  1. The Twins are home that weekend. I am trying for the next weekend June 17-19 with no luck up to $75 for a 4*. I may try again this weekend, otherwise may try the West Minneapolis area and hope to win the Doubletree, which is a short trip to downtown.
  2. I used the betterbidding HOTWIRE link to make booking. Successfully won the Hilton Minneapolis and Towers downtown Minneapolis, using the information on this board. I chose to use Hotwire over Priceline because someone recently won the Hyatt downtown via Priceline, which is a hotel I didn't want. $62 per night, booked for 1 night. Amenities: Smoke-Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access
  3. This hotel was an excellent win for our wedding anniversary trip. We hadn't bid or stayed at the Sofitel prior, but know this area, as we've stayed across the street at the Sheraton many times through Priceline. On our way to the Cities, we called ahead to ask about early check-in and to request a king room. The person on the phone advised it would be an additional $10 per night to be upgraded to a "Deluxe King", which I thought was a great deal since I originally won by bidding $55 per night. We were also able to check-in early, about 1:30 pm. The staff was very accommodating our whole stay. Our hotel room and building overall was very nice. The hotel was very quiet on the weekend we were there. The best part was when we checked out, the person helping us wished us a happy anniversary, and advised there wouldn't be an additional charge for the upgrade to a "Deluxe King" room. An excellent gesture from the hotel, I thought. This is one of our new favorite hotels in the Minneapolis/St Paul area, and we would definitely stay there again, using the betterbidding PRICELINE link of course. This is a big step up from the Sheraton. If you are looking at the Bloomington West area, and don't need a pool, try this hotel, as it's the only 4* in the zone.
  4. Trying for and successfully won the Hilton Garden Inn downtown St Paul, using the information on this board. We haven't stayed at this hotel prior, but it's location is perfect for this trip. Used the betterbidding HOTWIRE link to make booking. $49 per night, booked for 1 night. Amenities: Fitness Center Pool Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access
  5. Started at $45 for 4*, used free rebid zones in $2 increments, until win at $55. As always, used the PRICELINE link. I am a longtime PRICELINE bidder and have used this board many times. I haven
  6. Trying for and successfully won the Crowne Plaza Northstar downtown Minneapolis. We have stayed here before, and this hotel perfectly suits our needs for this trip. Used the betterbidding HOTWIRE link to make booking. $54 per night for 3 nights. Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access
  7. Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up staying with and bidding on a 2*, as per the history, winning the Fairfield Inn on my 1st bid at $37 I used the PRICELINE link to bid. Thanks
  8. I'm looking to bid at Grand Forks for tomorrow Sat 1/15. There is a 2.5* (best deal) on Priceline for tomorrow. I've never seen anyone list that they have won a 2.5* in Grand Forks. Anyone know what hotel this would be? I may throw a bid at it, or just stick with the 2* category.
  9. I wanted to try winning this hotel since it is centrally between the Zoo and MOA. I chose Eagan area and 3*. First bid $38, came back with message to re-bid at $48. I declined the offer, and used free rebid zones to increase $1 each time, until winning at $41. Total room cost with tax/fees for 2 nights: $100.62. As always, I used the PRICELINE link. This site is great for researching what to bid.
  10. Used the PRICELINE link. Won on 1st bid @ $38. Bloomington West - Mall of America area, 3.5*, Bloomington Sheraton, 2 nights 4/10 -4/12. Was hoping to win the new Hilton in this area, but have stayed here prior and this will work for our stay.
  11. 3.5*, Downtown Minneapolis Smoke free rooms, fitness center, restaurant, business center, laundry facilities, hi-speed internet access Used the HOTWIRE link. 1st time using Hotwire. I use PRICELINE for hotels quite frequently, but wanted this specific hotel, and it was a great price so I figured I would try Hotwire this time and was successful and very pleased. I will definitely use HOTWIRE again in the future.
  12. Yes, i'm sorry, this post should be corrected for correct check-in date of 10/17
  13. Started at $55, bid rejected, used free rebid zones and added 3 1/2* level, bidding @ $5 increments to win @ $80. More than I wanted to spend and don't exactly love this hotel, but it's downtown which was my goal. I have stayed here before and personally think this hotel is not worth a 4* rating. Must be a lot going on that weekend, usually winning this hotel or the Millenium across the street for $50 is no problem.
  14. Won 3.5* Minneapolis-St Paul (Downtown Minneapolis) Radisson, $48, 1 night for 8/15/09. Started bidding at $45 and upped bid $1 each time using free rebid zones. I did my research and wanted this hotel so it worked out perfectly. Used the PRICELINE link. Thanks much.
  15. 2* Fairfield Inn Grand Forks - Won for 1 night Feb 28 $45.00 I used the 2 previous posts and decided to place an opening bid of $45.00 for a 2*. I was successful. Based on past experiences trying to book hotel rooms in Grand Forks, I was very happy with this win. Usually Grand Forks is very difficult to land a deal on in the wintertime, especially on weekends because of all the activities in town. It must be a slow weekend coming up!
