1. Would appreciate bidding strategy for ESB, MTE, UWS, MTW and SOHO. Maximum bid $180 before taxes. Will definitely use PRICELINE link. Thanks.
2. Have stayed twice at The Empire (thanks to this site) and really like the residential feel of the upper west - zabars, etc. However if this area stretches too far north without any subway, then it will be a no go for me. Agree to drop CPS and MTE, although i did stay at The Benjamin once. Since I have some time before the trip proper, would like to have a go with PL where prices are much lower than Hotwire. Await your bidding strategy. Thanks in advance.
3. All flights booked but no back-up plan on hotels yet. As such, really appreciate assistance to bid for 4-star hotel preferably at UWS, CPS or MTE, since we have stayed there before. However, am open to other areas with easy accessibility to subway (a must) although still a tiny wary of TS. I know September is a pricey month, but hoping to win a deal below $180 (before taxes), or is this wishful thinking? Many thanks.
4. That's good to know and I am sure I will love Portland. Thanks everyone for the invaluable assistance to help me clinch this deal.
5. After days of bidding, won The Benson at $138 and I think I started too high at 120, 125, 130, 135, 138 as I had been trying up to $180 for the last few days. Saw a $178 downton 4* property at Hotwire, which for the last 3 days had nothing on 4*' so thought I'll try PL again. I do hope its a nice property at a good location as its the first time for me at Portland. Thanks for your addistance. Used the PRICELINE link.
6. For 4 star up to $160 and 3.5 star up to $135 and all at downtown only. I am unsure about the waterfront. There is a HOTWIRE 4 star property but reviews aren't so great but what are your views. Yes as always, I use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links. Tks
7. Do I still have enough time to wait for prices to lower or should I bid for a 3star instead? I dont have any backup plan yet. Thanks
8. Thanks Romelle, but I am taking the afternoon Amtrak back to Vancouver. Hotwire has a 4 star (Deluxe?) at $148 and a 3.5 star at $157. Why is a 3.5 star more pricey than a 4 star. The 3.5 amenities are as below - is it Hotel Fifty? Free Internet Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower
9. Bidded up to $135 for 3.5 star and up to $158 for 4 star. Still unsuccessful. It seems 6/24 to 6/29 is a busy period. Any idea what's happening? Should I wait, lower to 3 star or accept HOTWIRE. Would not be driving so accessibility to public transport is crucial. Always used the board PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links. Thx.
10. Happy to win this bid as the second portion of my YVR trip will also be at this property. Started off at 80 and was asked to top up to $147/- at $115/-. Using free rebids, won at $127/-. As with my previous win, is the trick to minus $20/- from offer price. No? The challenge now is to bid for my portland hotel.
11. Have bidded up to my limit for 4 star but still unsuccessful. Please assist with bidding strategy for 3.5 star. Will keep Hotwire offer as a last minute resort. Thx again.
12. Please note the win is for 6/29/13-7/3/13. I am unable to edit the topic. Sorry. Started at $80.00 and when bidded up to $115.00, was asked to top up $28.00 to $143.00. Ignored and was accepted at $125/-. Why are prices higher this year compared to my last year wins? I need now to bid for Vancouver for first leg of stay checking in June 22 for 2 nights. Any tips for trying to win at Hyatt so that I could keep my luggage at the hotel prior to my Van-PDX-Van trip.
13. I have checked on HOTWIRE and express deals, and am hoping to get one of the kimptons or hotel modera, am not too keen on the governor or benson. However, will chance it and bid 4star up to my limit and if unsuccessful will try 3.5 or lower. Dont mind giving HOTWIRE a try too. Thanks.
14. Please assist on bidding strategy for Portland. Dont really mind a good 3 star(like the marriott which had good reviews) or a 4 star. Will pay tops 130 and if possible a hotel near public transportation. Thanks in advance.
15. Just won 1 nite @$80.00 with taxes totalling $100.88. Looking forward to staying at this property as it has great reviews.
16. Started off at $75/- using the 9 rebids for 4star. When I reached $115, was counter-offered to $139. Bidded in $2/- increments and got the Sheraton Seattle at $120/-. Dont know if its a good deal, but we just needed one night downtown before we catch the Amtrak Cascades to Vancouver. Used the PRICELINE link.
17. Just needed one night at the airport before a Port hardy flight so started off at $60/- in $2 incremental bids. Relatively easy bid and wondered if i started off too high?
18. Started off with $80/- and at $112/- was asked to top up $33 to $145/-. Used last 2 sets of free rebids and got the hotel at $128/-. Never stayed at this property but reviews seem pretty good. Did i bid correctly? Tks
19. Started with $70 with $5 cash bonus. At $100 was counter offered $124. Ignored and got sheraton wall at $103+5. Used the PRICELINE link. Thanks.
20. Won The Empire at $143/- total $1001+178.29+41.72=$1221.01 Was asked to top up $40/- when I bidded $130/- for ESB, MTE and UWS. Ignored and persevered to $143.00 (using $30 bonus reward) and got The Empire. Very pleased as we have stayed there in 2010 (won at $120 then). Used the PRICELINE link. Thanks a trillion. Now have to wing my vancouver and Seattle stays. :)
21. Okay, i would want to try all previous bid zones and Soho up to $190/-. And if this doesn't work out, then bid the 3.5 star. Thank you for your patience :)
22. I will go along with your recommendation of the 3 strategies. Tks
23. My max bid will be $190 tops as rates are crazy this year! What if I include soho as I have seen some good wins at sherton tribeca? Is it near the subway? Or alternatively drop to a 3.5 star? Am also tempted to use Hotwire if all else fails. Definitely using yr PRICELINE link. Thanks a trillion again!
24. TS was intentionlly left out as we felt it was too touristy. However, we would now have to revisit our options and now include this zone. And yes, I did click the PRICELINE link at the top of the page when I bidded. Tks again.
