  1. thanks, ended up staying with my friend in manhattan, bit cramped but cheaper!
  2. staying from the 6 of oct to the 11th. bid up to $170 from $100 using the free rebid areas. this seems extremely excessive for vegas, especially as hotwire has a 5* for $172. Any advice? trump hotel is not an option by the way. thanks
  3. those are the correct dates yes, the couple will be in new york from the 28-01 october. the budget will be as little as possible for a 3.5 star or a 4 star hotel in new york. I would preferably not include the hudson, but everywhere else is fine. i understand that hotels will be more expensive using the normal websites so i will be using hotwire/betterbidding. I just expected priceline to be less expensive than hotwire. I shall be rebidding tomorrow evening. Any suggestions?
  4. i've hotels to book in NY,SF and Las Vegas, so I have been looking closely at this. Dates are 28-01, 01-06 then 06-11. Total budget would be around 1500-2000 for the lot which should allow mostly 4 star hotels I think. for the new york area I'm looking at anywhere in Manhattan except the financial district. I thought priceline would of been cheaper but for some reason this doesnt seem to be the case in New York. Any advice would be welcomed
  5. dates are 28/09 to 01/10 212 dollars a night, with boutique, fitness centre, restaurant and high speed internet access available amenities. I've bid up to 200 dollars on priceline and havent got anywhere which most zones applied for in manhattan. is the hotel hotel mela and do you think this would be the best option for a 3.5 star/ 4 star hotel in new york? i'm booking a honeymoon for a cousin so dont want them to be unhappy!
  6. bid 22-24, 4* up to 120 3 1/2* up to 115 3* up to 105 added in arlington. tomorrow i will add crystal city and alexandria as other areas to stay in.
  7. i changed the dates to the 22-24, staying in ny for an extra day. bid up to 105 for a 3 star in the mainareas, dt,dp,cc and fb. might have to add in arlington and alexandria tomorrow. still nothing.............
  8. bid up to $100 for these dates with a 3.5 star and nothing. dont want to go any higher. may have to revise the plans
  9. bid up to 110 for 4 nights with cps, mtw mte and ts with the free re-bids. will try again tomorrow night, any suggestions?
  10. thank for the reply, i think theres a teachers convention on around that date. i might have to stay in philly instead although i was looking forward to showing my girlfriend around the sights. any thoughts on waiting until a few days before? would that have an impact on the prices?
  11. planning on heading to washington dc for these dates, budget $100 a night. would like to be near the mall so i was thinking of staying in this order: 1. wh-dt 2.cc 3.dc id like a 4* but could settle for a 3.5 if required. hotel prices for that time though seem very expensive compared to say 18-20th april. id be happy for any advice.
  12. having been rejected up to $100 for USE,USW,SOMA and Embarcadero, I'm going to try tonight to lower it to 3.5 stars. the reviews on tripadvisor for the 3.5 at usw and embarcadero are good so i think we should still have a great time. I'm just not sure im using the best strategy, should i target the 4* 1st using the free rebid zones for each? such as bid for embarcadero use up all the free bids then try use, then try usw? if that doesnt work then go to 3.5 stars? thanks for any replies, getting a wee bit concerned now that i havent booked anywhere!!!
  13. i have now split the dates up from the 10-15 and still cant get anything 4* under $100!! i have use soma usw embard, all ticked and nothing!! is there any reason why its so expensive at the minute? is there anything else i can do? thanks
  14. price is the main issue for me im afraid!! ive bid up to $85 for the Embarcadero area, the usw and the use areas and soma and now have no bids left. should i change the dates avaliable?what would my next move be?
  15. i think i'll bid for 7 nights downtown, and get a shuttle early on the monday morning. i'll start with bidding $85 for usw then work from there i think. i really like the marriott and would like to stay there if preferable, what would the best strategy be for getting that? thanks again
  16. thanks for your reply, never thought of splitting the hotels but i think we could manage that, we are leaving san francisco early on the monday morning so i suppose we could stay in an airport hotel the night before to save money. the 4 areas, USW, USE, Embarcadero, or SOMA i think would be the most preferable as i think these are the places where the shopping is. I dont want to be doing a lot of hotel shifting, but i willing to make one or two moves if required. many thanks again for your reply. what do you think the next steps should be?
  17. hows it going? been a long time lurker and now i think im ready to take the step forward to actually using here!! I'm heading on my honeymoon from ireland and staying in san fran from the 10th-17th Nov. Budget is around 70-100 tops. We would to be within walking distance of most attractions, where would you suggest? I'm at the mercy of the forum here! i've waited as long as possible to get the best deal but the 'wife' is getting itchy feet now and would like somewhere sorted, ive already told here that its a surprise, so somewhere nice hopefully will be the surprise. any help would be appreciated!
