  1. Yes, I meant the San Diego Coastal Region, not just La Jolla. I would be willing to spend up to about $90 a night. I would take any of the 4 stars in that region, but want to avoid the islandia if possible. How would you bid? thanks
  2. Unfortunately, I have still been unable to get a successful bid. I went up to $61. I am thinking now of bidding exclusively in La Jolla for a four star hotel, since it would be almost as much. I would very much like to get the La Jolla Torrey Pines Hilton, I saw someone got it for $87. Any way to avoid getting the Islandia-- I've heard it's not really worth the money? How do you think I should bid? Thanks
  3. I have had no luck so far, despite 3 bids. The latest: $32, $35, $39 -- all rejected.... is there somethig big going on in SD that weekend?
  4. sorry for that! I would have booked through EasyClickTravel had I known the refund policy. I do appreciate all of your help and will definitly support the website on my upcoming bids. This website is a great resource.
  5. thanks for your help. could you suggest another bidding strategy? Or do you think I should just use the same one in 72 hours? thanks
  6. Hi, I tried bidding but was unable to get a room. I bid for a 3* room in Del Mar for 10/21/05-10/23/05 $28, rejected added Coronado $30, rejected added Coastal Region, $32, rejected added Escondido, $34, rejected I closed my browser after this because I figured out that priceline does offer a 3* in Escondido and I definitely did not want to stay that far away. It's been about a year since I posted for my last trip (to SF) and I think I might be doing the strategy incorrectly. I couldn't find the post on how to bid. (maybe I'm just too tired!!) Could you clarify which regions I should use as free rebids? Thanks so much for your help!!
  7. Hi, thanks for your advice! I decided against trying to get the Venetian since I need to guarantee that there will be two double beds in each room (we will have four people in there). Instead, I decided to book a room at the Monte Carlo for $189 a night. I ended up calling the actual hotel, since it was the same price as offered through EasyClickTravel and would allow me to cancel a few days in advance, if some people back out.
  8. Thanks for your help! I will give it a try and let you know how it goes. Also, I'm going to post a reply for my Las Vegas stay.
  9. Hi, I'm going to be in town for a wedding on the weekend of Oct. 21-23 and would like to bid on a hotel in Del Mar or further south in San Diego. I'd like to get a 3 star or better for the best rate possible. I noticed some people have had luck with the Del Mar Hilton and Del Mar Doubletree for $30-60 a night. Do you think this is possible? Could you suggest a strategy? Thanks
  10. I would like to spend $200-225/night, each, for two rooms on the nights of 9/9 and 9/10 at the Venitian. And I need both rooms to have two double beds. Any ideas as to strategy?
  11. Hi, I just returned from my trip. We had a fabulous time! The hotel was elegant, and the rooms were comfortable. The location is great-- right in Union Square. I posted more of a review of this hotel on tripadvisor.com if you'd like to read more. Thanks for your help!
  12. My winning bid was $62 for Sunday Aug. 15 I bid: $50 USE then: $55 plus Cathedral Hill then: $60 plus Civic Center Finally $62, Fisherman's Wharf, ACCEPTED. With tax, the price is $76.61 I am excited to check out this hotel. I will post reviews of this and Villa Florence after my stay next week!
  13. After bidding for about a week, I was finally successful at $64 a night at Villa Florence. Originally I tried only for 4 star hotels in the USE and USW areas. I bid up to $70 and didn't get any hits. Not wanting to spend anymore money, I tried rebidding for boutiques in the Embarcadero area. I purposely didn't bid for boutiques in the USW area because I read a few negative reviews on that PL hotel. My successful run at PL went like this: 4 * hotel, $55 USE- rejected 4 * hotel and boutique: $60 USE and Cathedral Hill (ReBid area) --rejected 4* hotel and boutique: $61 USE, Cathedral Hill, Civic Center (ReBid area)-- rejected 4* hotel and boutique: $64 USE, Cathedral Hill, Civic Center, Fisherman's Wharf-- ACCEPTED Hotel: Villa Florence, USE area With tax, I'll pay $152 for two nights (Aug. 16-18). The hotel's Web site lists it at $138 a night plus tax. I figure it's a deal since I'm a wino and I hear there is a complimentary wine hour each day!! woohoo!!
  14. I forgot to add that I tried changing the dates a few times when I bid last night. I made eight bids in total by adding zones that didn't list 4 star hotels. I started out at $48 and bid till $60.
  15. Thanks for your replies! I'd like to bid no more than $65 to stay in a 3 or 4 star hotel in USE, USW or FW. We'd prefer to stay Sat.-Sun, Sun-Mon, or Mon.-Tues during that week in August (14-17) but anytime up till the 20th would be fine. Are certain days less expensive than others? Thanks for your help! This site is awesome!
  16. Hi, I'm new to this forum and wondering if I could get some advice for bidding in San Francisco. I will be taking a vacation there for two nights sometime during the week of Aug. 14-20. I wanted to stay in the Embarcadero area because I heard that it is central for doing touristy stuff. I tried bidding on priceline last night but unfortunately, could not get a 4 star in Embarcadeo for $60. (I noticed that other people got that bid so I was hoping for that). My travel dates are flexible--I just want to get the best deal for the price, since we don't often get a chance to take a mini vacation. Do many people stay in SFO and commute downtown on vacation? It seems like a long drive.... Thanks for any advice or bidding suggestions!
  17. Hi, Thanks for posting. I am trying to book something in the Embarcadero area in two weeks. Do you remember what bids you made? What was the winning amount? And, how's the hotel? Thanks for your reply.
