  1. Wow thanks for the recommendations. Now looking at hotels for a family reunion in Mid August. Possibly Wisconsin Dells.
  2. Booked. Started bidding at $90 (4 stars), rejected and started adding zones and $5 increments. Got to $115 and got: W Hotel Hoboken Jersey City 225 River Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030 Dates: July 28 - July 31 (3 nights) I did use the PRICELINE link.
  3. Thanks. I am very familiar with the rebidding process (because of Betterbidding). I will definitely update once I finalize my plans.
  4. Yes I will take the risk of getting 1 bed. I have never had a problem in the past. Thanks.
  5. Thanks for the help. Yes definitely would pay $115-135 for a 4 star. My biggest concern (since we have a young family): 1. Safety!!!!! 2. Location (close to PATH) 3. Somewhere where there are options to eat since I hate getting ripped off eating at the hotel 4. If availiable free parking
  6. I am comfortable with anything that is around $100 depending on the quality of the hotel. So what area should I be bidding on if I want a hotel near the PATH. The PATH appears to be the best option of getting into and out of New York, unless you know of a better option.
  7. I am planning our next trip and the wife wants to go to NYC. Was checking around and I think the best place to stay is in New Jersey and take the PATH over to NYC. Plans have changed now and we are looking at July 28 - July 31. Was going to bid on Priceline but would take Hotwire if it is close to the PATH. We definitely want a hotel at least 3.5 but would be delighted with a 4 at a very good price. Did see a hotel (Residence Inn 3 stars but includes breakfast) in Elizabeth, NJ but I am unfamiliar with the area and not sure if it is near the PATH. So I guess my question what should I do to try and get a hotel near the PATH.
  8. Just found this thread and reading through it. Not sure why but the wife wants to go to New York (we got back from Vegas on June 9th). Anyways, what is the best location to get a hotel that offers shuttle to New York City or close proximity to safe transit?
  9. I did the $20 trick at the Vdara on June 4th. It worked!!!!! Got upgraded from a deluxe (500 sq feet) to a 800 sq foot suite overlooking the Bellagio fountains on the 50th floor. Wife absolutely loved the room.
  10. It is where you slip the hotel clerk $20 and ask them if they have any complimentary hotel room upgrades. I will be doing this on June 4th at the Vdara (my wife will be hiding). I will let you know how I do.
  11. Was offered $5 per day Priceline. Went through the PRICELINE link and tried $10 plus the $5 for a Full Size. Got declined 2 days in a row. So I tried a $12 bid plus the $5 and got: Alamo Full Size Car Offer Price Summary Bonus Cash Per Day: $5.00 (per day) Your Offer Price Per Day: $12.00 (per day) Total Offer Price with Bonus: $17.00 (per day) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Charges to Your Credit Card Your Offer Price: $12.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 5 days(4 days and 21 hours) Subtotal: $60.00 Taxes and Fees: $61.33 Total Charges: $121.33 Lowest Published Price: $222.82 Total Savings:* $101.49 (You saved 46%) Very happy with the results.
  12. Been looking around and trying to decide what hotel to book for our upcoming Vegas trip. At first booked a hotel off of the strip for $94 a night but it had breakfast included. Decided I wanted to stay on the strip since I don't want to walk around during the late evening (especially if I win at the casino, LOL). Anyways, put in a bid this morning while at work for $85 5* Strip South. I got rejected and offer a free rebid for $110. I declined and wanted to wait until the evening. Started the bidding at $80 for 5* and increased it by $5 by adding zones (not Strip North or Strip North Condo). Finally hit it at $100 and got: Vdara Hotel & Spa At Citycenter Las Vegas Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South 2600 W Harmon Ave Las Vegas, Nevada 89109 Now we are very happy with the results. I know they charge the dreaded $20 extra fee but hey we knew what we were getting into. Bring the whole family so not having a casino and non smoking is excellent. This hotel has great reviews. I did use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for searches (numerous times). Oh yea, the Hotwire rate was $110 and shot up to $117 last night. I was ready to take it at $110. Thanks Betterbidding!!!!!!!!
  13. Coming home now and decided to stop for a night on Sunday. I bid $40 earlier and was impressed with the Four Points by Sheraton Pittsburgh North. So I decided to bid $40 again to see if I can get his hotel. I got: Four Points By Sheraton Pittsburgh North Cranberry Township 910 Sheraton Drive Mars, Pennsylvania 16046 Definitely happy with the time we spent for the 1st time. Hotel was maybe a bit dated but that was all. We may eat there for breakfast but there are a ton of choices outside. I did use the PRICELINE link.
