  1. I posted a reply to previous post (we ended up only going for the day and therefore not using a hotel). Your assistance is appreciated. Thanks.
  2. I appreciate your assistance. We ended up going to Chicago only for the day so we didn't end up needing a hotel.
  3. 3* Crystal City - Reagan National Airport DCA area hotel Free Breakfast Fitness Center Pool Business Center High Speed Internet I'm looking at 6/17 - one night - 2 rooms And using the HOTWIRE link from this sight. Thanks!
  4. Hi. I am looking at a 2.5 star hotel in Schaumburg for 1/13-1/14/07 for $53.00. The amenities are breakfast, pool and internet. This is a special treat for me and my two sons (6 & 9). So we don't need a fancy place. I really want a place with an indoor pool so I'm not sure I'll be able to identify well enough to use hotwire. But the price sure makes me want to try. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  5. I forgot to post this before and figure better late than never.... Bid for 2 rooms at $28 each for a total $56. (With 7 ladies for a shopping trip this was $10 a piece) We were thrilled. Got there and had perfect check-in, while another lady had wrong dates on her reservation and they didn't have a single room for her so they were calling other hotels to see if they had room. Also no problem getting rooms with 2 queen beds.
  6. Yes, the 2* is ok for this trip. It's the only type hotel close to the shopping and we won't be there much at all. We'll be busy shopping til we drop. :) So any advice you can provide is appreciated.
  7. I am looking at the Gurnee, IL area for one night Nov. 5/6 and will need 2 rooms. Any particular advice or bidding strategy is appreciated. Any idea of what hotels might come up? Thanks
  8. Yeah!!!! I got the Hyatt at FW for 9-19 - 9-25 for $70. I was prepared to keep going with the strategy you provided me with and I had to do a double take at the screen. What a relief to have the lodging taken care of. Thank you all for all your help! This board has been an invaluable resource.
  9. How do you target a hotel using priceline? You said you target the Embassy Suites in s sf? So it's pretty easy to get to dt from that area? that may be something to consider then. Thanks
  10. Thanks for that info...what price would I expect to pay on priceline for cathedral hill? Can you still get around without a car easily? We are planning on doing some sightseeing around N. Cal (redwoods, etc) and I was thinking of renting a car for 1-2 days. The original plan was to stay outside of the city and rent a car the whole time but the more I looked into it it seemed better to pay a little more, stay in the city and forgo the rental car expense.
  11. This is what I've tried and not gotten... 9-18 - 9-25 4* USE, USW, and all rebid areas up to $80 9-19 - 9-25 4* USE and all rebid areas up to $75 9-18 - 9-25 3* USE, FW and rebid up to $65 - $70 can't remember exactly :) 9-19 - 9-25 3* USE, FW and rebid areas up to $68 (I think) Is this a busy week? Am I just bidding too low, and if so what is a reasonable amount to expect? What about the SF south airport area? Is that a decent area to vacation? and if so what is a reasonable amount to expect to get there? We are not used to traveling high end so I don't have to have top of the line but don't want to get stuck with a yucky place either. I was originally looking at Homewood Suites S airport as a possibility - keeping with my under $100 - that was rack rate. I'm starting to get worried and am wanting to have the lodging part of the trip taken care of. Any suggestions are appreciated - and any options other than priceline are appreciated as well if the priceline option doesn't end up working. Thanks for all the help this board has provided me. I have learned TONS in the last few days.
  12. Can someone help me on this? I just read your posts and would like to understand. I have been trying to book on priceline and not having any success. We are looking for 9-18 to 9-25. I am not real stuck on any particular location, just want to make sure we are in a nice area that we can get around easily. I would like to stay under $100 a night. What you are talking about sounds great. Can you give me any feedback and how this entertainment thing works?
  13. Oh yeah, I was going to bid starting at $60, then $65. Any other ideas?
  14. I was just bidding and after not getting anything at USE 4* I went to try FW 3*. I started to enter in my bid - put a 6 in - a message appeared "based on recent data you have almost no chance of winning" or somthing to that affect. So I erased the 6 and put a 7 and got the same message. Took out the 7 and put an 8 and it appeared. What is that about? Is it thinking I was just going to bid $6 and not add anything else or is it something else going on? I hadn't gotten anything like that before when I was not getting a successful bid.
  15. Well I tried and failed with the 4* USE starting at $55 going up to $75. Not surprising. Now to decide if I want to try again at 4* taking out the Saturday or try with the Saturday at the 3* level. This was my first attempt and boy this could get addicting.
  16. Thanks so much for the input. Having never been to SF (or California) it is hard to know where to stay.
  17. If I can't get a 4* in USE would you suggest the 3* in USE or FW as the better option?
  18. I am looking for help with a strategy for 9-18-04 to 9-25-04. Preferably USE or Fisherman's Wharf (this is our first trip to SF would anyone suggest a different location as better?). 3 or 4*. I would like to keep the total cost per night under $90. Would we be better off breaking the bid into 2 or will we be successful for a full week? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
