  1. I spoke with my Dad tonight and he said it was a nice stay at the Best Western. There is continental breakfast included as well. The hotel sign is visible from the highway, but difficult to see from the road. It is hidden behind a closed down Shoney's. Overall, no complaints about the hotel. Also wanted to add, my first bid was $55. Bid was rejected, but it said that I could try to bid $70 and try again without any zone/star changed. The second, $70 bid, was accepted.
  2. I booked a room yesterday evening for my Dad who was passing through Baton Rouge. I got the room for $70.00. The price was decent considering there was a football game that weekend and many of the hotels were sold out he said. Started and purchased through better bidding website. Thank you!
  3. Yes, I'm sorry...I thought I put the name. It is the The Westin Diplomat Resort And Spa.
  4. I went with the Hollywood Beach 4* and got the room for $86.00. Amenities were: Resort Near Beach Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Bought using the HOTWIRE link on betterbidding. Thanks, as always, for your help!
  5. 1. Hollywood Beach Resort Near Beach Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby 2. Ft Laud Beach Suite Near Beach Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Kitchenette
  6. I am looking at two 4* hotels. One is "Hollywood Beach area hotel" for $82. I am thinking this one is the Diplomat. The other is "Fort Lauderdale Beach area hotel" for $92. This one has "suite" as an amenity. Possibly the Il Lugano? Both have a 95% rating. Any ideas as to what these hotels are? thanks!
  7. I had a very nice stay at the Marriott. We checked in about 11pm. There were no rooms available with two double beds because the hotel had a full house that night. There was a huge Camaro car show set-up in the parking lot and the participants were staying there too. We were offered a roll-away and was told I could switch rooms the following night. We opted to stay both nights in the King bed room because it was quiet and comfortable. The room was worth every bit of the $47 room rate and the on-site car show was a bonus. Thanks again Better Bidding!
  8. Thanks, I am happy with the win! I was secretly hoping to get the Hyatt in Marietta as it
  9. Just booked Marriott Atlanta Northwest for $47 on Memorial Day Weekend. Amenities: Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, and Internet
  10. Would you walk State St or Michigan Ave from the Courtyard to the Hyatt? After checking out of the Courtyard, I'm thinking of checking my bags until check-in time at the Hyatt and then going across the street and doing the architecture cruise. I'm trying to figure out how much time I will need to make the boat since I need to book my tix in advance. Also, what is the subway station nearby? I'm trying to decide if I will take a cab into the city or take the blue line to Clark/Lake and then take a cab to the hotel. Thanks!
  11. Very nice, thank you! Visiting Chicago for the first time, I am anxious to try all the food Chicago is known for. Your suggestions are a great help!
  12. Hotel room booked! I split the stay between the 2 hotels. On Sat. 10/9 I booked the Courtyard River North for $199 using the GTA Hotels link. This was a first for me using this site. I also did a search on tripadvisor for the Courtyard and all the pop-up links for Expedia, etc. had the Courtyard sold out that night. For Sun. & Mon. 10/10-10/11 I booked the Hyatt for $109 a night (4* in the Mag Mile/Streeterville area w/fitness, business, internet, restaurant, spa and bed choice) using the HOTWIRE link. I chose to book the Courtyard on GTA Hotels vs. bidding for a room on PRICELINE because I knew it was only 1/2 mile from the Hyatt. It will be easier to switch hotels since they are in such close proximity. Thanks again! Now it's time to start planning what to see while there...
  13. I hadn't really considered switching hotels an option because of the hassle, but by saving that much I will go that route! I was just looking at the $109 for Sun & Mon on Hotwire and I like the Hyatt. I searched for Sat night and the only options that popped up on Hotwire on Sat night in Mag Mile & NMA are $246 & $302. Do you think I'd have better luck on Priceline for Saturday? Thanks :)
  14. No win yet. I started at $125 and re-bid up to $150. I used the zones: Millennium Park, NMA, Franklin, Hyde Park, Lincoln Park, Midway Airport, & Skokie. I'm wondering how much higher I should bid or should I lower my star levels next? Or would waiting closer to the date get me a better price? Priceline says the median retail price for a 4 star hotel is $167. I don't know if this is taking into account that this is a busy marathon weekend.
  15. I tried options #1 & 2 with no wins...will try for a win with #3 tomorrow night.
  16. Is it always better to start off low and add several re-bidding zones vs. starting off higher and only use a couple of the re-bidding zones? Sometimes I get nervous that new property will be added to a zone I don't want. Yesterday I unsuccessfully bid ranging from $138-$145 with Loop & NMA selected with 4*, 3.5*, and 3* selected.
  17. Yes, I've only tried 4* and rebid in the areas that didn't have 4* hoping to have extra chances in the Loop. Yes, NMA is acceptable. I will try that area too! :) I'm hoping not to pay more than about $150 a night. If it isn't realistic I will go to a lower star level or increase my budget a little.
  18. I will be visiting Chicago from 10/9-10/12 and just found out the marathon is going on that weekend...but I am still hoping to find a deal on a hotel. I've tried bidding for a 4* star hotel. Bids ranging from $110-$135. Starting at the Loop, then adding zones Franklin, Hyde Park, Lincoln Park, Midway, Skokley. Any ideas of what is a good rate for a 3-4* hotel during that time? thanks!
  19. Booked hotel on 5-21-09 for the same night 5-21, checked out 5-22. The room was for my father. He said it was a great place to stay, conveniently located right off the interstate and very quiet.
  20. Listed on hotwire as a 2* in Jackson - Ridgeland for $38. After taxes and fess $47.19. The front desk clerk printed out the wrong receipt, it showed $100 for the room. Over 50% savings. Amenities listed: Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Booked using HOTWIRE link on betterbidding. Thanks!!
  21. I copied and pasted the amenities from the confirmation webpage, I may have accidentally deleted the pool. I just looked on hotwire again, and what looks like the same deal does have a pool icon.
  22. This site is the Best!! I just booked the Wynn 2-17 to 2-20 for $109 a night using HOTWIRE. Listed as a 5-star hotel in Central Strip. Amenities include: Casino Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center Golf Nearby Tennis Spa Services Thanks for all of your helpful advice!
