  1. Wanted to be downtown, no flexibility on that, so wrote down my rebid zones (at under 3*, there are four for Baltimore). $41 (the lowest price without the 'red message'), Downtown only, rejected $43 adding East, rejected $45 adding Stadiums, rejected $47 adding West, rejected $49 adding Glen Burnie, accepted I see in the review here that they may charge a $10 resort fee, but at this price in this location, I'm not going to throw a fit if they do. :)
  2. I stayed at this hotel last week and posted a hotel review of it today in the reviews section. It is a very nice hotel. You won't be disappointed. (I paid more than you did too! :)) IMO, it deserves at least a 2.5*. If my room was a smoking room, it didn't show. No smell of smoke and I don't remember seeing ashtrays out.
  3. Stayed here the night of 6/12/09 for $61 (Hotwire). Location is easy to find, and while not right on the beach, it's only about a one block walk to the beach and right beside a mini-golf course. Free parking. I was very impressed with this hotel. La Quintas seem to be hit or miss and this one was extremely nice. It's either new or newly renovated. Room was large with modern decor and very clean. Pillowtop beds. Bathroom had a huge mirror and a great shower. Free wireless internet worked great. My only complaint is that the TV could have been better; we had to fiddle with the connections to get a clear picture. Also some of the guests on our floor were pretty loud but that's to be expected in a vacation town. Highly recommended overall.
  4. Stayed here the night of 6/11/09 for $34 (Hotwire). Location is good. Easy to find and right near a Walmart and some fast food options. Free parking. We had some weirdness upon check-in. We didn't arrive until around 9:30 pm and the outside doors to the lobby were locked (had to swipe your room key, which of course we didn't have yet). There was a phone outside that you are supposed to dial '0' to reach the front desk. Tried many times to no avail, both from that phone and by calling their regular number from my cell phone. Finally a man who had his room key to swipe went inside so we followed him in. We found out that the front office had closed at 9:00. We had to track down a lady in the hallway to check us in, and she told us that a storm had knocked their phone lines out. Obviously that is not the hotel's fault, and she was very polite. I just thought it was strange that the desk closes at 9:00. This is obviously meant to be an extended-stay type hotel. The room was clean but small. Our room only had one bed and it was hard and only a full size. No pullouts or sofas either. I understand that's the risk you take when booking thru a discount site. Bathroom was a decent size and clean, shower was good. I did not have a need to use the kitchenette, but it looked as expected: fridge, small stove, microwave, sink, a few dishes in the cabinets. Bottom line is that it was fine for one night and probably would have been fine if I were traveling alone, but with two of us traveling, we'd have been pretty uncomfortable in that small bed for any amount of time. Unless you're traveling alone, I'd suggest requesting quad occupancy through Hotwire if you think you're getting this hotel and maybe you'll get a room with two beds. EDITED TO ADD: I almost forgot, our room was unlocked upon our arrival. I guess they forgot to lock it back with a key after cleaning it. We were tired and frustrated so we just locked our deadbolt and didn't tell anyone. Would have been bad if we hadn't noticed!
  5. I had some trouble accessing this board a couple of days ago (might have been on my end?) when I reserved this so wasn't able to use the HOTWIRE link, but wanted to report this win since it appears to be a new property for the HOTWIRE list. Reviews are extremely mixed leaning toward negative, but I'm not too worried...it seems as though a lot of people only write reviews when they have bad things to say. :) Plus it's only one night, and can't beat the price. I will post a review here after my stay. Amenities are: Suite Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Kitchenette
  6. Over the past few days I had failed bids for 2.5* starting at $36 (in $3 or so increments) up to $63. Today I started at $70 for 3* and was accepted. Looks like other people have gotten prices quite a bit lower for this level in this area, but I think it being Memorial Day weekend made a difference in price.
