  3. Bid 3* (Glendale, Burbank, Universal City) Sunday June 20, 2010 one night $68 first bid and got a 4* property. I bid through the PRICELINE link.

Bid 3* hoping to get a property that didn't charge parking but got the Hilton. Great property at the price! With parking still lower than any 2 1/2* I could find in the area. HOTWIRE was showing $107 for 4* in this area. Very pleased with the price.

Wish PRICELINE and HOTWIRE would combine Universal City, Studio City and North Hollywood so bidding was closer to Universal Studios but I guess that might isolate the 4* property a bit too narrowly for the hotel vendors liking.

Thanks for this board. I use it frequently!

  4. I am not new to Priceline I always check before I buy, I bid Priceline for Rio Grande, PR, 01/30/2009 one night $152.00, my bid was declined. I was offered to rebid, by changing dates, lodging type, or area. So I changed dates to 02/08/2009, one night, left resort, and selected San Juan, PR, at $145. night. My bid was accepted, however, it was for Rio Grande, PR, not San Juan. I don't know if my computer did not respond when I selected San Juan, or what may have happened.

Is there anything I can do? I still need one night 01/30/2009, in Rio Grand, and one in san Juan 02/08/2009.

    Thanxs for any info...

It sounds to me that like in any rebid, pricline keeps the selections you have made in previous bids and adds the new information to the new bid, ie...you had previously bid in the Rio Grande, PR zone, you added the San Juan, PR zone and changed the date. It maintained both zones in the new bid (your bidding both zones). You could have just made the San Juan bid as a new bid, no free rebid required. I have also learned that I never add an additional zone of the same hotel * level, or above, to a bid sequence. If you do you may over pay for a hotel in the new zone...(you have not bid through the price levels in that added zone). When rebidding in a sequence I will only add zones with lesser * levels than I'm bidding and then you are sure to not get hotels in any of those other zones.

    Hope this was helpful.

  5. Bidding through your PRICELINE link above I got the Intercontinental Resort & Casino San Juan for $108 per room per night and got four rooms on Friday April 3rd for two nights. I had bid about a week and a half ago and got nothing. I have been watching Hotwire and today saw that a 4* came up at $119. Based on the amenities listed and the hotel list here I thought it was the Intercontinental. I went to Priceline and started bidding at $90, added zone and rebid at $100, added zone and rebid at $108 and got it. Based on the best conventional rates I could find in San Juan on that Friday Saturday, which are still quite high, I am very plesed with the hotel and price.

    Thanks for the board!
