  1. Total with fees: $51.65. Free parking, Internet, Pool(s), Fitness, Business Center, Casino Resort, Golf Nearby. 60% recommended. Took a chance with this choice. I've never stayed at the Luxor before but it is only for one night.
  2. Sorry, that was dumb! :) It is the Holiday Inn Harmon Meadow at 300 Plaza Dr. Secaucus, NJ 07094
  3. Amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet. I booked 4 rooms for myself and colleagues. Although I have never stayed at this property before, I have eaten in the restaurant and the public spaces are pleasant. It is conveniently located adjacent to the Meadowlands Convention Center where I'll be attending a conference. Hotels.com reviewers give this hotel a 4 out of 5 rating and the least expensive rate with them was $117/nt. Also it looks like this hotel can be newly added to the BB New Jersey listings. Thank you HOTWIRE and Better Bidding!!
  4. I bid this hotel a couple of weeks ago and got it for $44/nt. Bid $44 this time and was rejected. I jumped to $60 because I really wanted to stay there. I guess this night was too close to New Year's Eve. This is a great, new hotel. Some people might question the area but it's a great value in DC.
  5. Depending on how far you want to go, the Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge area of Tennessee is very nice. You can get there from NJ in a long day's drive (10-12 hours). It is picturesque and family friendly. I believe they also do a massive hoilday lights display. The area is the Smoky Mountains region where Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina come together. You may be too late for hotels, as that holiday lights display draws a lot of visitors. Be sure to visit a great Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg. Many kid-friendly activities in Pigeon Forge (home to Dollywood Amusement park). Happy traveling!
  6. Just finished a 2-day stay at the Sheraton Suites in Alexandria and was very pleased. Hotel is in a good location, 3 blocks from a Giant supermarket and about 7 short blocks to the Metro - Braddock Road station. The hotel entrance faces a side courtyard with a circular driveway, The lobby area is very well done, appropriately modern without looking sterile. In the room there is a sitting/living room with pull-out sofa, wet bar, micro, fridge and 32" flat screen TV. Double french doors open to the bedroom which has a king bed and another 32" flat screen. The french doors only have sheer curtains over the windows which may not provide enough privacy for adults if traveling with children. Good blackout curtains and good room climate controls. Free shuttle to/from Reagan National(5 minute ride), where you can also get the Metro. Make sure you take the right shuttle from the airport as there are 3 Sheratons in the same area. There is a small fitness center and an indoor pool with jacuzzi. The Fin & Hoof restaurant is in the lobby. Wired or wireless internet is $10/24 hours. Quiet hotel seems good for business or adult leisure travel (I didn't see any kids). Try the Royal Restaurant across the street for an excellent Sunday breakfast buffet brunch $11.25 pp includes made to order omelettes, fresh made waffles, home fries, grits, bacon, sausage, etc.

  8. The Crowne Plaza was great. I admit I didn't spend much time in the hotel but the room and public spaces were excellent. Very safe area to walk in. Old Town is very picturesque. Definitely worth the price. Thanks for a great resource.
  9. Thanks for the explanation. Okay the date was for 11/14/08 - 11/15/08. Amenities listed were: Airport Shuttle Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) High-speed Internet Tennis nearby BTW, I had an mechanical emergency that forced me to remain in Alexandria for 2 more nights. What is the precedent for extending stays with a HOTWIRE price? Are hotels amenable or do they attempt to bump the rate up automatically? For the record, I went back on Hotwire and rebooked and got the Sheraton Suites in the same area (2 blocks away), but I am just curious. And yes, I will put it under a separate forum topic. Thanks.
  10. Hello All, First time user of the board's HOTWIRE link. 3.5* Crowne Plaza in Arlington, $88.26 with tax & fees. I was a little surprised that this came up as a 3.5* hotel since BetterBidding research has it at 3*. I hope that this is an exception and not HOTWIRE's way of lowering the bar. Parking is $15/day with in/out privileges and high-speed internet is $9.99/day.
