  1. Went through 5 or 6 offers before finally accepted (added zones and lowered stars). Happy with this choice, though it's not a huge huge savings over the price elsewhere. Has an airport shuttle.
  2. Happy with this price. Note that there is a different La Quinta Riverwalk hotel. Apparently this is La Quinta Downtown, though it lies in the Riverwalk area as defined by Hotwire. Didn't see any 2.5 listings for Riverwalk on the San Antonio hotel list. 90% recommended rating. Here are the amenities; Free parking Free breakfast Free Internet Pet friendly Suite Fitness center Pool(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access Kitchenette Accessible bathroom Accessible parking Used the better bidding HOTWIRE link, of course!
  3. After searching around Price.line and Hot.wire, settled on this deal for this coming weekend. 70% love it (according to Hotwire), 3.5 stars on Tripadvisor. Amenities: Free InternetAirport ShuttleFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterSelf service laundryAccessibilityAccessible for the blindUsed your HOTWIRE link as usual. Thanks!
  4. Used the better bidding PRICELINE link. Ended up with the Crowne Plaza which seems meh, but the price was decent. Thanks! Here's my bids: 2/15 - 2/16 (one night) 4* SFO Burlingame $60 4* SFO Burlingame, San Mateo $66 4* SFO Burlingame, San Mateo, SFO North $69 4*, 3.5* SFO Burlingame, San Mateo, SFO North $60 Took a break for a day or two, then: 4* SFO Burlingame $70 4* SFO Burlingame, SFO North $74 4*,3.5* SFO Burlingame, San Mateo $75 - Success!

Thanks for the great resource.
  6. Started bidding with Ontario West only, 3.5 stars and $38. Upon rejection added 3 stars and $40. Success! Used the Better Bidding PRICELINE link for the purchase. Thanks for the great site!
  7. Thanks for the great resource! Used the PRICELINE links to sign up. Got a 3.5* SFO Burlingame hotel - the Doubletree. 1st bid - $44 - 4* SFO Burlingame - rejected 2nd bid - $49 - 4* Burlingame and added SFO North - rejected 3rd bid - $50 - added 3.5* to same areas - rejected 4th bid - $54 - added S. S.F. area - rejected 5th bid - $61 - added Union Square West - accepted! Woo, glad we were able to get a decent price at the last minute. Was looking for a night near the airport b/c we get in relatively late. Oops - see I mangled the format for the post title. I can't seem to edit it...
  8. Used the betterbidding PRICELINE link to get this rate. Thanks for the great service! We're only in town for 18 hours due to a layover so we wanted to be close to the airport. First was trying to get a 4 star in the Logan Airport category but then realized that the Convention Center area hotels were quite close and accessible via train. $79 - 4 stars, Convention Center $86 - added Logan $91 - added Sommerville $96 - added South Boston - SUCCESS! Thanks again -- hopefully it proves to be pretty easy to take the train to and from the airport. :)
  9. We did a very last minute reservation in Vancouver (this got accepted just after midnight on 8/19). I had tried combinations of 4 star and approx $105 the previous day. Got accepted this time after adding 3 star hotels. Hotel is in a great location, near Stanley Park and lots of restaurants on Denman. The rooms are so-so -- big, but pretty dated.
  10. Woo! With a little sleuthing and patience I was able to get the hotel I wanted at a great price! I kept looking over the last few days and would inevitably see a 3* in NMA for $90-$95 that matched the amenities of the Hilton Garden Inn and the City Centre. I was hoping for HGI because that's the "official" hotel of the wedding we'll be attending. As I described in the previous post, the first time I looked, there were tripadvisor ratings that made me guess HGI, but every search after the first had a 3* without any tripadvisor info. Per the suggestions, it seemed like it was more likely the City Centre. But I just checked this evening and I got a $89 quote. When I looked at the details, the TripAdvisor info was back! 4 out of 5 stars and 120+ reviews. I looked at Tripadvisor and HGI currently has 121 reviews, while City Centre only had around 70. So I figured it _had_ to be the HGI or perhaps a new place. And as luck would have it, I paid and it's the Hilton. Thanks for this great resource - I used the board's HOTWIRE link to purchase. Consider me another success story -- saving $100 per night off the $189 "special" price they quoted me when I called the hotel. Oh, one note -- after I first posted the previous thread our dates shifted by one day to 8/23-8/27. That didn't seem to affect what came up on Hotwire though. Until tonight!
  11. Thanks again for your help. To answer your questions Aaron, the original tripadvisor rating was ... 3.5 i think. it has had the # of reviews that was similar to what was on tripadvisor. maybe i was wrong though. I know you say you can't rely on the tripadvisor info, but I was browsing through some of the other possibilities and it seems like you can make some guesses -- ie, if Hotwire says it has 180+ reviews and you look at one of the possibilities on the TripAdvisor site and that hotel only has 60 reviews, it's not going to be that one. Does that make sense? Not sure who booked the Hilton Garden Inn -- it's pretty central to some of the wedding stuff. I might actually call again about their group rate, maybe the person I was talking to was mis-informed. I'll let you know if I decide upon something on Hotwire. Now I'm pondering whether to get some nicer for maybe around the same price on Priceline and just stay wherever we end up. As you guys have pointed out, things are pretty compact in that area. cheers, Mark
  12. Oh, ha, sorry - I forgot the most important part! It's a 3 star property. Basically, we're looking to stay in the Magnificent Mile area for, hopefully, $100 or less. The official wedding hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn, so that'd be nice if we end up there. Of course, the special block rate there is a mere $189... Just checked again and the listing is now $95 and, again, does not include the TripAdvisor info. Thanks for your help! Mark
  13. I'm going to piggy-back onto this thread with a very similar question -- I'm seeing Hotwire $92/night for 8/24-8/28 in Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville. 5 amenities are: Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Pool(s) So I'm guessing either Hilton Garden Inn or the City Centre. When I first looked at it earlier today, I saw the TripAdvisor listing that made me think it was the Hilton (my preferred choice) due to the # of reviews and the rating. Now, I'm checking again and I see what looks like the same hotel (though it's a $1 more now), but there's no TripAdvisor info listed at all. Do they sometimes remove it from listings or do some not have it? Now I'm a little worried that it will be the City Centre. Thanks for the great board and I'll be sure to use the HOTWIRE link when I purchase...
  14. Started with a $60 bid with just downtown Vancouver selected (we want to be able to walk as much as possible). Rejected and agreed to add $17 more and was accepted! I'm pretty happy with the Hyatt at $77. (this is a Mon & Tue night, so that makes it a little easier) thanks for this great resource!