  7. After many, many, many failed Priceline bids (19!) at the 2.5* level over the past several days, I finally buckled down and just went through Hotwire. I didn't want to spend quite this much but I do understand June starts the busy season down there. :) I just need a room for a night before I can check into my timeshare anyway. Rack rate is $84-94 so I'm happy enough. Amenities: Complimentary breakfast Pool Laundry Hi-Speed internet It looks like this may be a new hotel for the Hotwire list. :)
  8. Stayed here the night of 3/26/09 for $35 (Priceline bid). Everything was as expected for this level of hotel. Free parking, room was large and clean, beds were comfortable, shower was great. There is a bar in this hotel. We were not here long enough to have experience with any of the food but there was a room service menu ($10-$20 for entrees...probably a little overpriced but I've seen much worse). I do NOT believe they had a free breakfast; I saw a menu with breakfast prices. If they do offer a free one, it was not advertised in the lobby or elsewhere. Location convenient to I-64.
  9. Stayed here from 3/27/09 to 3/29/09 for $35 a night (Priceline bid). Front desk staff was very accommodating, letting me check in about an hour and a half early for no extra fee. Also free parking here. This is one of my favorite hotel chains; I always think it has a very homey feel to the lobby and the rooms themselves. This particular location was about the same as others I have stayed in in other cities. Our room was a standard king. Bed was large and comfy, room itself was pretty large as well. My only room complaint was with the shower. Actually my shower was fine, but my husband said his was cold. I guess he was showering at the same time as everyone else in the hotel. Free continental breakfast was pretty standard and as expected. Location is *fairly* convenient to downtown (about 10 miles) but if you're going to be doing a lot downtown, you may want to try to be closer. There are a lot of interstate splits between the airport area and the downtown area which are VERY confusing if you don't have knowledge of the city (or a GPS). Still, for the price, it worked just fine for us.
  10. Won on first bid of $35 with all regions selected. Requested 2.5* and was upgraded to 3*. Rack rate is $79-99 depending on number of beds. :) I love saving money!
  11. Wow, what a difference a few miles makes! After much bidding trouble in the downtown region, I got this property on my very first bid at $35. Free parking too, always a plus. It looks like this may be a new property for the Priceline list. :)
  12. Usually under the "name your own price" box, if you type in something ridiculously low, it says something like "Based on recent data, your price has only a small chance of being accepted." When I first started bidding for this trip, it told me that at $30 but when I typed in $32, that warning went away. So I guess I thought I'd get something closer to that range. Anyway, I'm working on it again now, will post it in a new thread if successful. :) EDIT: Got all the way up to $60 and still rejected, seems pretty high for only a 2.5*. I've gotten 2.5* and 3* in lots of places before for only $35-45. I'm going to try the airport area instead and just drive in. Thanks for everyone's help though!
  13. Thanks for the reply. Are you saying that most people are bidding in this zone for properties LOWER than 2.5*, or higher than 2.5*? Because obviously I would take something higher. :) Anyway, I'll try again this evening when the 24 hours have elapsed. Hopefully if I can up to about $60, I'll get something.
  14. I want 2.5* or better in the downtown/Vanderbilt area for March 27-29. I noted that the regions of North, West, and South Nashville only have 2* or less available, so wrote those down for rebid zones. Yesterday I started my bidding at $32 in downtown only and was rejected. I had to leave so didn't mess with it any more yesterday. Just now I tried a few more bids with my rebid zones and all were rejected (all for 2.5* or higher): $36 - downtown $40 - downtown and West $44 - downtown, West, and North $48 - downtown, West, North, and South Any Nashville-ians aware of something going on that weekend that would have hotels booked up? I realize I am being cheap but have successfully bought this level of hotel at this price in lots of different cities. I might try again at $55 tomorrow but that would be my upper limit. Next step would be either to suck it up at a 2*, or maybe look for something around the airport, but would much rather be downtown.
  15. Stayed here the night of 11/17/08 for $55 (Priceline bid). Location not immediately off the interstate but still fairly convenient to DC (about 12 miles from downtown). Free parking. Very nice lobby and nice clean room. My room had one king bed w/pillowtop mattress and mini-fridge. Toiletries provided in bathroom. Shower had excellent pressure.
  16. Stayed here the night of 11/14/08 for $55 (Priceline bid). Location is easy to find; it is literally right by the airport. Free parking. There are several different buildings and all of the rooms do have an outer entrance. It felt kind of like an apartment complex. All of the rooms are suites; one bedroom or two bedroom. Keep in mind when you are bidding on Priceline you will more than likely be getting a one bedroom suite. We had three people in our room and when I called the hotel a couple of weeks in advance to request two beds she told me that she couldn't switch me from a one bedroom to a two since the reservation was already made. However, all of the rooms do have a pullout sofabed which was comfortable according to my friend. Linens for the pullout were stored in the room's closet. The room itself was great. Pillowtop mattress on the bed. Full kitchen with full-size fridge, stove, and microwave. Large mirror with two sinks outside the bathroom. As long as you have three people or less then I would highly recommend a one-bedroom suite here.
