  1. The usual $75 did the job for late November. Second stay - $75 Suk rejected, $80 Suk+Siam accepted at the JW Marriott Bangkok.
  2. My previous deal of $59 was rejected... Addded Central Seoul at $60 and that did the job this time.
  3. Hi Chris, Indeed... A bit boring. But it's still the best deal in Seoul. Sorry I missed you in BKK, time just flies when you stay there eh? :o Yet I have stayed 12 times at the Westin BKK and it's never boring. Maybe something to do eith the city eh? :)
  4. Right, I wonder if the "Renaissance Wing" would come up as 5* in Kuala Lumpur. I booked the JW Marriott myself to secure Marriott Rewards credit for MYR 320.
  5. I first bid $58 as that was successful last time. Got a $17 counteroffer - declined and added Central Seoul and $1. :)
  6. Seems like the rate is going up as the U.S. Dollar is weakening. Still a fantastic deal.
  7. LeMeridien President is indeed supposed to become a Holiday Inn. But there's no way it's open yet, at least based on what it looked like three weeks ago when I stayed at the Intercon. A Crowne Plaza will open near Suk 25-27 as well in the near furute.
  8. Indeed! I didn't remember how I entered my non-U.S. phone number once, and of course you need that along with the request number to be able to listen to the endless ads and perhaps later someone might even talk to you... :) I just find it strange that the hotel name is not correct in Worldspan (think that's what PL uses?)
  9. I started at S$60 and upped my bid with the S$5 increments until I got it for S$95.

  13. This place is not very busy either. However, I have noticed that for last minute weekday bookings, the Seoul Renaissance always shows only Club Level rooms. Same happened before and I booked the Intercon thinking that the Ren was indeed full. Perhaps they want these last-minute travellers to book club rooms like airlines may only sell full Y/C for walk-up fares?? I got rejected by PL also for one-night bids before I was successful with the four nights together.
  14. I checked the rates yesterday via www.marriott.com/selrn - no problems with availability. Today, only Club level rooms were available for one night stays (I do that as a poor student to maximize eBay points). Shocked about this, I decided to check the whole time period - bingo, usual availability. My usual $57 was countered with $17 counteroffer - perhaps they have raised the rate as the dollar is a bit weaker. Added Central Seoul and bid $60 - accepted at the Renaissance Seoul just as I needed. Renaissance Seoul Seocho-Gu - Gangnam-Gu 676 Yoksam Dong Gangnam Gu Seoul, Republic Of Korea 82-2-5550501 Check-In Date: Monday, November 1, 2004 Check-Out Date: Friday, November 5, 2004 Your Offer Price: $60.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $240.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $38.25 Total Charges: $278.25 Cheapest rate on Marriott.com is about $250 per night with tax.
  15. Right... I posted that reply after enjoying a bit (too much) of alcohol in a Marriott lounge :) I flew FD Bangkok - Phuket too and stayed at the JW - they had no clue such flight exists when I requested the transfers. For Thai domestics, I have found that FD has nowadays such prices that it's not worth flying FD at all. For KUL, current LH special is 3000 Baht - maybe a bit more than FD but well worth it for the lounges. For SIN, I usually use AY C-class - ridiculously low fares from BKK. MFM is a city where I believe FD has very low prices compared to the others.
  16. COEX Intercon is a very nice 5-star hotel. I have stayed there before - fantastic modern rooms and no complaints whatsoever. It's a steal at that price... Rooms are very spacious with separate showers/baths and the hotel is located above a nice shopping mall as well as a subway station... It's just that I prefer the JW/Renaissance Seoul as a Marriott Gold member.
  17. Hi thereuare, Yep, I'll be staying here a lot during this fall. Great hotel for that price and they honour Marriott Elite benefits :) Thanks for the nice board,it's great to chat here with others unlike at TOBB!!! Cheers, LHFlyer
  18. Renaissance was unfortunately full. So I needed to look at alternatives... $100 rejected, $110 accepted at COEX Intercontinental Seoul.
  19. These TR/FD pax will not stay in JW/Westin/Sheraton/Intercon/Sha-La. Period. Anybody who wahts to stay in these hotels pay the (ridiculous) USD 30-40 more to fly on TG/SQ. I hate these locos in Asia anyways...
  20. I have had the same experience lately. Even the $75 JW rate doesn't seem to be there anymore every day.
  21. Faster Free Night - they ran the promotion again until September 30. Two stays = 1 free night. I had four 1-night stays in Manila, total cost 232 USD. Redeemed the nights at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong and Grand Hyatt Tokyo. :)
  22. Hi Chris, I tried for ages to get 5-star for Friday Nov 5 - no success up to $120 (W HK) and $100 (Kln). But I managed to get a Hyatt FFN at the Grand Hyatt :)
  23. Hi neo1, Actually it was 75 for this weekend. Really too bad the $60 rate seems to be gone, it was one of the last great rates in BKK. IMHO $75 with all the taxes added is quite pricey. Hotel seems very busy, but they never fail to get me a king no smoking room on the SPG floors.
  24. If you don't have the Golden Circle card, join online to get a full buffet breakfast for Shangri-La. Upgrades to Krungthep Wing ($15) are worth every penny if you can get one. Suite was offered for $50 - so-so value for me and the Horizon Club $50 is not worth it IMHO.
