  1. It was my first stay in NJ. And it won't be my last. It was a simple PATH ride to the hotel. Like Brooklyn, nothing to be afraid of. It just gives me another area to check out nxt time. And I liked the hotel too.
  2. I stayed her a little over a year ago at New Year's. I loved my room. I had a room overlooking the intersection of Broadway and Amsterdam and could see the Lincoln Center patrons walk the steps to their evenings show at the opera or the symphony or the theatre. I liked my room a lot. And as a boutique designed hotel I'd give you this advice. Don't call and ask about the missing shower curtains. Just accept them as not being there, and make puddles. That's what a friend told me, and I did just that. I think you landed a fine hotel. And go to bar before you go to your room to ask the hours of the oyster specials. I know I had a few Goose Island Stouts with Oysters on that visit.
  3. In the 4 years I've used priceline and the almost 30 different hotels I've had in NYC this is the first one I've been disappointed with(Insert a polite face here(grrr)). I could have paid a little more to get a much nicer hotel in Feb and I mistook underbidding a 3* as a good thing. What I assumed would be a non-smoking room was a smoking room. I should have stuck to my rule 4* or bust and only cave to a 3.5 after a good 4* attempt. I did get moved the second night to a different room but was told that priceline had booked my a smoking room. Not good for someone that is allergic. I went to the drug store and still woke up with red marks on my legs. I did my best to stay out as late as possible each night. Thank god for some cool bars in Hell's Kitchen. Valhalla anyone.... Nevertheless my service even when I asked for a manger was Holiday Inn doesn't move people. Though they claim to a no charge for disappointing service in the poster in the hotel room. I would have been happy to move. The web told me I could but the manager said no and only moved me the second night. I'm started using Holiday Hell instead of Holiday Inn this past week. I would avoid bidding any hotel that has a Holiday Inn in the future regardless of the low standing the hotel chain usually has and I think the low standing is, well, their earned standing.
  4. I booked this from a friends computer the day before I left. Feb is a down time but wasn't expecting this. Just back this morning and liked the hotel and the trip. Hope this helps someone in the coming weeks.
  5. Another new hotel for me as all my 3 prev trips I ended up at the Marriot. As always, hope this helps someone this winter or nxt winter. Happy New Year BB and BB friends.
  6. I was. The room was pretty big and it was in Hell's Kitchen, which is my favourite neighbourhood to hang out in at night.
  7. This was an extremely last minute add on. The price on the website was $99 and I just had to see if there was a 3* in Times Square on priceline lower than that and there was. :)
  8. Got this one again. :) Yeah! As Always I hope this helps someone.
  9. And PS. my previous bid was $145. So it might be possible to get it for $146, 147, or 148. Then someone can say they have a better deal. lol!
  10. Darn it was hard to get a room for Saturday. This is the 2nd highest I've paid for a room in NYC since August 2010. Only New Year's was more. Anyways I know this is a new hotel. So am more than happy to check it out this weekend. Goodluck everyone that's still looking for a room this weekend.
  11. I got this hotel on my first visit to Pittsburgh and am glad to have it again.
  12. Looking on better bidding today and decided that I was prepared to split this weekend between 2 hotels. At least I have a deal for one night. Still looking for Saturday which I see a few others are too.
  13. Looks like I scored a hotel on Priceline that no one has reported before. Saw it at $152 and wondered if the Name your own price would be less. Looking forward to staying at another new hotel.
  14. I logged in saw this priceline win and just got the same hotel. I saw that you said it was your first bid so I thought I would try to go lower and see what happened. I got it on my first bid for $81 for the same dates. I wonder if someone will be lucky enough to get this at an even lower rate than I. See you SF.
  15. I tried all the areas with 4* hotels up to $130. No luck. So I saw that Sheraton had been upped to a 4*. First bid was 80, no response. 2nd bid $90 countered with $115. So I dollared it up to $99. It's on the subway so with a fun day pass for $8. So all in at $107 is fabulous to me. And I'm not afraid of a train ride to the dark side(Brooklyn) lol. It's just one train ride from Manhattan central. The last time I got this hotel it was 3.5*, so heads up it's been upgraded to a 4* and can't be used as a rebid zone any longer. It's a great deal for me. cheers to all.
  16. Nice. I stayed at the Warwick a month ago and liked it. Enjoy your trip.
  17. I was bidding on 3.5* counter offer when I got this upgraded bid to a 4*. I had bid up to 103 for a 4* before I was counteroffered for 128. But decided to try for a 3.5* instead and started at 75. Counteroffered at $94 to 119. Decided at this point to use combinations of rebid zones. The result, 'Congratulations, we
  18. I just got a 4* priceline hotel in July yesterday for $109 a night. It was in the CPS zone. And in my experience of a year on PRICELINE I've generally got better deals by booking in advance. And I always feel relieved that I've got a place. Are those the only zones you are considering? I think the moderators like it when you list all the zones you would accept. I'm almost guessing you can get something cheaper in one of the central zones on PRICELINE.
  19. If you are sticking to 4* only. I've stayed at the Empire on the Upper West and it the only 'reported' 4* in that neighbourhood and it is on the south end of the park. Just a wee bit north of Hell's Kitchen. And I might add Hell's Kitchen too. The bars off of 8th are pretty good. Just to give you a few other hotels that might have the deal. But I think the moderators are right it looks like the prices are very high for your days and you might be bidding up to your limit. Ps. What neighbourhood are you looking to bar/club hop?
  20. I helped a friend get this deal. He saw a hotwire rate for $109 3.5* in the same area & was willing to take it. I suggested we try priceline first. We tried to get a 4* first for 109 or less. No luck. Then we started with a 3.5* and first bid of $75 was counteroffered for $95. He wanted to take that but I told him we can add combinations of rebid zones and I coached him over the internet and he got it for $79. He's back and loved the location of the hotel. It was perfect for him. So yeah I saved my friend $30 a night for 3 nights. I think he owes me a beer. :)
  21. And the hotel has the famous Feinstein's Lounge. I just might have to check out a perfomance when I'm there.
  22. I did check my reservation again and it is listed as a 3.5*. cheers
