  1. Same deal for me, 26 Jun. Got this after bidding $42 for a 3.5 in the same zone.
  2. Rejected first bid at $38, rebid at $43. Taxes/fees are$13.12, for a grand total of $56.12
  3. Accepted after rejection in Forest Park, where I was hoping for the Residence Inn. Could have probably saved $2-3 by starting at a lower bid in this zone. Best price on website, including gov rate was 89.00, so this saves a ton of money, and has free hot breakfast. $35 bid per nite $5 bonus cash per nite courtesy of PRICELINE ------- $40 x 2 nites effective bid $70 $20.44 taxes & fees -------- $90.44 total cost
  4. Stayed here 9-10 Aug 2008. Outstanding location, right off the expressway downtown. Hotel is one block from all of the bars, restaurants, and shops of the Old Market Area, which was quite impressive. Free parking, free internet, buffet price was about the same as the above post, and included eggs to order. I was quite happy with the buffet. Our room had 2 queen beds, and a pull out couch, but we also had a roll-away bed brought to our room (i.e., the room was quite large). Friendly staff, and a clean hotel. I paid $50 (plus about $15 for tax & fees), instead of the $109 they were asking, or the $93 gov't rate. Highly recommended.
  5. Great location, easiest hotel ever to get in and out of. Plenty of bars and restaurants to walk to in Old Market area, or walk 1 or 2 blocks to Qwest Center. Free parking, free internet, but breakfast buffet was about $10. Clean, modern large rooms with high ceilings. Hotel is a converted warehouse.
  6. Was shooting for a 3* with no joy, so lowered expectation to 2.5* and lowered bid as well. Had I seen the post below, I would have bid a little less, but this is still a great deal. Gov rate is $93.
  7. First bid was $35 and was rejected. Added another zone and bid $40 - accepted. 2 nights: Dec 26-28 with $22.01 fees and taxes for a total of $102.01 for the 2 nights.
  8. Got it on the first bid, so maybe start a little bit lower. Taxes and fees make the total $58.13 for one night, 18-19 Dec.
  9. Anyone know what I should expect at this hotel? $40 makes me happy, just curious as to how big the room is, how modern it is, etc.
  10. Hertz. Otherwise lowest available was Enterprise for $18/day. 13 + 13 + taxes and priceline fees of 9.56 + 35.36
  11. The hotel is undergoing remodeling in the south tower. floors 3, 15, 16, 17 are shut down. I stayed on the 9th floor-south tower a couple of days ago. Nothing great about it, yes the carpets are dirty, but we felt comfortable sleeping there. It's worth the PL price you usually see, and the Disney shuttle is convenient and easy. Ultimately its ok, just needs a facelift inside the rooms. We parked on Chapman and a side street just off of that to avoid the $12/day charge. What a rip-off! Street cleaning is every Thursday 5-9am, so that's when to look at the side streets.
  12. Just stayed there last night. What a great hotel! Huge rooms, 2 pools, golf course.... Enjoyed our stay very much.
  13. We just got back. The hotel was great, the location is a great neighborhood with lots of restaurants and shops to walk to, and the T (subway) was very easy to use. Very new, very clean, HS internet, hot tub & pool. Wish I was there for more than 1 night. This was a steal at $56. Strongly recommended.
  14. I ended up with a mid-size Chevy Classic from Avis, and I'm also getting my USAir Dividend miles. A great deal for a $14/day bid.
  15. I have stayed at the Hilton, and agree that you can do better. Since my employer pays for it, I usually stay up the street at the Hampton Inn, because it is newer, cleaner, brighter, has a free hot breakfast, high speed internet for free in all rooms, and excellent cookies when you check in. The Hilton has none of these things, and needs some remodeling. It just seems like an old place. I disagree about being safe downtown, though. St. Pete has a lot of restaurants that are fun to go to (like Pacific Wave) and I always felt safe walking around, no matter what time it was.
  16. Going out west and had planned on moving around a bit. The plan is to hit Disneyland (2 nites at Hyatt), a wedding in Santa Monica (Doubletree) , then friends in San Diego (Doubletree). San Diego was the only tough location to bid. Concur with bbbb, would have preferred the Hyatt, but didn't feel like waiting.
  17. Looks like it's a little ways out from the city (Penasquitos), but good if you're a golfer. 105.60 was a promotional fare. One night, 4 Sept, Labor Day weekend. San Diego must be all booked up with tourists for the long weekend.
  18. Was looking for something near SNA airport to accomodate an early flight, got this on a rebid after dropping from 4* and $50. Lowest advertised rate is for state govt - $84; $99/rate for others. Sept 5th, one night, Labor Day weekend.
  19. Thanks thereuare! Right now I'm also trying to get a room in San Diego, and it's a little tougher. Go Buckeyes!
  20. Avis. Started at $12, then $13, and finally $14 a day $14 x 2days + $19.44 = $47.44 for 21-22 August Various companies offer compact cars on their web sites for $25/day plus the taxes and fees.
  21. This is my first post here. SO, daughter, and I will be there for one day. The cheapest it goes for is the gov't rate of $159 a nite and website rate of $179. AAA 3 diamonds. One block from the 'T', and 4 miles from downtown. Anyone have ideas for sightseeing? Dates in-out: 21-22 August $55 & 3* = no sale $56 & 2.5* = I'm there Maybe could have done better, but found out about betterbidding.com after maoney changed hands. Great site!
