  1. This is a stopover on a longer trip, so I didn't really care which area I stayed in. Looking thru these Forums, 3*'s in East seemed the cheapest, so here's the strategy (note I included Downtown just in case something lower was there... doubtful... but worth the shot). All bids for 3*: Downtown... $32 nagged about low probability East... $32 nagged again... Downton+East $35 nagged one last time about probability D/E + zone 1 $37 D/E + zone 2 $39 got a free rebid offer for +$11 D/E + z1 + z2 $41 accepted Three rebid zones for a 3* in Memphis, still had 4 additional bids left after this one, so that's why my increments were low (plus after the rebid offer to $50, I knew I was getting close). BTW, tremendous thanks to this website for the rebidding strategy, it has helped many, many times.
  2. If it's anything like the Microtel in Sandusky, OH (only an hour away), the Continental breakfast is pretty nice. It was mini-muffins, danishs, bagels, orange/apple juice, coffee, milk, and cereal. And they kept the tables stocked. :) I've seen Continental "breakfast"s before that were basically a pile of donuts. First come, first serve. I expected about the same and was pleasantly surprised.
  3. I was going for A (Downtown). There are 2 free rebid zones B (Holland) and C (Perrysburg) both only have 2.5 * Hotels. 3* A $30 Rejected - Counter offer $38 3* AB $33 3* AC $36 Accepted Wyndam Hotel, Downtown Toledo. 3* One night (8/13). $36/night. Total: $47.40 - Normal (Webrate from their website) was $75 (I believe) + Taxes.
  4. This was my newbie bid on Priceline and it went through first time, so I may have been able to get it cheaper. I was ecstatic at the price I got anyways, so... 3* $50 Chicago (ORD & Skokie-Niles) 7/23 - 7/26 Total: $179.83 (3 nights Friday - Sunday) Normal rate per Marriott website is $119/night + Taxes.
  5. 7/2 - 8/14 10am - 11pm 8/15 - 8/22 10am - 10pm 8/23 - 9/06 10am - 8pm The exceptions are weekends, but even given weekends, 8/14 is the last 13 hour day. and 9/06 is the last non-weekend date. Wanted to go on a Thursday for shorter lines (hopefully). :) -- Dan
  6. Last full hours / full week for Cedar Point... Knew this was going to be rough. Here's the bid chain (Yeah I was REALLY bargain hunting at first): $30 3* Huron Area Wed/Thu/Fri $40 3* Huron & Milan/Norwalk Areas Wed/Thu/Fri $30 2*/3* Huron Area Wed/Thu/Fri $40 2*/3* Huron & Milan/Norwalk Areas Wed/Thu/Fri $40 2*/3* Huron & Milan/Norwalk Areas Wed/Thu 2nd attempts: $60 3* Huron Area Wed/Thu/Fri $80 3* Huron & Milan/Norwalk Areas Wed/Thu/Fri $47 2*/3* Huron Area Wed/Thu/Fri $60 2*/3* Huron & Milan/Norwalk Areas Wed/Thu/Fri $66 2*/3* Huron & Milan/Norwalk Areas Wed/Thu **Accepted** Microtel Inn And Suites in Huron, OH (5 miles from Cedar Point). Total: $155.25 (2 nights), 8/11-8/13 Normal rate for this hotel for this time period is $112.95/night (2 people - Standard Room) + Taxes. The normal Friday rate (which I dropped the Friday to get my bid) is $154.95. -- Dan btw thereuare, love your avatar, I'm a UM grad myself. :)
