  1. Have decided to stick with my back up because I've stayed there before. All bids up to $66 USD were rejected on 3* or 4* for this period in Brisbane. Thank you for your help.
  2. going to keep trying. It's for the Springsteen shows at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Boondall, so anywhere in Aspley/Chermside/Northgate/Zillmere areas is where I'm trying for (within about 15 minutes driving of the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.) My back up hotel is a 3* in Aspley which is approximately $76 USD per night. I would like to try to find something in the same general area, but just cheaper if I can as I'm going right around Australia/New Zealand.
  3. I only tried for a 3* and kept bidding up to $64 USD but all rejected. Fail.
  4. Travelodge Phoenix Downtown. Suited my needs well. I just had to be close to the Talking Sticks Arena in Downtown, and it was walking distance away.
  5. Sorry, just realised that they have a "Zillmere area" as well. Both the "Zillmere area" and "Chermside/Northgate area" would be suitable areas.
  6. Maximum bid (before taxes/fees) - Approximately $60 USD per night.
  7. Hi again, I'm familiar with HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS (thank you for your past help), however I'm a complete dummy to PRICELINE bidding. I presently have a refundable hotel booking in this area for a total amount of $575 AUD ($420 USD). I am willing to bid a total amount (including taxes) of approximately $475 AUD ($347 USD). Would appreciate any help.
  8. 4* Adelaide $57 PRICELINE EXPRESS was indeed Hotel Grand Chancellor Adelaide on Currie. I'm very happy with that! Thank you very much.
  9. Thanks for the suggestions on the Priceline Express hotels I'm just working out which one to take. I'll use your links and report back when I do as to what they were. With the HOTWIRE one, yes I'm definitely still seeing the Hotwire 4.5* in the City East Zone ($66 now). Regardless of whether I leave the default room choice or change it to 1 Adult.

I notice the same hotels are slightly cheaper by using Bidding Helper instead of the Priceline Express site itself??? Thank you for your help once again.
  12. Thank you very much Aaron for your help. I took your advice and went for the PRICELINE EXPRESS hotel and you were spot on! I got the Comfort Inn/Suites Goodearth and am very happy at that price!! That is less than what I would have paid for a crummy Backpackers with shared bathroom (yuk).
  13. Free Internet, Smoke-free rooms, Self-service laundry, Internet access 70% recommended (5 reviews) 3 out of 5 (301 - 500 reviews) Because Hotwire is not common in Australia as it is the US, is the hotel more likely to be an international chain familiar with Hotwire? Or could it just be any garden variety 3* hotel? Holiday Inn Express? Help would be much appreciated because Perth WA is expensive and I'm staying 7 nights to see Bruce Springsteen :)
  14. Thanks for the replies! I was hoping it was the Super 8 (which would have met my needs for location) but I take your advice and I'm going to pass on this one. I did compare the Trip Advisor ratings and I did see that Super 8 actually has a 3.5 Trip Advisor rating compared with this Hotwire hotel which only has a 2 (I agree that a 2 out 5 is indeed getting "scary!!!! but 3.5 on the other hand I can go with). I wasn't sure however about being able to compare by Trip Advisor ratings though, because while Super 8's Trip Advisor rating is 3.5, that rating is out of 271 reviews, and Hotwire says that their Trip Advisor rating is 2 out 5 out of 100 reviews. So I gather that I can generally rely on that Trip Advisor rating on Hotwire compared against the hotel I think it might be, despite the number of reviews? Or at least not expect such a difference as this?
  15. 1 room/1 adult 3/7-3/11 Free Internet Free Parking Free Breakfast Business Centre Golf Nearby Pet Friendly Pool Self Service Laundry 57% off. Normally $96 p/n Hotwire Price $41 p/n Trip Advisor 2 out of 5. Hotwire 25%. I'm guessing Super 8 Downtown?
  16. I booked this hotel as the hotels on offer through Hotwire for this area on this date weren't changing and the prices were always remaining stable. It was the Holiday Inn Brussels Airport. Happy with result as I expected it was the Holiday Inn. Please add this hotel to your Hotels list and I hope it may help others as well! Thanks.
  17. Thanks for that. Yes your're right it obviously unfortunately can't be the Sheraton. I think it's in fact the Holiday Inn Brussels Airport - which is a match for all the ammenities and the T/A rating. If it's the Holiday Inn, then booking direct with Holiday Inn is $187. Hotwire is $170 after tax. Only relatively small saving so I'm just still considering and watching prices.
  18. Can you please help ID this hotel. Amenites: Shuttle Fitness Pool Restaurant Internet Tennis 3.5/5 T/A Am hoping to stay at the Sheraton Brussels Airport and was hoping this was it.
  19. Please disregard checking on this one. I've decided to book directly with "Hotel Balm Meggen" instead, due to their very positive reviews on Trip Advisor. Thank you anyway. Sorry I haven't been doing searches as well through your links. I make the purchases through your links no worries, but I didn't realise I should be doing my searches through your site as well. I'd always been doing the searches separately, then going through your link to book. For my own information, I've also found your links to other providers like Hotels.com that you told me about in another thread which I'll use in future too. You have a great forum that deserves all support.
  20. Ammenities are: Complimentary breakfast Fitness Restaurant Laundry Located 0-1 mile from city centre. 3.5/5 T/A. "Still gathering reviews". Any ideas what this Hotel may be?
  21. Thanks again Yellowdog. I took on board your very good advice about the most important thing was being happy with the location of either hotel. (The Royal Mile and the City Centre to me are equally well situated and convenient in the middle of the city- so that solved that!) Llke you rightly said, they're both of the same standard so in the end it didn't really matter which one (just as long as it wasn't going to be the Waterfront). It was the Holiday Inn Express Royal Mile. Very happy with that as it looks lovely and it's where I want to be in Edinburgh. It dropped down to $90 when I booked it through your link. I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights, so all in all I got where I wanted to be and saved $55 I otherwise wouldn't have saved. There's a free dinner out! Thanks for your help.
