  1. I got really frustrated on this one, have been bidding for over two weeks and was looking for the Vienna Meridien. Got the Hilton instead. Please find results below. All bids made for both 4* and 5*. $90 - rejected; $95 - rejected; $100 - rejected; $105 - rejected; $110 - rejected; $120 - rejected, counteroffer for $150; $125 - rejected, counteroffer for $160; $130 - rejected, counteroffer for $165; $135 - rejected, counteroffer for $170; $140 - rejected, counteroffer for $175; $150 - rejected, counteroffer for $190; $160 - rejected, counteroffer for $200; $170 - rejected, counteroffer for $210; $180 - accepted. Best
  2. The 13th of June is a national holiday (the second Whit Sunday), availability of rooms will be limited. I would not go for any distant hotel, as taxi's are extremely expensive (airport EUR 40,- , Haarlem EUR 50,-), though trains are cheap and reliable. Why not try the Qbic hotel? New hotel in a good area, close to all major attractions (EUR 125 on Hotels.com, including taxes) and public transport options.
  3. Accepted rightaway, best rate on the website was approx. 187 USD. Good deal for that time of the year.
  4. Used the PRICELINE link on this board (hope it worked this time). First bid USD 60 for 3.5* EWR, got a counteroffer for 75. Entered a new bid for USD 65 adding Elizabeth and that bid was accepted. The website quoted USD 99, so I think this is a good deal.
  5. Adding to the above, the current HOTWIRE rate for this property appears to be USD 189, that's a USD 79 difference (this may however also be the World Center hotel, as both share the same amenitites).
  6. First bid through the PRICELINE link for USD 110, 4* in ESB, MTW, MTE, Downtown, TS, MSG, Chelsea and CPS was rejected. I increased my bid in increments of USD 5 to USD 125 and was rejected every time. Lowered the *class to 3.5* and bid 110 again, got accepted right away. Nice hotel, although next to the WTC construction site. I don't expect much noise though over Thanksgiving and the weekend. Good rate, considering the best online rate was USD 209 and NYC rates in general tend to be very high after thanksgiving. Best, Bram
  7. Living in Amsterdam, there is an easier way to get to Schiphol. It should take you no more than 30 minutes: Take tram line 1 to Station Lelylaan (5-10 minutes) and hop on the direct train to Schiphol, which runs about every 15 minutes from there. Trams and trains operate from 06.30 onwards. Enjoy your time in Amsterdam!
  8. First bid was accepted right away. Good deal, Marriott website showed GBP91 (140USD) for the same date. Used the PRICELINE link.
  9. One of the worst hotel experiences in the past year. We had been assigned a very small room near the elevator which was old and should have been renovated a few decades earlier; broken "aircon's" were repaired with tape in order to prevent winter snow and storms from entering the room. The room was too small to fit one suitcase, let alone two, and there was no closet. In short, never again. Our travelling companions had exactly the same one floor lower. The unfriendly staff added to the experience. Even for New York City this room was totally unacceptable and I have had some other very good experiences (Crowne Plaza, Hyatt). Avoid at any time!! Best
  10. Nice deal :) Used the PRICELINE link. Bid was accepted right away. Best regards
  11. Used the PRICELINE link Bids: $60 USE rejected $65 USE/Civic rejected $68 USE/Civic/Marina rejected $70 USE/Civic/Marina/SFO N rejected $75 USE/Civic/Marina/SFO N/Fisherman's W. rejected Same as above for USW instead of USE, with bidding started at $65, immediately received counteroffer for $82 (ignored), new bid at $69 accepted. Not familiar with the Park, however the location is good and hope it's a nice hotel. Best regards,
  12. After looking at a recent post decided to bid $71 for downtown Montreal on the first day of 2010. Approved right away. I am happy with the hotel, certainly as the $71 is a 40% discount on the lowest public rate for my dates. FYI - I used the PRICELINE link on this forum.
  13. Two rooms. After several bids from USD100 to USD 130 (covering ESB, CPS, MTW, MTE and MSG) for 4 star properties, increasing in increments of USD10, tried 3.5* for the same areas and got the Affinia at MSG right away. It looks nice from the hotel's website and seems a good deal. I have used the PRICELINE link. Best
  14. Failed bid for four-star in the Downtown area for USD60. First bid for USD57 3.5 star in the Convention area got accepted right away, via the PRICELINE link on this forum. Best
  15. Romelle, I totally agree with you, I have been there already a few times this year. Don't forget the wonderful Tokaj wines either, which are probably the best sweet wines in the world.. Kind regards, Bram
  16. First bid 5* $50 in Pest area: rejected, added Buda and raised to $55: rejected, Bid in Pest, 4* $50, counteroffer to increase by $14: declined (from my side). Next day: succesfull bid in Pest 4* for $55. Very happy with the Inter-Continental, absolutely a five-star hotel in Budapest. Of course I used the PRICELINE link of this forum.
  17. Price ex taxes was USD 129 and I used the HOTWIRE link on this board. Thanks
  18. 18/9/09 - 19/9/09 Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa Not so good deal, Crowne Plaza offers nearly the same rate (94 GBP incl) on their website.
  19. Received a free $25 in-mail refund after the hotel was downgraded to 3* by Hotwire yesterday.
