  1. 2.5* Santa Rosa Marriott

    Accepted Bid: $45

    April 12th & 13th

I put in a bid at $42, used Sonoma as a free re-bid zone since it has no 2.5* and the hotels there are outrageously priced compared to Santa Rosa.

DO NOT ever bid high on a 2.5* in Sonoma County hoping for a 3* upgrade!

Try 3* first for $40-$50 then raise by a few dollars and use Sonoma as a re-bid zone (on other bidding boards I have seen that Sonoma 3* gets accepted for around $80 or so). Not been burned using this strategy about two-dozen times.

For some reason, I have found that on the same trip I have paid higher for a 2.5* room at the Marriott than for a 3* room at either the Doubletree or Hilton in Santa Rosa.

It just depends on availability, but perhaps since the Marriott has the most central location, they have a higher minimum for accepting a bid. Both the Hilton and Doubletree are pretty empty when I have been there.

  2. 3* Santa Rosa Hilton

    5/1-5/6

    $35 bid + $10 Bonus Money

Got it on the first try. That's about the average price that works for me. I have gotten it for as low as $41 a night before.

Usually Sonoma County, CA 3* is the Santa Rosa Hilton or Rohnert Park Doubletree, depending on availability.

Santa Rosa Hilton has much nicer rooms, hotel, and staff in my opinion.

The Rohnert Park Doubletree banishes you to a room that doesn't *look* rennovated, and is way on the back side of the hotel...
