  1. I am trying to identify a 3* listing for $53 for Feb 25-28. It is listed in the Chicago Magnificant Mile-Streeterville area. The listing shows the following amenities:

    Smoke Free

    Fitness Center

    Pool

    Restaurant

    Business Center

    Laundry

    Hi-Speed Internet

That's way too many amenities for any 3* I have looked up. I have searched the last few pages--back to october of 09 and cannot find anything comparable. Any help??

  2. I have a long history staying at Cleveland Airport area hotels. I love the Candlewood Suites (when my wife is with me) and like the Ramada Inn when she isn't (at under $40 per night!). I have also stayed at La Quinta and that's OK, too. But in my latest search I see a listing for a 3.5* for only $45 per night. The area is identified as Cleveland Airport and the amenities are as follows:

    --Shuttle

    --Fitness Center

    --Pool

    --Restaurant

    --Biz Center

    --Internet Access

It's also identified as a "Best Value"

I was temepted to think it's the Marriott, but that one has (or had) a "Laundry" icon also last time I confirmed it.

Anybody know which this one is?

  3. Please doublecheck that you've included all the amenities associated with this property...

If you go back to HOTWIRE and click the CONTINUE button next to this offering and then click the "See all amenities" link under the icons, do you see more amenities than what you've listed above?

Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.

Please add "Air Conditioning" to the list. That's it for amenities.

  4. I just reserved a 3* at LAX for the single night of 8-9-09 for $49.00. I had checked in this forum first (as I always do) and found it identified as the Radisson at LAX. After booking, that was confirmed. :) Nice work everybody!!!

    Here are the amenities listed:

    Airport Shuttle

    Fitness Center

    Pool

    Restaurant

    Business center

    Laundry

    High speed internet

    Spa services

I booked through the HOTWIRE link on this website. :)

BTW--this same hotel during the week is listed at $59.00

  5. Just booked with the following amenities:

    Airport Shuttle

    Breakfast

    Pool

    Internet

    Golf Nearby

This is the Comfort Inn Airport on Yale Blvd.

Generally a Comfort Inn isn't too bad and Trip Advisor rates this one so-so. It's only overnight and for $39 how bad can it be? I can use the shuttle to the airport and don't need a car or breakfast.

I booked this through the Hotwire Forum.

  6. :) I always try to get Candlewood Suites on the west side of Cleveland (North Olmsted) becuase it is my personal favorite spot to stay when I go to Cleveland each month. I love the people and the rooms and it is close to everything I need on my business trips--including my clients.

Anyway, since the word has gotten out on how great this place is (yeah, I read Tripadvisor--there's just no pleasing some people) I never see it on HOTWIRE anymore. So I was really surprised tonight when I did my usual search and there it was!

2.5* with 4 amenities only--Fitness, Laundry, Internet and Kitchenette. $56.00 for July 22 thru 25.

I jumped on it immediately and made the reservation through the Forum HOTWIRE link (of course.)

This is set up for long term stays, but I just like having a full suite--including kitchen and full refrigerator when I'm in town for 3-4 nights. Free high speed internet makes it a great business decision also.

  7. Just booked at HOTWIRE on May 27, 2009

2* Lancaster area -- No Amenities Listed but checked off for Lowest Price Guarantee and Best Value.

Paid $49.00 but regular rate on Travelocity etc. for same dates is $58, so savings was only $9. Hardly worth going through Hotwire and taking the chance on getting a dump.

On the other hand, looking this up after booking and reading Trip Advisor, it doesn't sound too bad. We are only there one night and it's in the Amish area where we want to be. Although not listed on Hotwire, the description says the hotel also has a free continental breakfast and--FREE WiFi!!! Cool.

It sounds like it will work for me just fine.

  8. Just booked Cleveland Airport Ramada on HOTWIRE --2*-- for June 3 to June 7 for ONLY $35.00

Amenities:Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool, Business Center, Laundry, Hi-Speed Internet.

I had reported that I booked this for $38.00 in March and was a bit wary, but took heart in that the recent reviews had been good. Then my wife decided to accompany me. This woman bitches about Marriott's so I thought she would definitely hate this. But --surprise--she said if was "fine". For her, that's high praise. I thought is was great for the price--even had small fridge and microwave, good breakfast with fresh waffles, free internet, and the people are really nice. Didn't get to try the bar (Froggy's) but definitely will this time.

Anyway, when I saw the descriptiuon and price on Hotwire, I had to grab this. The renovations are going fine and it's a great place for a few nights on the road. I wouldn't recommend for kids, annual vacations, spring break, honeymoons, etc. but for good functional road warrior lodging you can't beat it for the price.

