  1. I've been bidding 4* in Paris for the last 4 days. I went to $130 for Batignolles-Monmartre area and $98 for St. Germain with no luck (except counter bid of $15). Today my first bid was $100 and I was accepted. The rack rate for the Marriott is EUR179 per night (Approx. $250). Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$100.00 Subtotal: US$300.00 Taxes & Fees: US$36.36 Total Charges: US$336.36 Used the PRICELINE link.
  2. Just wanted to post this as useful information. I spoke to someone tonight who got the above deal. I had tried bidding to $57 for these dates with no luck and ended up at the Doubletree.
  3. Hi Simon. I know this time of year is about the cheapest that NYC gets (don't go in November), so I knew I'd get a bargain of some sort, just annoyed that I didn't bid lower to start with. Noticed that someone just got it for$80 on 2 of the nights I'm there. (I know, don't sweat the small stuff! In New York it seems to be best to wait until the week before the stay to bid. In other towns, it can be worth bidding a few weeks before. I'm in Asheville at the moment and would have got a better deal if I'd done that. Of course it's easier to bid at the last minute in somewhere like New York or Asheville where there are plenty of free rebids but it's much more nerve-wracking when you only have 1 bid a day! Oh the joy of PRICELINE!!
  4. This was my first bid, so maybe they will do cheaper. Rack rate for those nights is $216. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $90.00 Subtotal: $360.00 Taxes & Fees: $86.44 Total Charges*: $446.44 Used the PRICELINE link.
  5. I booked this on the 13th February and rack rate at the time was $105. Seems to work best if you bid this hotel more than a week in advance. I couldn't get it for a stay last night, which I also tried to book on the 13th. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $35.00 Subtotal: $35.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.99 Total Charges*: $46.99 Used the PRICELINE link.
  6. The Crowne Plaza is fully booked on Saturday. I bid to $57 for 3.5* hoping for the Renaissance with no luck. Bid 3* up to $48 without success then increased to $50 and got the Doubletree (rack rate is $109). I think we're in a Priceline room - ground floor in the old part. It's seen better days and not up to the usual Doubletree standards. Internet access is non-existent and tonight there was no hot water! Oh well, only 4 nights to go. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $50.00 Subtotal: $250.00 Taxes & Fees: $45.90 Total Charges: $295.90 Used the PRICELINE link
  7. This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. It's new and is very well equiped with a fridge, microwave & safe in the large rooms. Free decent breakfast, gym, pool and laundry. Far better than many 3 or 3.5* hotels we stay in.
  8. Tried 3* at $38 and had counterbid of $53. Added 2.5*, bid $41 and accepted. Please could you add this hotel to the list. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $41.00 Subtotal: $41.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.87 Total Charges*: $53.87 used the PRICELINE link
  9. Over the last week I've bid to $70 for 3.5* and $61 for 3* with no success. Today I started at $65 for 3.5* and had a counter-bid at $85. Bid $68 & $70 and was accepted at $72. Rack rate today is $159. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $72.00 Subtotal: $72.00 Taxes & Fees: $17.42 Total Charges*: $89.42 Used the PRICELINE link
  10. Bid rejected at $50. Also bid to $60 at 3* and rejected. Used the PRICELINE link
  11. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $114.00 Subtotal: $114.00 Taxes & Fees: $31.31 Total Charges*: $145.31 Booked via your PRICELINE link
  12. Hi there, Rack rate dropped today from $164 to $139. I bid $50, then added Jersey City (bit of a risk but there's no reported 2.5* and if there was, very unlikely to get it for $55 this time of year!) and was accepted. Used your PRICELINE link. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $55.00 Subtotal: $55.00 Taxes & Fees: $16.04 Total Charges*: $71.04
  13. Hi Jengiles The probable reason is that the current rack rate for those dates is $312. If you break it down, the rates are $369 on the 16th, $284 on the 17th and $269 on the 18th, so it's the 16th that's going to cause problems. It's worth checking out rack rates in some of the other hotels in other areas to see if they are a little lower. After checking out Tripadvisor reviews, the 2.5* hotels in the following areas all seem to have pretty good ratings: ESB, MSG, Chelseas and Downtown. I didn't check further uptown zones. Also, it can sometimes be better to bid closer to the travel dates as the hotels often release rooms closer to the day. If you can book a cancelable backup, try that option. Look at what the prices are like on Hotwire to get an idea of availability. I was looking over labour day weekend and it was very clear from HOTWIRE that I didn't stand a chance on the Saturday!. Good luck and remember there is always Jersey City. I often stay at the 4* Hyatt which is right by the Path station and goes straight into WTC. Oh and don't foget to use this sites PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links! Good luck
  14. This is a newly opened hotel and seems to have good reviews on Tripadvisor. Please could you also add it to the hotel list. Rates seem quite high again for this night in NYC, so I bid $100 for 2.5* in ESB, MSG, Chelsea and then Downtown where I was accepted by Holiday Inn Express. Rack rate for that night is $279. Used the PRICELINE link.
