  1. Their best rate online was $139, and since I didn't have time for rebids, bid and won at $65. The hotel was very nice, new, clean, very pretty and upscale. Only issue: I called before bidding to ask about fitting 5 people in a room. The man on the phone told me they don't have suites (even though they actually have 4) but they'd gladly give us a rollaway bed free of charge. So I went ahead with the bid, confident from other posts here that I'd get the Hyatt. On the day we were to check-in, I called again to confirm our bedding request. The lady who answered told me that due to fire codes, they've never allowed rooms with 2 doubles to have rollaways. They could only put a rollaway in a room with a king bed! She said we could get another connecting room, but since we booked on PL she didn't know what rate we'd paid. I told her $65, and she said she couldn't match that b/c the regular rate was $149 (she didn't mention the $139 online rate or the $109 Hotels.com rate I'd seen). I told her I'd call back. We were on the road, so I considered having my mom book another room via PL, but she wasn't home. So we decided to call back and ask for a manager - turns out she was the manager :) This time, she said they could put 2 rollaways in a room with a king bed, but still couldn't do the 1 rollaway and 2 doubles! ??? We still weren't sure, but decided we'd look at them when we got there, and figured one of the kids could sacrifice and sleep on pillows on the floor for one night ;-) She said she'd hold 1 of each room for us to look at when we arrived. When we got there, she was very friendly, and upgraded us to a golf course view when I asked for it. We chose the king room with 2 rollaways. My 2 daughters and I took the king, and my son and husband each got a rollaway. They were not the fold up kind, but were actual mattresses on sturdy platforms that tipped up on end for moving. I think it was likely as comfortable as the king bed. The room was a little crowded, but big enough for everything. In the end, it turned out okay, but I was really steaming for a while during our drive there. On a previous visit to Magic Mountain, we'd stayed at the Holiday Inn & Suites, where each room has 2 queens plus a sofa sleeper, microwave, fridge, and free breakfast. I only chose this one to save some money this time b/c I was told there would be enough beds. I'm not sure I'd do it again based on this experience.
  2. Oh, guess I didn't see that. But for future travellers, the big pool and central PV location should be noted as a giveaway :) I didn't bother booking a place while in Phoenix, just stayed with family...
  3. Bid history: First bid = $34 2.5* 1/29 - 1/31 (Folsom area only) Rejected; asked me to add at least $9 for a free rebid Second bid = $34 added 2* 1/29 - 1/31 Rejected Third bid = $36 2* added 2/1 as an extra day (since I was probably going to extend it anyway - buying a room for visiting in-laws) Accepted. 3 nights @ $36 = $108 + 21.55 tax and service fees = $129.55
  4. Just an fyi, as I haven't bid on it yet. I'm still trying to figure out the 4.5* that's only $60 night!? Anyway, based on the customer reviews(huge nice pool, restaurants overlooking pool, heart of Paradise Valley) and comparing amenities to the vacation packages, I've decided it has to be the Red Lion La Posada - which is a very nice place to stay :) Hope that helps someone!
  5. Hotwire vacation packages for Cozumel included: 4.5* Grand Cozumel by Occidental All Inclusive Resort Resort, Restaurant(s), A la Carte Dining Options, Water Sports/Ocean Activities Included, Evening Entertainment Included, Daily Activities Included, Pool(s), Spa (They are also Beachfront, but didn
  6. Hyatt Regency Monterey Initial bid price: $60 accepted Dates: 9/24 & 9/25 Taxes and service charge: $20.56 Rate on their website for that hotel and date: $179.99 per night.
  7. Started bidding at $51 - rejected Continued to bid up adding additional areas (found that none of the other Portland areas include any 4* hotels, so there are like 7 chances). $56, 61, 65... $66 - finally accepted 1 room 2 nights $132.00 subtotal $24.07 Taxes & fees $156.07 Total charges Like the last poster, I REALLY was hoping for the 5th Ave Suites, since I had already booked 09/06 there via their phone reservations (they matched Expedia's $126 rate with no hesitation). If we like the Benson well enough, I may cancel the 5th Ave and just stay all nights here.
  8. I was wondering about the same hotel! For Sep 3-5, though, it's only $124 per night. So what makes the Westing get that extra 1/2 star? I figured the next ones listed were the Mariott City Center and Hilton, and I don't see how the Westin is worth almost twice as much per night?! The same search results for me include a 3 star with free breakfast, laundry, high speed internet access. Anyone know which property that is? Again, I was intrigued, and wondered why this 3 star was $98 when the 4 and 3.5* were only $68 and $71. I ended up using Priceline instead, and will post my results there, but since I may still need another night, I'd like to know as much as I can about these others. Thanks much - and I'm glad I found this site!
