  1. amenities were: Suite, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access
  2. Sorry about that. Avis and economy car.
  3. Saved a whackload of money renting a car through PRICELINE. Prices have been about $380 with taxes and fees on most sites the past couple of months. HOTWIRE had a rate of $25 a day, so I thought I would try PRICELINE at $19 a day as a joke. Went through on the first try. :) Probably couldn't have gotten it for cheaper, but very happy with the savings. All taxes in it was $250 for the week.
  4. Just need an overnight stay on the way to Grand Canyon. Had no luck going up to $40 on Priceline. Saw a 2.5* listed on HOTWIRE, several amenities, including complimentary breakfast. Rating of 3.5 on tripadvisor so thought I'd try. Ended up with Hotel Aspen Inn and Suites. Has good review, price was oly $10.00 below the listed price. But I'm happy. Don't think this one has been listed on the board before. Came out to $59 after taxes.
  5. Been trying to get a deal for the night of April 4th for a couple of weeks. Nothing was biting up to $86.00. Prices on hotwire seemed elevated for that weekend compared to all others for some reason. Tried this morning with an opening bid of $78.00 got accepted on the first try at the Stanford Court. $97.00 all told. Surprised it got accepted on the first bid, wonder if I could have got it for less, but seems like that's the cheapest price anyone has gotten it on the board, so I'm pretty happy. Used the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links on this forum. Thanks!
  6. Been trying off and on for a few weeks to get a hotel in downtown Montreal for this date. Prices dropped on hotwire this morning, so I tried $60.00 as a joke, was shocked when it got accepted. Very happy. Used the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links on this site. Thanks!
  7. Heading out east this summer and thought I'd start checking hotwire prices to see if any deals were to be had yet. Saw Ottawa had a 4* for $70.00 on Hotwire for the night we needed. So I started at $50.00 yesterday. Progression went as so: $50.00 for Ottawa $52.00 added 1st rebid zone (no 4*'s in this zone) Gloucester $55.00 added 2nd rebid zone (no 4*'s in this zone) Ottawa West left it for the day, tried again this morning $55.00 for Ottawa, rejected said they'd accept $15.00 more bid $57.00 added Gloucester - rejected $59.00 added Ottawa West - accepted total $74.59 with taxes. I'm very happy. Used the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on this forum.
  8. I've been trying to get a hotel in Grand Forks for a very good deal for this date since before Christmas. This was a case of waiting too long though. Tried bids around $39.00 back in December when HOTWIRE had rates for $49.00. Had no luck. Then noticed that all deals for Grand Forks had disappeared off of HOTWIRE only to reappear a week later at rates around $69.00 :) Started bidding on PRICELINE last week aroudn $45.00 increasing by a few dollars each day. No rebid zones offered. Always denied. Since it's the school break for the kids up here in Canada that week families have booking things solid there for that weekend (we're flying out of Grand Forks, so we only needed a night) Anyway, finally got a bite yesterday. $56.00 + tax, grand total of $69.00 at the Ramada Inn Happy with the hotel, annoyed with myself for missing out on a better deal. It's still almost half price of what the Ramada is going for that weekend though.
  9. 03/28/08-03/31/08 Started bidding yesterday at $60.00 just to try it out (I've never done a priceline bid before). Saw that HOTWIRE was offering a 3.5* in Fisherman's wharf for $96.00, figured out by the number of ratings that it was the Sheraton. Bid got denied. This morning checked HOTWIRE again, hotel was down to $83.00, added Lombard street and bid $66.00, denied, added San Francisco South with 3.5+ rating (as the other areas didn't have 3.5+) and bumped to $70.00 bid was accepted. Three nights for a total of $250 with taxes. We're doing a running race in the Presidio on the 29th, and the expo is at the Hyatt in Fisherman's Wharf on the Saturday, so our location is perfect for that! THis board was a massive help in helping me to figure out how to best bid. Looking forward to making many more bids for this trip. Thanks!
