I am sorry for being tardy in replying, was very busy before the New Year holiday and then was only vacation visiting families, where I do not have constant internet access. I ended booking into the Hilton Dubai Creek - a travel agent here in the city has a deal for USD 70 per night (tax included). I think this is "safer" option than the hotwire ones, at least . Hotels rating in Dubai are not very trustworthy. I had been to 5* hotels that looks more like a 3* in North America and 4* hotels that are mere Comfort Inn type in US. Thank you for your reply. I will check out your suggestion. In the worse case, will go to Chinatown, something must be available down there, ju st that I am not comfortable in that area after dark. I thought that hotel would be Intercontinental and surprised that you suggested it is Sofitel, thus, decided to give it a try. Now, if anyone knows the hotel is under renovation? (Several time I got some super cheap deal and that turned out to be the case.)

One question, does anyone know if there are any food outlets close by will be open on Christmas day?