  15. Had started bidding at $100 and this was my final bid at 4* level having used all the zones. The rack rate is $429 so a good deal considering it's Labour day weekend. Booked via your PRICELINE link.
  16. Have been trying to get a hotel for 5 days now. Turned down at $60 for West and East 4*. Also tried West 3* at $45 and denied. Started new window with East 3* (there doesn't appear to be a 3* in the East) and was accepted at $65. Rack rate for hotel is EUR169 so this was a good deal. Used the PRICELINE Link.
  17. Just wanted to let people know what a great hotel this is. I've stayed in far worse 4* hotels. I think it's a 2.5* because it doesn't have a bar or restaurant but who needs that in NYC? We stayed in room 201 which may well be the worst room they have as we didn't check in until 2.30am! It was very large with a great bed but was a bit hot and close to the breakfast area so a bit noisy. I would really recommend this hotel especially if you can get a good Priceline deal.
  18. Hi there I have a UK credit card and just enter my correct UK address for street & town. I then use NJ for the state and 07605 for the zip code. This has worked fine for both visa and mastercards for me Happy bidding! BTW if you have trouble getting a reasonably priced hotel in New York, you can also look at Jersey City hotels - the Hyatt, Doubletree Marriott and Westin are close to the PATH station which goes straight into NYC
  19. Tried these dates at $65 and was rejected. As there were no free rebid zones, I bid $70 for the 26th - 28th and was accepted. I then extended 1 night to the 1st. Slightly more expensive way of doing it as you pay more in fees but it seemed such a good deal, I just wanted to make sure we had the booking. The rack rate had moved from $119 per night last night to $139 by the time I bid this morning, which is probably why I didn't get the $65 rate. Used the PRICELINE link.
  20. Rack rate for this hotel was $259 per night for these dates so I started at $75 and was accepted on the first bid. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to Priceline!! Anyway, it means that someone should be able to get a cheaper price for these dates if they start lower and use one of the 6 free rebids. Stupid me. FYI, their website says that they are doing construction work 8.30 - 5pm. Used the PRICELINE link.
  21. Bid $40 and accepted straight away at this hotel. Rack rate is $95. Please could you add this hotel to the hotel list. It's a brand new hotel and looks very nice on the website. Used the PRICELINE link.
  22. Bid $41 yesterday and upped the bid to $43 and accepted. Rack rate is $139 for this night, so a good deal. Capital Ale House here we come! Used the PRICELINE Link
  23. Hi Martin As your trip is so far away, I would suggest that you book a hotel that you can later cancel if you are successful with PRICELINE. Although you can sometimes get a Priceline hotel months in advance, I tend to be more successful leaving it until a few weeks before, or even within a week of going. It's also worth checking out what's being offered on the HOTWIRE site, as this will give you an idea of availability and prices (Hotwire prices are around 20% higher). Good luck! Anna
  24. Started at $45 and worked up from there using the 5 free rebids at 3.5* level until accepted at $51. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $51.00 Subtotal: $51.00 Taxes & Fees: $14.30 Total Charges*: $65.30 The lowest rack rate on their website (for seniors) is $136. Just for info, I also bid to $45 at 3* level with no success. Used your PRICELINE link.
  25. Rack rate was $219 so wasn't expecting this hotel. Only had yesterday evening to bid, so bid $60 - no, $70 - no, $80 - no, finally accepted on $85 for one night and then extended for a second night. Nice hotel with big gym. They charge for internet which is a pain but you can get free on street parking if you walk about 4 blocks north up the hill. Monterey is lovely and you can see Sea Lions basking on a platform right by the harbour. Used the PRICELINE link.
