  1. With tax, valet parking was $20.57/night and there's tipping. There is an option to self park at $10 every time you enter the parking lot, meaning if you leave and return, you will pay another $10. Internet is $9.99/day plus tax, but most say it's painfully slow you need to upgrade to business speed at $12.99. Some other complaints, which are all on tripadvisor, if you chose the city view, the subway is fairly loud. We only found two outlets in the entire room, one quad required you pull out the bed; two lamps and an alarm clock leave only one opening. There is a second one by the desk, both outlets were being used by lights. Not a big deal, but they still use small tube tvs, I was looking forward to seeing a football game in HD. About the only above average item in the room was that it had french doors into the bathroom. The lobby and public areas are very nice. I stayed in the Hyatt Place 20 miles away in Arlington TX, the day before here. Free internet and parking save roughly $35 a day, you get a couch, swiveling large HD tv and fridge.
  2. It was overall a great stay. The free breakfast was continental, toast, cereal, mini-danish, OJ and Milk. They also have a full paid breakfast.
  3. Used the PRICELINE link as always. I previously bid up to $52 the next night 11/25-11/26 for this zone on for a 3.5* and failed. Zones change all he time, but currently only Garland and Grand Prairie South only have sub 3* zone, started bidding yesterday working in $1 increments until I won at $44. Room Subtotal: $44.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $13.83 (USD) Total Room Cost: $57.83 (USD) Hyatt reports $125.35 per night. This hotel has free parking and free wifi.
  4. Used the PRICELINE link as always. First tried Arlington zone at a 3.5* and bidding failed up to $52. Started over and choose 4* Dallas downtown, started at $45, received the $15 counter, reject and bid in one dollar increments until $50 was accepted. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $50.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: $150.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $31.17 (USD) Total Room Cost: $181.17 (USD) I went on the Hyatt site and it says the out the door price is $318.55. Also, they'll be doing public space renovations which kind of stinks. I'm currently researching parking, appears it's $19/day for valet or self parking at $10 per each time you park, not per day.
  5. A little bit of a follow up. They have a free airport shuttle, free parking, free wifi and free business center. I called three days before my first day and was allowed to swap two double beds to one queen which they allowed. No microwave or included fridge, but you can "rent" a fridge for $10/day.
  6. Used the PRICELINE link as always. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $38.00 (USD) Room Subtotal: $76.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $18.52 (USD) Total Room Cost: $94.52 (USD) On the Wyndham site 158.00 Estimated taxes & fees*: 22.52 Total: 180.52 USD I had multiple failing bids, I wanted the durham zone or chapel hill zones and have seen 3.5*s for $38. Over days of bidding, $47 3* failed for the durham and chapel hill zones. I also tried a $55 bid for a 4* in chapel hill.
  7. Using BB's PRICELINE link, I bid $31/day and got a counteroffer at $32 for Alamo, which has a regular price of $35. I accepted and they actually only do a reservation compared to actually charging your card. This is my first time using PL for a rental car. Daily Rate(2 x $32.38) $64.76 Subtotal: $64.76 Taxes and Fees $17.51 Estimated Total Charges: $82.27
  8. Working on renting a car for the first time. I'm unsure how many times you can bid per day.
  9. Used the PRICELINE link as always. Saw that $38 was accepted before; I have an assignment 20 miles away at the air force base so I started with $38 only at the zone TINKER AFB, it failed and I added the Airport zone and had to increase the bid by a dollar and got it for $39/night. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $39.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: $117.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $24.99 (USD) Total Room Cost: $141.99 (USD) =========== Here's on the site using the best available rate: 1 adults, 0 children x 3 nights 357.00 Estimated taxes & fees*: 49.53 Total: 406.53 USD ========== Short and sweet review. It's extremely nice and appears very new. Microwave, fridge, large work table and a separate table with chairs. Free wireless and wired internet, indoor heated pool, free airport shuttle, $.50 shuttle to get you downtown. There has to be a dozen restaurants within a 100 yard walk and maybe another 100 withing an one mile drive.
  10. Thanks Traveler. Used the PRICELINE link to win the Travelodge Suites Okeechobee from 9/2-9/5 for $33 per night, $32 failed bid. This is a *2 motel. Room Subtotal: $99.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $18.78 (USD) Total Room Cost: $117.78 (USD) I did see this for $40/night before taxes directly on travel lodge a week ago but currently increased to $50/night. Still PRESUMABLY on hotwire for $39/night. I used a reverse star strategy; there are no one stars so I could decrease the star rating with confidence and get two bids a day. Mods, feel free to update this to the post #1.
  11. Nothing on BB's list for Okeechobee FL...Using the PRICELINE link I started $20 and over multiple days and got it up to $29 and received the $10 counter offer which I declined. Upon doing some research, Hotwire lists a 2* for $39/night...Hotwire doesn't list any amenities but states a 4 out of 5 rating on trip advisor. There is currently only two *2's in Okeechobee which are the Travellodge Suites and Pier II. The Travellodge Suites has the 4 out of 5 rating where the Pier has 3.5. Therefore extremely high odds that Hotwire will be the Travel lodge Suites and since they're participating in Hotwire good odds they're participating in priceline too. Unfortunately neither hw or pl has any 2.5* offerings which would be Best Western, Holiday Inn or Hampton Inn which are all have pools. The Travel lodge does not have a pool. If I could of got all three nights for around $100 I could live without a pool but it appears I'm going to bid $45/night (with the fees and taxes) for the pool-less Travel lodge. For about $20 more total a night I could get a pool and a continental breakfast by booking a 2.5* directly...Just thought I'd share.
