  1. I booked 2 star at Nob Hill area from may1 to may 4 this is saturday to tuesday. I got the Grant Plaza, yes Grant not Grand! It is located at the Grant Avenue and looks like a well run 2 star hotel! I am lucky with my winning bid, even the price would be the same on the hotel website! 3 nights include tax are 209,71 US, I think it is a fair price, nothing special. The priceline was horrible, I stoped there at 50,- US for a 2 star!
  2. I tried many things to get a room in San Francisco from may 1 to may 4. This is from Saturday to tuesday, so 3 nights at a good time of the year to visit the city. I read many things about the hotels here at the forum and stayed with the advise. I spend some time making bids but stopped at 50.- plus tax for a 2 star hotel. This was my last time with priceline, I tried in many cities around the world at different times, but never found a great deal. It is really a waste of time!!! I got lucky at hotwire this time. Okay I hope this was interesting to everybody, Good luck!
  3. The rate 76,05 US include tax and fee is for check in Tue Apr 27 and check out Thu Apr 29. I booked about 5 weeks ahead, it will be "standard room" without breakfast. The hotel has amenities like: casino, fitness center, pool(s), restaurant(s), business center, high-spped internet access, golf nearby, tennis nearby, spa services. I have the feeling right now it is the only 4 star hotwire lists as "south strip" :)
  4. Everybody knows the Las Vegas Hotel price go up when it gets closer to the weekend, so I split my stay tue, wed on the strip and thu fri south of the strip. Thanks a lot to this forum making it easy to identify "4 star Near Strip South area Hotel" in my case I got the South Point Hotel and Casino, same as many other posted here! The hotels looks great from the comments on the internet and if you have a rental car the location is no problem. Thanks to everybody here making good posts! The price was nothing special 59,- plus tax so total of 69,67 US a night.
  5. 4 star hotel in south strip was no surprise this year again, it got me the MGM Grand. I got it last year for about the same rate, this year it is even lower. Well 65,- plus tax makes it total 76,05 US for a tue and wed night! No GREAT deal because on the MGM website you could get the room for 80,- plus tax. Anyway I am happy with that price, it is worth for the MGM Grand, great location, great rooms, nothing to complain! :)
  6. I am looking for a hotel myself and checked this one out. It looks good but the next MRT Station is more than 1 kilometer away. I do not like taxis so I think I will better not try PRICELINE and book the ibis Northpoint close to MRT Station. I will have a tiny clean room but with better connections... I hope this comment is helpful, I not compare a 2 star ibis with a 4 star....do not get me wrong.
  7. In February 2010 I was bidding on an 5 star hotel in Singapore, I tried many times starting 14 days before arrival, I was just playing because I had a good reservation with the ibis on Bencoolen. I hope my experience is helpful anyway. My highest bid was 80,- US plus tax which would be in Singapore with the priceline 18,63 US Dollar or 23,3 %. 6 days before arrival they offered my if I raise my bid by 22,- US Dollar they would be able to provide me a room. 102,- US Dollar plus tax 23,3 % total 125,77 US per night with no breakfast. I gave it up and stayed with my reservation of the ibis on Bencoolen which was about 120,- US include breakfast and a free city tour. Not cheap for a 3 star hotel, but I was happy with the new room and the good location of the hotel. I am disappointed with priceline.... :)
  8. :) This febuary 2009 I made some bidding on priceline for a hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. My offer for a four star hotel was 40,- (54,26 include tax) was rejected, the 50,- US (66,15 include tax) was rejected, too. I made the bidding 2 days before arrival. The normal booking on the priceline website was for a four star hotel Holiday Inn Silom 68,- US plus tax. I stop bidding and did NOT book a room at priceline. I think they do not offer a good deal in Bangkok right now. Why should I do the bidding on a unknow hotel just to save 5,- US? I book with Accor Hotels, great selection and price. I hope this helps you a little bit, keep trying to get a good price!!
  9. Yes no problem, I got lots of help here before I made my first booking with HOTWIRE. I wish more people would post their results here from hotwire bookings. When I return there will be a big report on my website including pictures of hotel, room and so on. My website is in german language only, sorry about that...
  10. In Feb 2009 I choose a 4 Star Hotel South Strip on Hotwire, The hotel features on the hotwire website : casino, gym, swimming pool, restaurant, business center, golf, and tennis. Note: no Spa or Resort!! This information may help to identify the hotel. It turned out to be the MGM Grand. Here the details of my booking: reservation made on feb 23. check in may 22 which is a friday! check out may 23 price without tax 69,- US include tax 81,69 US Dollar the price on MGM website would be 185,29 US include tax for the same day may 22 and book on the same day feb 23. My savings 56% about 103,60 US Dollar, BUT I can not cancel the HOTWIRE booking, the MGM direct booking can be canceled with no charge (details on their website). :) I think after all I got a good deal. I hope my little report was helpful, if I forgot something please let me know.
