  1. Thanks for the reply! I want try 4* up to my limit, then if rejected, try for a 3.5*, then maybe I'd be willing to raise my limit.
  2. Hi, I'll be in San Francisco, arriving Friday, Nov. 13 departing Monday, Nov. 16 and am looking for a nice place to stay with my girlfriend for three nights. I consulted this Web site when I made the trip last year, and wound up bidding a little more on Priceline than I would have paid on Hotwire! So, I was hoping you guys can help me formulate a bidding strategy. I'm looking for a place that's at least 3 stars and at most $100/night -- the more stars and cheaper the better! Last time, we stayed in the Hilton in USW/Nob Hill for $100. I could live with that deal again, but I'd also like to try something different. The areas that I could live with: Civic Center Financial District Fisherman's Wharf Marina SOMA-Moscone Center Union Square East Union Square West - Nob Hill One consideration is that we have a 6a flight on Monday morning. I suppose proximity to BART won't be an issue, since we won't be taking it that early anyway... Thanks very much!
  3. Looking for Paris hotel info too... samlooker, I know no one responded about buses, but I'd wager no one knows about buses. If you can, would you please complete the thread? What happened? All info helps.
  4. Thanks! 4* East got nothing, but 4* West got the Movenpick Frankfurt City. For $40 a night, for three nights, with taxes and charges the total billed to my credit card was $151.01 USD.
  5. On Friday, May 22nd I obtained a price of $40 a night, for three nights, with taxes and charges the total billed to my credit card was $151.01 USD.
  6. Sorry... thanks for your patience. I'm willing to accept Frankfurt zones West and East, but prefer West. Yes, I'd like a 4* property for less than $44, which is what I can get via hotwire.
  7. Thanks! Maybe I'll bid and find out what the hotel is! I would still like to do better though. Can you formulate a Priceline strategy with just a maximum bid of $43? Cheers!
  8. Whoops! Sorry -- I am trying to both determine the hotel above and to bid on Priceline. Maybe they should be two different posts? Room assignment went off without a hitch. I got a smallish room without a view, but I didn't expect much. Shall I attach a review to my post?
  9. Sorry for the confusion -- if you have a suggestion for a bidding strategy, I would be very grateful for it as well! Right now $44/night in the area specified by priceline looks pretty good!
  10. I see a 4* in Frankfurt that's been going for $44 a night. The only amenities are a fitness center and restaurant though. Any idea what this could be? Thanks!
  11. I won my bid for a hotel stay at the Hilton (USW) in San Francisco. I overpaid by a bit, so I'd like to make the most of my reservation. The hotel has good rooms and bad rooms, generally in different towers. Would it be wise for me to call ahead to see if I can get one of the better rooms, or would it be better to wait until I check in? And when I check in, would it be better if I did it just with credit card and ID, rather than the priceline printout? Thanks!
  12. First time user. Was hoping for a 4* hotel near the water in SF with my girlfriend. Used other posts as a helpful guide. Started with the Embarcadero with 4* for $75 Added Civic center (tops at 3*) ... $80 Fisherman's wharf (tops at 3.5*) ... $85 Marina (tops at 2*) ... $90 Then ran out of lower-star places, decided to try adding USW. Hoped to get at the top of Nob Hill, like the Hopkins or something. Got the Hilton in USW. $100. Overpaid by $8. Noticed Hotwire probably running same hotel for $92. D'oh!
