I tried some lower bids by adding regions without 3.5 star or higher places. $50 was the first that was accepted.
Bid $30, no deal
added Thornton, bid $35- no deal
added 170W, bid $40- won
Tried $30, then $35 by adding regions without 3* places. $40 did the trick.
Tried $30, rejected.
Added NE Denver, raised to $35, accepted
BTW, I used HOTWIRE again to add the next night for the same price. The hotel was just fine, nice breakfast. Only complaint is that the A/C was really loud and switched on and off annoyingly.
Congratulations on your success! While this hotel market seems very much like a mixed bag, sounds as if you're happy with the outcome and were successfully able to avoid some of the less desirable hotels in the area.
Thank you for sharing your results with the board and helping us add this property to the Hotwire Hotel List.
Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Bid $30, rejected, added another zone, bid $35, accepted. I've stayed here several times and like it!
Bid $90, rejected, added another zone, bid $95, rejected, added last zone, bid $100- accepted. Looks like there may be a resort fee of $12/day added, but still not a bad price. Some reviews look great, others not so much. We'll see!

I've stayed at this hotel before, I would say that is more a 2* hotel than a 2.5*. Regular price is $89, so not a huge savings. It's always been clean and has been recently renovated, but still there is something a bit depressing about it. But I'm not too disappointed. it will do.
The Reading area is tough on HOTWIRE and PRICELINE because there are a number of not-so-good properties that you don't want to risk getting. On PRICELINE especially, the highest starred hotel in town (3.5*) is the Abraham Lincoln, which gets very mixed reviews. In addition, downtown Reading can be somewhat unsafe and you have to pay for parking there. Consequently, in spite of it's higher star level, The Abe Lincoln's prices are lower than 2.5* hotels, so you're likely to get it.
But I was curious what that 2.5* on HOTWIRE was- now I know. I suspect that the 3* hotel with the "spa" currently there is the Inn at Reading- also mixed reviews.
Started at $90, added rebids at $5 each till success with $105.

Added NE Denver, re-bid at $35- accepted.

Got it last year too: Nov 25-26, 2007 for $43 on hotwire (before I figured out how to use your links and post, sorry). So I was pretty sure which place I was going to get. It's a giant place, conveniently located off the highway with a decent breakfast. Rooms were clean, functional, but not too exciting. But we're just looking for a road stop, not a honeymoon...
Started at $55, got rejected...
Raised to $60 and added City Line Ave, got rejected...
Raised to $65 and added Trevose-Bensalem-accepted!

I tried a few lower bids using other regions, but this is the lowest accepted.