  12. I recently won a priceline weekend for $82 for a 3.5*, three rooms. A $79 was bid was rejected. I was surprised to see winning bids for the $62 a few days before me and a week after me. I wonder if it has to do with multiple rooms? If you're willing to accept the a risk of being in different hotel, try bidding on just one room. It's surprising that you haven't won yet as late Sept isn't a popular time...
  13. Overall very nice experience. Good room, had a chair and ottoman, Internet was not free, they charge $15/day for fridges. The parking lot was full Sunday night as it was independence day. We had to park next door at the parking garage for $5, only problem was it had to be out of the garage by 6am or risk getting a ticket. The Hilton staff was kind enough to refund us parking, $24 for the two nights. But it was an unfortunate experience as we had planned to paint the town red but now one of us had to be sober to drive from the garage to the hilton...It was a holiday, not the Hilton's fault. We were told by another guest they always have a $89.95 ball play special, have to google a promo code, where you get is free parking (save $12), $20 Rays cash which can only be used at the stadium (didn't ask if they could be used on tickets) and a buffet breakfast for two (save $30). If a hot breakfast buffet is important and it's only one night, it appears you save $12 over priceline. We may go that route in late august for one night and bid on st pete beach or clearwater beach for the rest of the time.
  14. Wanted to add a little bit of a review...It's basically a brand new hotel, it's contemporary decorated which I really like; probably my favorite room hotel lobby I've ever been to, style wise. But it's located across the street from the airport. Luckily we never heard planes taking off, it is a smaller regional airport. But it's unfortunately PRICELINE bundles the zone with downtown which is about 6 miles away.
  15. I have called HOTWIRE twice and have successful been given a chance to rebid both times...I have called PRICELINE twice and they said they never give refunds (I'm sure they do, I wasn't lucky) On one of the calls I offered to double bid for a star increase and was told they no. It's an interesting time as the forth was a Sunday, some people were given today off from work while others weren't. I'm here in Downtown St Pete, not St Pete Beach right now on a winning bid. Appears the lowest you can get a three star on the Beach would be a $60 bid. On every listed property, they have a $25/day resort fee so with tax you're at $100/night. I won the 3.5 star hilton bayfront for $45/night.
  16. On holiday inn it's $79/night with tax about $95/night. HOTWIRE listed a 3* downtown for $139 so it's a safe bet it wouldn't be the holiday inn...lol
  17. As always I used the PRICELINE link. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $45.00 Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.78 Total Charges*: $57.78 First was trying for the 4*, people have had success at $45, I exhausted the bids up to $60... Next tried 3*...$40 was rejected, got the "bid another $10" I rezoned and rebid $45.
  18. To add, they allow a bed choice of two doubles or a king over the phone. Upon check-in, one of us in the group was able to barter a suite for an $50/night plus tax and parking was free...
  19. Used your PRICELINE link above! Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront St. Petersburg 333 First Street South Saint Petersburg, Florida 33701 Seeing that other people have bid $44 and lost, rebid $45 and win, with this being on independence day I figured I'd start at $45 and got it. 2 night subtotal: $90.00 Taxes & Fees: $19.39 Total Charges*: $109.30 If booked through the Hilton site, including taxes would be $246.29/night. There is a $12 self-parking per day fee... Take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt as things always change...I called and was told they normally give priceliners two double beds but was kind enough to switch it to a king without any problem. It is $12 self-parking per day but it is free on-street parking on weekends...However was told they CAN start ticketing at 6am on Monday morning. She also said finding a free weekend spot can be difficult. They also have a free shuttle service that goes to and from the hotel to Tropicana field.
  20. I just won that exact priceline bid at $82 ($79 was my next highest bid and that failed), but entirely different dates. Unless something changed in the past 24 hours, no Savannah zones other than the historic district have a 3.5*. So you can bid, if failed, add a zone, just be sure not to lower your star rating and rebid a little higher. I'd do $80, if failed add a zone, rebid $85 etc...
  21. Used PRICELINE link Worked my way up to $82/night. $79 bid failed. Grand total was $574.98, if you divide by 6 it's $95.83 per room per night. Cheapest rate booking directly was $179.95, with fees and taxes $203.35/per room per night, thus the total would of been $1220...
  22. Failed, 4* $108 Savannah (historic) district, 6/18/10-6/20/10 First used the HOTWIRE link, saw this was going $109/night...Going by amenities, it appeared to be the hotel that isn't on the water. Used the PRICELINE link, worked my way up to $108 and did not get it. Changed my strategy and will create a separate post.
  23. Wife and I have been tag teaming using betterbiddings PRICELINE link... Best available from Hilton.com w/fees and taxes $316...Total priceline was $99 Same dates: 4* Raleigh-Durham (Chapel Hill) $50 - failed 4* Raleigh-Durham (Chapel Hill) $60 - failed 3.5* Raleigh-Durham (Durham) $33 - failed 3.5* Raleigh-Durham (Durham) & (Chapel Hill) $40 - success Overall I'm happy :)