Hey I travel on business over 50,000 miles a year in the US and stay in ALL levels of hotels. This one suits my needs just fine in Cleveland airport area.

  9. :) Here's and update on this Ramada Inn:

I was a little wary of this one, but based upon recent reviews decided to take a chance since the price was right. At the last minute my wife decided to accompany me on this business trip. I was really nervous since she is hypercritical of hotels, cleanliness, etc.

And--guess what Mikey--she liked it! This place has been about 80% refurbished and they are doing a nice job. There is still some exterior painting to be done--especially the room doors--but that can't be done during the winter. The room we had was completely redone-new large ceramic tile floor in the bath, complete new shower enclosure, granite counter. All very nice and well done. The furniture was fine, including a work desk. The bed was very comfortable with new linens that were crisp and clean each day. The continental breakfast included waffles, cereals bagels, muffins, etc. The free internet/wireless worked fine. The location was great for us--near the airport (free shuttle) and I-480, with a mall and lots and lots of shopping and restaurants nearby.

The only drawback was that there is no elevator. So if you are on the second floor, you have to climb the stairs. Also, the room doors open to the outside, but the corridor is enclosed partially. But all things considered, this was well worth the money! I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again for the Hotwire price.

  10. Would you consider adding a link to Hotels.com though the forum? I am in a situation where I have four nights at one of their hotels and have to add a 5th at an extremely good rate they offer. I can't gamble and risk having to move. I have to go to their website direct and cannot find a way to connect through the forum so you get credit. Is that possible? I will wait until later today to receive your answer, then I must book it.

  11. I just found out --from this board--thank you very much--that I can go into "My Account" and check my past stays. There is a details link next to the hotel name that gives you the amenities shown prior to your purchase. This is great to be able to go back and see what the amenities were if you didn't write them down first.

Here's the problem I am encountering. After I click the details link and the box opens, it stays a fixed size. Unlike most boxes that you can enlarge by dragging an edge or extending the lower right corner, this doesn't enlarge. As a result, if there are more than 4 amenities the rest are cut off. It also won't allow scrolling. have tried everything I know to enlarge the box or move the type insde it and nothing works. If anyone else has experienced this and figured out how to enlarge the box or scroll down the typed list, please let me know.

This is a valuable tool, but it's effectiveness is limited by this problem.

  12. I just made two big mistakes with this one.

    1) I didn't go through this forum (I'm still learning, bear with me.)

    2) I got so excited about the low price I threw caution to the wind.

    Amenities:

    Airport Shuttle

    Continental breakfast

    Pool

    Business Center

    Laundry

    High Speed Internet

All this for $29.00 per night for February 11 through 14. I checked several I thought it might be and settled on either the Comfort Inn or the Ramada. I did the deal and it came up.....

Days Inn! Ugh. :) Probably the lowest, vilest hotel in the Cleveland Airport area. Drunks and druggies demand their money back here! This is the absolute pits. You can check the reviews on Trip Advisor. I stayed there once many years ago and I still want to take a shower each time I think of it. :)

Worst of all, my wife will be with me (sigh). So--for the second time-- I will actually throw away my reservation and chalk the expense up to gambling and losing. Butplease PLEASE get this posted on the board to help others keep from making the same mistake.

  13. Just booked Cleveland Hopkins Airport HOTWIRE 2* for March 11 to March 14 for ONLY $38.00

Amenities:Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool, Business Center, Laundry, Hi-Speed Internet.

I was hoping for the Comfort Inn in Middleburg Heights which has great reviews, but instead got the Ramada Inn on Brookpark Road. It says it has been remodeled and the most recent reviews are good, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. Biggest plus is it still has a fridge and microwave along with free wireless internet in rooms.

    Has anyone stayed there recently?

Also--has anyone had a win with the Comfort Inn Airport in Middleburg Heights? It should be a 2* or 2.5*?

  14. In mid-December I booked a 4* in New Orleans with the following amenities listed:

    Exercise Room

    Pool

    Restaurant

    Business Center

    Internet

    Cost was $79.00 per night.

It is the Intercontinental Hotel at 444 St. Charles. A good location for walking anywhere in the area. Just a few blocks to the French Quarter yet far enough away to get out of the craziness when you so desire. No view to speak of, we stared at the side of a building. Rooms are spacious and nice--in fact ours looked exactly like the standard room pictured on their website.

All employees were extremely gracious and cheerful.
