  1. Aug 3->Aug 7 4* (Magnificent Mile - River North) at $130/night - Warwick Allerton Hotel Chicago I think the Priceline.com area is named differently than the BetterBidding.com area. (Magnificent Mile - River North) Also, my dates ended up changing (mon->fri instead of tues->sat) Unsuccessful attempts: I started bidding from $100->$125/night for a 4* hotel in both the North Michigan Ave - River North area and the Millennium park - loop - grant park area I took a break, and when I came back to bidding I read AaronJB's advice about sticking to the River North area. I then bid on 3.5* hotels from $90->$110/night I then bid on 3* hotels from $80->$100/night Question: i will be driving into town and then parking, probably for most of my trip (hopefully most things within walking distance) obviously easiest to leave at the hotel, but is there a somewhat close, safe, lot close by that would save me significant money? like, i'll park it a couple blocks away if it'll end up saving me $40. but i'm not going to want to take a train 45 minutes to my car. :)
  2. $150 a night before taxes & fees. do i have a chance to win a 4* with that budget?
  3. Hi, First time Chicago tourist looking to stay downtown. I think I want either "millenium park - the loop - grant park" or "magnificent mile - river north area" although i'm open to suggestions too. what would prices be like for these areas, either 3*-4* hotels for a 4 night stay starting Aug 4?
  4. was bidding in $5 increments for a downtown hotel. 4* $50-$125 nothing. 3.5* $80-$115 nothing. 3* $80, and then my winning $85 bid. at $80 they asked if i wanted to instantly rebid for $100, so i knew i was getting close. as always i used the betterbidding.com PRICELINE link. thanks.
  5. tried numerous bids, $30, $35, $40, $44 and then $48 did it.
  6. first of all, thank you for all your help thereuare. I used the PRICELINE link at the end of your message. i secured St. Louis Union Station Marriott (4* downtown st louis) for a bid of $52 ($67.51 after taxes and fees) i bid $40, $45, $48, $50, all were rejected before the $52 bid was accepted. 2009/04/01 - 2009/04/02
  7. so i came accross RE-Bidding.com and notice there is over 250 combinations to rebid at for a 4* downtown st.louis hotel. if i had the time i'm sure i could start at $1 and keep rebidding, incrementing $0.25 each time to find the lowest price for the day.. heh. has PRICELINE ever accepted a bid when it first tells you its impossible to get such a low bid accepted? does the strategy change at all if you are looking for 2 rooms?
  8. Hi, i'm looking for a place to stay downtown st. louis april 1/09. i'd like 4* because it appears you can secure 4* lodging fairly cheap. I've never used priceline before. how low should i start bidding? it also appears to be a plethora of rebid zones to use since there are no other 4*? because of this, how large should each increment be? when i do get a room, will there be extra charges for parking, or resort charges, or anything that i should be aware of? also, i'm curious what order i should go in - if it matters at all? it gives me 9 choices of zones, with #1 being downtown. so, 1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4.. 1-9 then 1-2-3, 1-2-4.. 1-2-9 then 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-5.. 1-2-3-9 ? any help will be appreciated. i've tried to read as many FAQs and help threads as i could, but i may have missed something - there is so much info!