  14. Needed a room for a stopover for a night during the Easter weekend. Saw some recent bidding ending around mid 50s. So I started low at $40 and got: Four Points By Sheraton Pittsburgh North Cranberry Township 910 Sheraton Drive Mars, Pennsylvania 16046 I did use the PRICELINE link.
  15. Was bidding last night trying to get a 3.5* at Pittsburgh Airport area. Started bidding from $50 - $70 with no such luck. Tried today and put in a bid of $40 for a 3* and got: Four Points By Sheraton Pittsburgh Airport Pittsburgh Airport (PIT) One Industry Lane Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15275 We have stayed there before and it was okay. Definitely used the PRICELINE link for the purchase and searches.
  16. Need to get a room for a couple of nights in Buffalo. Saw the previous post so decided to bid $56. It was rejected and offer a free rebid at $71. Decided against that and bid $59. We got: Buffalo - Amherst 1340 Millersport Hwy Buffalo, New York 14221 We have stayed there many times and the hotel is great. I did use the PRICELINE link.
  17. We needed a quick place to stay on the drive home. I always like betting through PRICELINE but since the amenities pretty much convinced me it was going to be this hotel, we went through HOTWIRE. Price was $52 plus taxes and the amenities were: Smoke free rooms, Airport Shuttle, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Pool, Business Centre, High Speed Internet Access. Hyatt Place Pittsburgh Airport 6011 Campbells Run Road, Pittsburgh,PA,15205 Definitely used the HOTWIRE link and very happy with the results.
  18. Needed 4 rooms for the dates of Nov 25-27. So hit Priceline and bid $35. It was rejected and offered a free rebid of $45. I added a zone and bid $40. It was accepted for: Courtyard Marriott - Auburn Hills-Pontiac Auburn Hills - Pontiac 3555 Centerpoint Parkway Pontiac, Michigan 48341 I did use the PRICELINE link.
  19. I guess with the Canadian Thanksgiving has caused an increase in hotels in the Buffalo area. I was trying many times to get a 3.5 star hotel (Buffalo Marriott) and bid up to $100 with no such luck. So we went down to a 3 star knowing that the level of hotels in Buffalo are lower than the norm. Started the bidding at $45 and added zones and got: Holiday Inn Grand Island Grand Island 100 Whitehaven Road Grand Island, New York 14072 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $65.00 Subtotal: $130.00 Taxes & Fees: $28.94 Total Charges*: $158.94 I did use the PRICELINE link.
  20. The place is a dated. I remember walking in and it was like walking back to the 1970s. Other than that, it is okay especially for the price.
  21. Was trying to get a 3 star for about $50 but got rejected. They asked for $60. So I lower my star rating to 2.5 star and got it on the 1st try at $42: Courtyard By Marriott Flint Flint 5205 Gateway Center Flint, Michigan 48507 Stayed there about 10 years ago and it was a decent hotel. Unfortunately no breakfast included. I did use the PRICELINE link.
  22. Had to find a hotel quick so hit the Betterbidding.com PRICELINE link. 1st bid at $35 for a 3* Pittsburgh airport area and rejected. Offer a rebid at $45. I decline and rebid by adding a zone for $38. Another reject and offer another rebid at $48. I decline and rebid for $41 and got: Four Points by Sheraton Pittsburgh Airport One Industry Lane Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15275 United States Not too bad for the price for an overnight stay.
  23. I am here right now and I have to say the hotel is a bit dated. There are a couple of stains on the carpet and the internet is incredibly slow. The room also had a smell to it but after turning on the air conditioning the smell was gone. Yes the pool is outside but I am only stayin here for 1 night for a stop over from driving all day. We are going to try the buffet breakfast (family of 5) since the price is not too bad for a hotel. I have stayed at the Marriott near the Four Points and it is much better quality than this one. The hotel is a bid secluded and it appears a lot of people use it for hitting the airport in the morning. The place was very quiet.
  24. Yes please do reply back. I am interested in how the hotel stay was.
  25. Just a followup on this hotel. It is simply awesome. Best Residence Inn we have stayed at ever hands down. I believe the hotel is just under a year old. So it is fairly brand new. Also not a continental breakfast but a hot breakfast buffet. Even got my car serviced in a hour. Also made the mistake of staying over at family on Friday night so we left a room night dark in Pittsburgh but we did eventually make it. I know there are no changes ever on Priceline so my loss (small when you compare the amount we have saved).
