  1. I'm looking for a good 4* or 5* in London for 6/9-6/17, for under $290 per night. The express deals has a 5* in Westminster - if it were the IC, I'd do it in a second, but I'm assuming it's the Marriott (which I'd prefer to stay away from)? The Doubletree at Victoria is close to where I need to be, but I don't love the reviews. PL also has a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal in Finsbury for a 5* for $283, which I'm assuming is the Town Hall Hotel, as it's the only 5* in the area. Any thoughts?
  2. Started the bidding at $45 (thinking maybe I'd get the Hyatt), then went to $52, $59, $62, $69, then was finally accepted at the Palomar for $74! (The lowest rate on their site was $125). I've never stayed here, but I love Kimptons, so I'm excited. As always, thx for the board and all the help!
  3. As requested, I added a second thread for these dates...used the PRICELINE links. Thx!
  4. 3.5* Trenton-Princeton (Princeton West) Hyatt Regency, $41...5/16/10-5/17/10 and $41...5/20/10-5/21/10 Just wanted to let you know I got the Hyatt (my favorite in Princeton) for 2 different nights...accepted $41 on my first try...used the forum's links to PRICELINE! Also, it looks like they separated the Princeton West zone from the Trenton zone! (i wonder if they were getting complaints...)
  5. ah, good to know...hmm, so maybe I'll take my chances and see what comes up.
  6. yeah, based on the retail side...is that not a good assumption to make? someone on the board got them while bidding in vegas not too long ago...
  7. I have a reservation with Alamo for PBI 5/17-5/20, but I was thinking about bidding for a cheaper price. The problem is Advantage is now in the mix, and I wonder if they're coming up in name your own price (they're currently the cheapest price on the regular part of the site). I don't know much about them, except that they're now owned by Hertz. I wonder how good the vehicles are at this point, and whether they might come up if I bid. Any thoughts?
  8. First bid $40 at 3.5* in Princeton West. That didn't work, so I bid $40 again adding 3*. Still no go, so I added Princeton East. Again, wouldn't take it, so I added Cookstown, raised the bid to $45, and I got the Wyndham. I stayed there once - it's not bad. I'm pretty sure they give you a free bottle of water :).
  9. Well, it looks like it went up to $59. I ended up getting the Wyndham via PRICELINE for $45. Not bad - I like the Hyatt better, but the Wyndham's decent.
  10. For 3/22-3/23, I'm getting a 3.5* at 54/night, with Fitness, Restaurant, Business, and Hi-Speed. I'd guess that it's probably the Courtyard...maybe the Doubletree?
  11. Whohoo! :) I saw folks were getting the Hyatt again at $40, so I took my chances - got it for 2 nights @ $40 on my first try at 3.5*....very happy. It's a great hotel, and I'm going for a wedding (saving $60 over the wedding rate :) Used the PRICELINE links....
  12. As always, this board is my favorite (and I used the PRICELINE link). Looks like the Hyatt Dulles (not regency) is now 4*, but I'm happy, as they just renovated the place with all suites. First bid in the Dulles North zone was $45, came to $62 and change with taxes and trip insurance.
  13. I started at $45 in Princeton East, went to $55. It came to about $70 with taxes and fees. I used the PRICELINE links. This will actually be $95, b/c I have to pay the cancellation fee from my previous request (Marriott Trenton), but at least I'll be in Princeton.
  14. I told them I didn't like the area - haven't been able to resubmit, as I made an offer this afternoon, and I have to wait now. But you're right, if you can't get another room, than you're out the money.
  15. I did get the refund, but I haven't been able to get a good rate on princeton east - I tried $38 and then $41. I'll keep trying, I just didn't want to go too much over what I originally spent. Let me know if you get anything good in the east.
  16. Wow, you got the Marriott for $45? I actually just called and they let me cancel - if I rebook, I can get the cancellation fee waived, minus $25. I thought I would try again for $41, and I also tried for $38 at 3 star, but no dice. I may try Princeton East.
  17. I bid $80, and got the Renaissance Harborplace on the first try. It came to about $103 with taxes, fees, and trip insurance. I used the PRICELINE links.
  18. So I usually get the Hyatt in Princeton for $41. When I bid, it said it couldn't fulfill the request, but if I increased my bid by $12 it would be accepted. So I bid $53, and got the Marriott in Trenton. I can't say I'm super psyched - I like the Hyatt, and I probably would've even preferred the Hyatt Place in Princeton, but so it goes. The hotel seems to have gotten decent review on Trip Advisor. I used the PRICELINE links.
  19. OK, so I got the 3.5 Hyatt Regency for $41 plus taxes and fees, for a total of $54.40. I bid just once, putting in $41 for a 3* in Trenton-Princeton West. I was actually hoping to get the Hyatt Place (free wi-fi), but I assume that wasn't available, which is why they bumped me up?
  20. Backupbooking.com is great, btw! So, if I had my pick, I guess I'd like either the Hyatt or Hyatt Place, both of which seem to be in the Princeton West area, or the Hampton Inn, which is the only 2 1/2 star in the Princeton East. Though, if they bumped me to a 3, I could get the courtyard or holiday inn, which aren't as nice.
  21. All set - updated all threads. For Princeton, I'm actually thinking about tomorrow night, 8/1, for one night. The last time I booked Princeton on Priceline (through this forum), it was just one area, and I was able to get a great deal on the Hyatt Place.
  22. I couldn't get a room that was close enough on either site, so I ended up getting a room at the Hampton Inn in Titusville at the last minute - pretty nice place, and great service, if it ever comes up on either HOTWIRE or PRICELINE.
  23. Because I couldn't guarantee the Westin, I ended up going for the W Ft. Lauderdale - I was able to get a discount through a friend. If it ever comes up on either site, go for it - highly recommended and really nice.
  24. Hey, I ended up going with the Marriott, and booking through them - I wanted to see the place, and couldn't get it through HOTWIRE or PRICELINE. It's a nice hotel, and a beautiful campus, but the service and food weren't spectacular.
