  1. Hello fellow travelers, Prices went up since last year as the same property was $110 for about same dates. This year the total for 5 nights is $840 including taxes and fees which is $168 per night. Thank you again for the great site!!!
  2. Thank you for reply. Our plan is to fly to JFK, rent the car there, go upstate, then go back to JFK or LGA which is closer to Manhattan, return the car and go to the hotel. It would be wiser to return the car on Manhattan but on Saturday they open until 14:30 only. Now the only option left as I see it is to give the car back at LGA and then take a ride to the hotel from there. And finally we fly back from JFK. I came across some shared shuttle services where you can buy a round trip ticket for $19 per person older than 3 years old. However they do not mention anything about the luggage and we have some :). I tend to think that taxi is the most convenient here especially when going from LGA. Regarding the baby. She sure can sleep on the bed with us, but a baby cot would be preferable. Could it also help us to get a bigger room by any chance?
  3. Hello, I would like to share my winning bid info and to thank the forum owner(s) and contributors for such a great source of information and help. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $110.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: $330.00 Taxes and Fees: $70.26 Total Room Cost: $400.26 I would also be happy to hear your recommendations regarding the following: 1. A descent shuttle/car service from JFK to the hotel and back for 2 adults, one 2 years old baby, 4 large suitcases, a stroller and a safety chair. 2. Should I call/e-mail the hotel, particularly to let them know about the baby? Thank you very much!
  4. Yep, I was hoping for the Hayatt, but the quick check for the room availability (Expedia.com) on my visiting dates is failed. There is one day in the middle which has no rooms available. Anyways, I started from Jersey City/3*/$37. After it was not accepted I added Secaucus and raised to $45 and got rejected again. The next was 2.5*/$50 - also unsuccessful and then 2*/$55 ended up with booking the Candlewood Suites Jersey City Exchange Place. The reviews on the tripadvisor.com seem to be good, so it may be a little expensive comparing to $37/Hayatt, but still good for a beginner :). Thank you for being helpful, keep it this way!
  5. Thank you for such a prompt reply. We are arriving on September 15th to EWR and staying for 5 nights (until 20th). I'm not sure about the max. bid amount as I do not know the usual rates in this area. We are planning to visit the common NY locations like Empire States Building, Liberty Statue, some famous museums, etc. What about the late night transportation? As I understand the public transportation services are not functional after midnight, right?
  6. Hi I've come across this message board and I think it's the best! We (me and my wife) are going to visit NYC in mid september (15th for 5 nights). Looking at the hotel rates in Manhattan just freaked me out. So now I'm thinking of staying in New Jersey area. The question is what zones are the most sutable for such stay? I mean the tradeoff between hotel rates/quality and easy transportation to Manhattan? The following places look pretty close (according to hotwire.com): 1. North Bergen - Rockland 2. Fort Lee - Hackensack 3. Hoboken - Jersey City 4. Secaucus - Meadowlands What would you recommend? Also what booking service is better to use PL or HW? Thank you and sorry for my English.
