  1. Hi i want to bid for a flight on (tecnically) Monday 6/10/13 from LAS to MSP, how do I give my self a chance of getting the spirit 12:10am flight on my first bid? How would you do this since PL wont include redeyes until you miss a bid then need to change something (with red eye being one option. Yes I know its weird I WANT the spirit flight, i just dont want to take an extra day off work on Monday. Help?!
  2. Is there anywhere on the yucatan (cun, isla, playa, akumal, tulum, or cozumel) that I can get a reasonable hotel price? Can anyone share any success stories booked thru this site for those times? Been to the are many times just never on/around NYEve. Thanks
  3. I stayed there for superbowl and booked thru this site. I was very happy with the hotel given it was like 60us. Great location, clean, pretty nice with restaurant and pool. right by all the bars and restaurants. not on beach.
  4. it was one night 2/6 for the superbowl. 67$ per night. The hotel was ok, location was very good and convenient.
  5. your guess was right on as always. I booked 1 night using ur HOTWIRE link. thanks again...
  6. ok we are on the move up and down yucatan. playa del carmen is where we will be 2-6 thru 2-8-11 on the way to belize. 67$// we see a 4* hotel is playa area with the following amenities.. Smoke Free Rooms Property offers at least one pool area; hours Restaurant(s) Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Recommended in 90% of customer reviews any ideas?? thx
  7. To aviod the college antics you can try to go up the food chain until they cant afford to stay where you are (4.5* 5 star) or change locations. The moderator recommended rivira maya, I have also stayed on Isal Mujeres which offers Privilege Aluxes 4* AI on HOTWIRE a lot..
  8. Never used that site, i was going to at one point but the reviews are a little dicey. Google 'bookit.com reviews' and check it out. If somehow you find out it's the ME by melia that is on HOTWIRE I think thats the best hotel in cancun that ive stayed in (which is like 15-20 all 3.5 to 4.5 stars). But I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I would not recommend ME for kids, families, old people, walmart people. It's more modern, trendy, i've seen models, UFC fighters, 'B' celeberties there, etc.. a lot of good looking people 25 - low 40's I'd say.. many countries represneted especially south american..perfect Location, adult pool with DJ, bottle service, private beach area to keep annoying vendors out, great food (and i NEVER like hotel food) FWIW I never heard anyhting good or bad about Grand Caribe Park Royal, reviews seem generally positive since I researched it for my own trips. Fiesta americana seems well thought of as well but I never stayed there.
  9. Last time I was there aqua was AI. But if you get it somehow and it's not AI i would not be disappointed. The hotel/beach/location/pools are all fantastic. I don't usually eat at hotels (rather go into town to eat) so i cant comment on the food.
  10. I decided (my girlfriend decided) we are going to belize. So I tried to search HOTWIRE using ur links for hotels in Caye caulker, but hotwire doesnt offer hotels there. Since we are flying in/out of cancun, if i need a hotel there i will book the south HZ 69$// and let the board know what I get. I do not anticipate need to do that but taking water taxis and busses up and down yucatan...anything is possible..
  11. The Aqua is absolute homerun. Probably the best hotel in cancun (except my favorite the ME) right next door. The location of both makes AI obsolete, 5 min bus ride to al the good eats/drinks. Aqua has best pools/beach of anywhere ive been there, and I stayed in 'cun 12 times. meridian is great too so imo you cant miss.
  12. The 4.5* (non AI) is Le meridian I THINK, *If the moderator confirms* it's a really good location, beautiful hotel. Very Good deal, imo @ 119//. It is quieter, nice, relaxing, upscale, diverse....
  13. I am not a moderator, just a guest (here working on my own trip and contribute when I can)... but IF they tell you it's GR solaris I have stayed there and it's around 200$ a night is a good price. GR solaris is a little far south but really its 5 min extra on the bus is all. I just had bkfst buffet which was average, and went out for dinner every night (too many good spots in cun to eat AI dinners) so I cant comment on the dinner food @ hotel. Snacks by the pool were avg to good, about what you'd expect for ~100$us per person per day. Drinks were avg, service was good to very good. Rooms were what you would expect. The entertainment by the pool was funny. More adult than for kids, drinking contests..etc
  14. sorry. I wasnt trying to rank the likelihood, but other threads had bashed than gran melia, I was saying that other than the Hilton, I think GM is the best hotel of those four probable's. I have stayed at GM and go back to visit the beach there even when I stay somewhere else. I've stayed at all four actually. If there is a knock on the westin it's the farthest south of all the major hotels on the bus route. Other than that its good. The omni was crowded and I dont like it, but most others I've talked to do like it. Lots of americans, (im american) lots of kids, etc. I love the GMelia, and its sister property the ME is my favorite hotel in CUN, (but its now AInclusive.) If you get any melia hotel get a Melia card and bkfst buffet is half off. 25$us pp / 2 adds up after a week or so. its good too, and i generally hate buffets. The hilton is really cool too but ive only done the villas (smaller upgrade fee than u'd think) I'm guessing the villas are not the room u get on hotwire, but like anything in mexico if you ask nice and maybe slip a few pesos into the conversation U have a fighting chance...
  15. FWIW - Im a 35 y/o male who travels for fun, with friends or girlfriend (not family), and doesnt want to sit on a computer, or cook food in my room... I've been to Cancun 10+ times and would rank the south HZ 4* hotels being mentioned here (in sveral threads) as possibilities Hilton Gran Melia Westin Omni also I never eat in the hotels except to snack/occasional bkfst buffet, too many great places to try at waaaay better prices so food is not factored in my rankings.
  16. I'm also interested in this one out there on 3/20-24, northHZ is a good area, cant think of any 4* condo situation that would be too bad. If anyone books it pls follow up. TIA..
  17. ahhh. I have purchased using ur HOTWIRE link before but wasnt aware I had to begin searches using it. I will attemp to update my bookmark to prevent further dealy. Thx

  24. yikes. ok last qstn and thanks for yor time. If i just bid around 70$ for a 'resort' on priceline do you think i would get gran melia like others have been? I'm just asking what your best guess is and I read the no whining/complaining :) i do not expect a guarantee and wont complain. I see the GM, omni, westin, and hilton on there but the recent ones have ALL been GMelia. Thanks a lot guys. **** 2/16 - 2/24/10 ********resort cancun
