Thanks. I was hoping you would respond to this post as you know Chicago so well. It appears to me that this is a no lose situation as far as the 4.5 star hotels go. My teenagers know Nordstrom Rack and Filene's well; they are a must stop. Not familiar with buffalo exchange. Is that off the red line?
As I am not a drinker and we are not breakfast people, not sure the extras Embassy Suites offer are that appealing.
Good evening. :)Please provide a follow-up for your prior Cincinnati Hotwire thread (post what you decided for that stay within that thread), then reply to this thread and I will be happy to offer suggestions for Chicago for the above dates (and I'll also offer other suggestions for these dates beyond the above, as well.)
Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
I followed up on the Cincinnati thread.
Been monitoring the hotwire rates for 4.5 star hotels Magnificient Mile/Streeterville for 12/27--12/30. Through the amenity icons, it is easy enough to identify The James (has laundry facilities and spa). As far as I know the other 4.5 are the Intercontinental or The Conrad and their amenities are the same. Is there a difference between these three and which of the 4.5 would you chose? I realize there would be no way to know if it were the Intercontinental or Conrad, which is okay. I do need to park a car so parking rates are applicable.
I am traveling with three 19 year olds who will be off shopping during the day at both Michigan Avenue and State Street. We have theater tickets for Wicked at the Cadillac Theater and tickets for Second City. All three hotels are pretty close to the red line and are only a block or two away from each other.
I have been doing my searches based on four adults in the room. Currently it is the James (I believe) on Hotwire:
Spa
Restaurant
Laundry
Fitness Center
Business Center
High Speed
$112.00/night.
Other times today the 4.5* it has been the standard no-smoking, restaurant, business center, high speed, fitness - which I assume is either the Intercontinental or Conrad leaning toward Intercontinental.
What's your recommendation
Okay, checked the same hotels today:
Downtown Cincinnati; May 22, 2009 - May 23, 2009
4* Fitness Center
Pool
Restaurant
Business Center
High Speed Internet
$79.00/night
3.5* Fitness Center
Pool
Restaurant
Business Center
High Speed Internet
$82.00/night
Which hotels do you think correspond. Yes, I use the link to book with HOTWIRE when I book. Thanks.
Hi,
Visiting Xavier University 5/23/09. Want a downtown Cincinnati hotel within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. HOTWIRE has the following:
5/22/09- 5/23/09
4* Downtown Cincinnati
Fitness
Pool
Restaurant
Business Center
$73.00/night
3.5* Downtown Cincinnati
Fitness
Pool
Restaurant
Business Center
$79.00/night
Best guess on each? Also, any other downtown hotels I should be looking for. Obviously, I have a few weeks to make a choice.
Thanks.
i booked the 4* Magnificent Mile/Streeterville.
It is the Sheraton Hotel and Tower for $76.00/night. This hotel will work out fine. I saw it out my window when I stayed at the Swissotel last year.
Amenities (as listed on Hotwire):
fitness center, restaurant, business center, high speed internet.
Sheraton's website says they have a pool, which Hotwire doesn't list.
Also, Sheraton's website says that it is an entirely smoke-free hotel.
I did use your HOTWIRE link.
Thanks for all your help.
Sorry, I did not know to ask all questions about one trip on the initial post.
Thanks for all your help. The Doubletree could work. Can you recommend any other hotels in the area? i would ideally like to keep the total under 300 for the entire stay including taxes.
Thanks.
Hi,
Traveling with one adult and two 17 year old girls who want to shop both Michigan and State Sts. Also want to go skating at Millenium Park. They don't mind walking but I don't want to be more than 1-3 blocks off Michigan Ave. if possible and closer to the river than North Michigan. I prefer a 4* but 3.5* will do.
Amenities:
Fitness center
pool
restaurant
business center
high speed

Thought at first might be Sheraton, but isn't Sheraton a 4* and the Sheraton has 300+ reviews? What do you think?
Thanks.
Which hotels do you think these are via HOTWIRE:
4* Mag Mile/Streeterville $76.00/night
Fitness center
restaurant
business center
h.s. internet
No Trip Advisor Info
4* NMA, Water Tower, Gold Coast - $66.00/night
Fitness center
restaurant
business center
h.s. internet
Trip Advisor 3.5/5.0, 220+ reviews, 11/2008
I prefer the Streeterville area because it's centrally located to where I want to go, but if the NMA isn't too far north it is an option.
Is it better to book now or should I wait. Last year I booked on Christmas Day for a similar timeframe and ended up at the Swissotel which was perfect for us.
What do you think. Thanks for your help.

Found an offer from Omni Hotel on Michigan Avenue including valet parking and food/drink voucher for $129.00/night and went with that.
Thanks for all your valuable assistance.
