  1. Winning bid was $55 plus $15 fee for total of $70... I use this site and priceline everywhere I go. I was in a rush to lock up hotel and did not double check the price at the hotel directly before bidding. Online price at hotel website was $66 and some change (including taxes and all fees). I'm not terribly disappointed but I will double check and at least bid lower next time!
  2. won bid for 3* a Courtyard by Marriott downtown at $100/night for two nights. Saved $50/night. Overall happy to have saved but disappointed just a touch cause others are winning 4* for less than that.. But this is my first successful bid and some savings is better than none.
  3. wow. 3.5* at $100.. even when everyone else is getting 4* for $65-75. Once I can bid again (in morn) i'll keep this updated
  4. okay thanks. um I'll try a 3.5* to see if i can nab something in the range.... i'm going to go $70 and see what happens.
  5. disregard that question.. after rethinking that we'd have nowhere to put our bags Sunday if we got a different hotel. the Sun game is at 1:30
  6. i haven't yet. but i am going to hotwire now. Also by "rack rate" do you mean what the hotels are charging by conventional means.. another question... i now seem locked in (for bidding today) on my 3 areas chosen. i may try to bid (if possible) on sat and sun separate. is that possible?
  7. sorry- real late update but we had to sell the tickets for the game and did not complete a transaction. The help here was great and i am working on a different trip now (using this forum as a tool)
  8. Update: bid 1- $63 downtown inner harbor denied bid 2- $68 downtown inner harbor + stadiums denied bid 3- $71 downtown inner harbor + stadiums + mt. vernon denied how much does the fact its a Redsox/Orioles game going on..
  9. check in Sept 19 (sat.) and check out Sept 21st (mon). First bid was 4* only Downtown inner harbor Area. We are going there for a game at Camden Yards.. so i want something within walking distance if possible.. this area fits the bill. I see everyone getting the Hyatt Regency for around $65 a night and on the weekend. So a 4* under $75 a night would be great. In the $60's would be even better. Any help would be appreciated. I'm kinda afraid to bid again by using other areas even though i don't see any 4*'s in one or two other locations.. I'd hate for my bid to be accepted there... yet my lack of patience wants to rebid asap! thanks in advance
  10. how far from Camden Yards is this hotel.. It says on Hotels.com it is .5 miles from the park, but also says its located at the airport. Just wondering
  11. I need suggestions on a cheaper hotel in a fairly convenient stay for a Red Sox game (May 18-21) and for some simple sight seeing and good night life. I'm sure there are many.. My goal is to be in a $60-90 a night stay in a decent hotel. By decent I mean clean and not of the "shady" manner. It doesnt ness have to be 3 or 4* but I'll have my wife with me.. I originally picked Copley Square as my primary choice because I thought I could snag a low fair but apparently that was because people were winning bids in winter months and i didn't realize that was why. Sooo if anybody has any feedback on clean, low priced hotel in a convenient area for a Sox game, let me know! Sorry for being long winded in response. Thanks for the feed back
  12. Alright, not to further complicate things but I am going to start another thread I think and ask for suggestions on a cheaper hotel in a fairly convenient stay for a Red Sox game (May 18-21) and for some simple sight seeing and good night life. 13. Okay thats reasonable.. but here is another thing. I stayed in 07 at holiday inn at Quinceys Market area for 150 a night via booking from the front desk. Sept 07 sox/yankees final season series. I guess thats a lower star rating but i cant find it.. should i consider booking a lower star rating and dive on cheaper hotel.. i just don't want to stay in a bad area because i'll have my wife with me. i dont know boston well enough to gamble on lower star hotel.. theres not much info on 2*'s ... or not that i've found.. thanks for the help btw
  14. Well my max budget for the hotel is (hopefully) under $300. I may cut the first night off and make it a two day trip or suck it up and pay it. I guess i saw so many $60-70 winning bids in those two areas I figured it was a sure fire win for me. I will up my bid tomorrow as I cannot bid anymore today
  15. Bidding priceline for the first time.. Going to Red Sox Game in Boston and need 1 room for 5-19-09 thru 5-21-09. First Choice Copley Square and second option would be Quincey's Market. I'm utilizing the rebid format discussed on here. I am trying to get Park Plaza or Hilton Back Bay for $58-$70 with 3.5* rating. first bid $58 copley square 3.5*- denied sec bid $60 copley square and brighton - denied third bid $62 copley/brighton/south boston- denied four bid $63 copley/brighton/south bos/medford- denied Copley is 3.5*--4* all other add on areas are below my star rating... I guess now I have to wait 24 hours to rebid as i have no other options that i can change. My question... Does the Red Sox games play a factor into my bidding? I've seen numerous bids won at $58-65 a night in this area...is that probable for this may? I will try Quincey's Market bids after I know Copley Square options are not possible. Any other info or tips would be appreciated as I am a newbie to this.. I have been reading thru this forum for over a week before bidding though.. very helpful (hopefully)
