. I've posted full details of my winning bid ($47/night) on the PRICELINE forum. Now I just have to call the Holiday Inn to request 2 beds, which I've never had an issue with at that hotel after using PRICELINE... Thanks again for all your valuable information!
  6. Fri Dec 10 - Sun Dec 12, 2010 - $47/night Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $47.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $94.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $22.36 (USD) Total Room Cost: $116.36 (USD) First bid of $42/night was rejected but I was informed if I raised my bid to $57 I could resubmit w/o having to change anything else (zone or star level.) Instead I selected the zone of Langley as it has no 3 star hotels and increased my bid to $47, which was accepted. Once again, thank you very much for all the valuable information available on this forum. I was considering booking through Hotwire, but the rates went up over the last couple days, and I saw a post on this Priceline forum where they have the Holiday Inn for $52 so I tried it. Also of note, North Vancouver must have just added a three star property recently, as it used to be another zone I could add at the 3 star level. Luckily I double check every time, and this time saw that North Van now has a 3 star property...
  7. The Century Plaza and Spa would be a good deal. If I do book this through HOTWIRE I'll def post the results. Thanks for your feedback!
  8. I ended up booking directly with the hotel (Parc 55) as my travel companion was very particular about where he wanted to stay.
  9. I ended up booking directly with the Parc 55 in SF for that trip. Help ID Hotwire 3.5* Vancouver Downtown West Hotel Dec 10-12 2 Adults plus 1 Child Hotwire search returns 3.5* w/ following amens: Smoke Free, Fitness, Pool, Rest, Biz, Laundry, High Speed I-net, Tennis at $65/night. I see no match in the Cda/Van Hotwire hotel list. The Coast Plaza is similar but showing as a 3*. Is this property likely the Coast Plaza??? Thanks in advance, Don
  10. 3* Vancouver Downtown West Dec 10-12 2 Adults 1 Child Hotwire search returns 3* w/ following amens: Suite, Fitness, Pool, Rest, Spa at $69/night. I see no match in the Cda/Van Hotwire hotel list. The Greenbrier is similar. Is this property likely the Greenbriar??? Thanks in advance, Don
  11. Hi fellow better bidders, I'm wondering if anyone can help me determine the number of beds in the 4* rooms in SF USE or USF (Westin St Francis, Grand Hyatt, Prescott, Parc 55, etc.) It appears from members' posts that these hotels have the best deals right now, and I've read the the terms on Priceline and it says that each room will accommodate 2 adults, but specific bed requests have to be made directly to the hotel (and are not guaranteed through Priceline.) I haven't had any issues requesting 2 beds with the rooms I've booked using Priceline in Vancouver, however I'm leery of booking a room for 2 in SF and then being stuck with 1 bed. For this particular trip I require 2 beds. Does anyone know if my request for 2 rooms is likely to be granted or denied? Thanks in advance. Don
  12. I just wanted to thank you for the tips on how to bid with PRICELINE. Last weekend I submitted a bid for one night at a 3* hotel in downtown Vancouver at $25 (the lowest price where the red caution went away). It was rejected but I was informed that for one time only I could rebid by adding 6$ to the bid. I did so and the bid was successful. I got a room at the Holiday Inn on Howe for $31 for 1 night. It was a decent room, nothing super fancy but very clean and comfortable, with 2 nice firm queen size beds. So I decided to try again this weekend for a longer stay. After reading your tips about rebidding, I figured out that N. Van and Langley are free re-bid zones for 3* hotels (as neither zone has anything above a 2.5*.) I once again submitted the same $25 bid and again it was rejected. Again I was informed that for this one time (again!) I could rebid by bumping my bid by $6. But having discovered your rebid process, I selected the N Van zone and submitted a new bid of $27. This bid was accepted. I once again got a room at the Holiday Inn on Howe (the hotel I wanted as it is around the corner from my friend's apartment!) The 3 nights cost me $101 including tax and fees. Hotwire is offering a 3* hotel in downtown Vancouver at $36/night for a total of $131 for 3 nights including taxes and fees. Thanks to your tips, and by using Priceline, I saved another $40-50Cdn over the already discounted Hotwire price. Thanks again!!! PS - I used your PRICELINE link...
