  1. I Tried several prices for a 4* hotel in USE, USW-Nob Hill, SOMA & Financial districts for 4/24/10 and was successful at $74 Initial prices: $62 $67 $72 $74 - Winning Bid - My goal was to try and keep the hotel price to under $100 (all in) and was about to start reducing my star level when I was able to get the winning bid. From my experience I have not liked the 3* hotels in SF, but have really liked the 4* & 3.5* hotels. The 3* hotels were pretty warn down, the beds were not comfortable and in a location I didn't feel safe in. To be honest I have only stayed in three 3* hotels so my sample is small, but I have always been happy with the 4* hotels, from Parc 55 to the Hyatt's to the Westin's. The only 3.5* hotel I've had a problem at was the Hilton Financial District and that was purely with the check-in staff trying to pressure me on a $40 room upgrade. FYI, The Hilton Union Square is a nice hotel.
  2. I'm going to SF for the Union Street Fair and saw the great deal ld2341 got for Union Square East (USE), so I put in my first bid of just USE at $63 and it was accepted at the Grand Hyatt Union Square. I've stayed here many times and it is a great hotel, Thanks again to this website for helping me save some much needed $$$ :)
  3. The Hotel Palomar is a very nice hotel! I have stayed there several times. Definately a botique hotel, but the staff are really nice. Be sure stop by for the managers wine and beer reception in the early evening. It is a great way to kick off the night or relax after a day of sightseeing. The hotel is only a block or so from Union Square. Have a great time in SF!

  5. Congrats on the winning bid! I stayed there just before Christmas and purchased through a winning bid on Priceline. One word of caution though, when I checked in the person at the desk told me that the room I asked for was not available and they only had Smoking rooms... but they could "Upgrade me to a Non-Smoking" on the top floor for $50/night. After going round and round with them I did finally upgrade as my GF is allergic to smoke. I looked around the hotel and it didn't seem busy at all, so I don't know if it is a scam or not. Just look out and have a great time in SF!