  17. I stayed here the night of 11/13/08 for $50 (Priceline bid). The location was a little bit hard to find in the dark, make sure you are following the signs. We did miss it and have to turn around. It would probably be no problem in daylight. Free parking. Room was nice, I was pleased that there were two beds in ours since with Priceline you are unable to specify. Beds were comfortable, shower was good. Toiletries provided which is always nice. TV could have been better with size, picture quality, and channel lineup. Not a big deal since we basically just went to sleep. Though not overly fancy, the room was definitely clean and adequate, however I will say that it didn't seem like a 3.5* room; they might have gotten a lot of their star rating from the non-room-related amenities available (conference rooms, golf, etc). The room seemed more like something from a 2.5*...a Courtyard or something similar, which in my opinion is just fine in most situations. The lady at the front desk was very helpful. When I asked how much of an incidental hold would be placed on my debit card she said $80 but then manually reduced it to $20 for me. Always a big help when extra money isn't frozen in your bank account. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially since there is NOTHING widely available in this area for that price. (I recently stayed at a pretty gross 2* nearby for $80!!) There just aren't a lot of choices available to offer competing prices with each other.
  18. Stayed here for $59 a night (Hotwire) from 10/31/08 - 11/2/08. Parking was free, which is always a huge plus. The lobby was absolutely beautiful. The front desk staff were not super friendly, but not unfriendly either. The room was very nice; the front part was a sitting room with a pullout couch bed, small desk, mini-fridge, and flat-screen TV. Bedroom had two double beds and another flat-screen TV. (That's right...two TV's total.) The beds were comfortable with pillow-top mattresses, though the bed size felt a little smaller than my double at home somehow. Bathroom was clean and shower had good pressure. Lots of free toiletry samples provided. I did not have time to go to the restaurant, bar, or fitness center so I can't give an opinion on those. The only negative thing I have to say about the hotel is that wireless internet cost $10 per 24-hour period. Also it took them 5 business days after checkout to lift the incidental hold ($50 per night) from my debit card, which is irritating but pretty standard. All in all a very nice place. :)
  19. This one was a lot of work over several days: Bid 2.5* $30 in Morgantown, rejected. Added 2*, rejected. Bid 2.5* $35 in Morgantown, rejected. Added 2*, rejected. Bid 2.5* $42 in Morgantown, rejected. Added 2*, rejected. (Was told if I upped by $12 I could bid again immediately, but I'm stubborn.) Bid 2.5* $40 in Bridgeport or Fairmont (nearby towns), rejected. Added 2*, rejected. Finally accepted at 2.5* $50 in Morgantown, and upgraded to this 3.5*. It is a little more than I wanted to pay as this is basically just my "get some sleep halfway to my destination" hotel, but it looks like I was going to be paying about the same amount for a 2* in the area anyway.
  20. Bid at 2.5*, $50 for College Park only, rejected. Added Silver Spring and upped to $55, rejected. Added Greenbelt/Hyattsville still at $55, accepted and upgraded to 3*.
  21. These are what comes up in the pop-up when I click on "hotel details" under my trip itinerary. If there's another way to view them then I'm not sure what it is. (I don't remember seeing that it was a suite before I booked it, but I might have just not paid attention. :) ) Amenities: Suite Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf nearby
  22. Full name of hotel is Hilton Suites Lexington Green. Title was too long and it got cut off. I'm a happy camper. :)
  23. According to the hotels list on this board, this is a 2.5*. However, I placed a Priceline bid of $55 for a 2.5* and when I got my answer, it said "congratulations, you have been upgraded to a 3*" and gave the hotel name. Sooo...? Anyway, I'm very happy. My only issue is the number of beds thing, we have three people staying and when I called to request two beds, they said they only have one bedroom suites and two bedroom suites (much pricier), so one of us is going to be sleeping on a sofa pullout. Oh well.
