  1. I'm unsure as to whether or not this is a new property for the list; it appears it may be. Amenities: Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center Hi-Speed Internet
  2. Started this morning at $60 with 3 rebid zones ready. Was given a book now at $72 option after my first bid but turned it down. Accepted at $63. For the past few days, I was unsuccessful up to $60.
  3. Been trying on and off for a bit but won this on my first try this morning. Very pleased to have this rate for New Year's...was expecting to have to pay a lot more. Going to town for Ravens/Bengals and this hotel is walking distance from the stadium. I've stayed here before and while I think 3.5* is a little generous, I'm very happy because of the location. I actually had put in 2.5*, so this was an upgrade.
  4. Looks like a new property for the list. I looked on HW earlier today and this was not an option. Reviews are mixed but it will be just fine for the price. :) Amenities: Fitness, Laundry, High-Speed Internet
  5. I've used both PL and HW a LOT and have never been treated poorly. I have noticed that occasionally I will get one of the smaller/older rooms based on other rooms I see in the same hotel but I think that's to be expected. I won't stay in places lower than 2.5* (I try for no lower than 3* but sometimes doesn't work out). I've never had a problem with poor service, a dirty room, or anything broken in the room. That said, I'm the kind of person who could honestly care less how I'm treated at the desk (within reason), and I usually opt to not have my room cleaned or sheets changed if I'm only there 2 nights. If you're worried about poor service, I'd just suggest not having any. Honestly -- do you change your sheets at home every night? :) To me, it's TOTALLY worth a bit of a nose snub upon check-in if it happens, to save the kind of money you're looking at saving. Just my .02. :) Enjoy your trip.
  6. Amenities: Fitness, Business, Laundry, Kitchenette Looks like a new property for the list. :) Bid history was $48-55 ($1 increments) at 2.5* on PL, then got tired of doing that with no rebid zones so just went ahead and did this.
  7. I'm good but thanks...not even sure if I'm going to use HOTWIRE for this trip. Just wanted to update everyone that the zone is now divided is all. :)
  8. Follow-up FYI, I ended up booking directly through Delta for this trip. It was a nice trip but I still hate flying!! :)
  9. The Athens zone has now been divided into 'Athens' and 'Athens West' on HW. (Working on a stay there, will post my win if I end up bidding for it.) Strange thing is that the only 2.5* reported as a HW win is the Holiday Inn Express, whose amenities exactly match a hotel I'm eyeing on HW. However, the hotel I'm looking at is in the "west" zone, but according to the Holiday Inn website, the only HIE in the Athens area is right downtown (well within the 'Athens' zone). So they've either mis-zoned this property, or I may end up with a new hotel to add to the list in a few days.
  10. Many, many failed bids starting at $39, with only a couple of "raise your price" offers ($56, $59, and $61 I think). Held my ground and got this win this morning. Rack rate is $107. :)
  11. Many, many failed bids in this region and star level in the $39-$43 range over the past couple of weeks. Previous threads on here indicate that some wins have been higher, but many have been at this price or lower. Just curious if anyone has any thoughts. Do you think I'm too early (a little over a month out) for this region? I'm a "plan ahead-er" by nature and usually have good luck with PL but maybe this region is different. Thanks! :)
  12. Began a few days ago at 3*/$37, upping by $1-$2 with one rebid zone. Finally accepted today. Was really hoping for the Crowne Plaza, but I think this being Easter weekend was driving the prices up and the selection down. Cheapest rack rate is $81. (They had what I believe to be the Crowne on Hotwire for $58, but for $10 per night cheaper, I think this will be fine.)
  13. Thanks. The trip isn't until June so I haven't made a decision yet. Will follow up when I do!
  14. Thank you both! I may actually end up booking the traditional way instead of bidding, but either way this is very helpful. :)
  15. Hi everyone, Is there a list on this forum of airline carriers you have won by bidding? I've had lots of success with hotels on Priceline, but have never tried bidding on flights, and as a very fearful flyer needing to book a cross-country flight, I'd like to make sure I get an airline I'll feel safe on. Do they only use the majors, or are some smaller airlines in there as well? (Not asking for the "airline travel is safe" lecture...I've heard it a million times. :) Just looking for a carrier list.) Thanks in advance!
  16. Going up for a football game. Was going to stay downtown but researched a bit and figured I could save quite a bit of money (both on hotel and downtown parking fees) staying out by the airport and taking the train into town. Started at $43, adding rebid zones in $1 increments until accepted. Very pleased. :)
  17. Began the other day at $36, with combos of rebid zones, etc, and no luck. Started today at $43 and got the "increase by $10" offer, and did so to book this property.
  18. Looking for a hotel in Lewisburg, WV for the dates mentioned. (FYI, HOTWIRE does not even have this listed as a zone.) PRICELINE only lists 1* and 2* available in this area. I have bid up to $43 for 2*, and up to $35 for 1* with no luck. Rack rates are ridiculously high for the hotel quality levels, which I blame on 1) holiday weekend, and 2) not many choices in the area. I will try a couple more bids in the coming days; would love to add a hotel in this zone to your PRICELINE list, but if that fails I will be booking the Super 8 for the not amazing AAA rate of $61/night. Sigh. Just when I thought I was becoming the queen of PRICELINE... :)
  19. Yeah...so I ate my words from the other thread yesterday and paid more than I wanted to. Oh well. Still a good deal for this hotel I think. :)
  20. As mentioned in another topic, my friend recently booked a room at the Crowne Plaza Asheville via Hotwire for $59. We have decided to go down a day earlier, and I was looking into booking it today. Really wanted to book at the Crowne so we could at possibly have the same room both nights, but it appears that property is not available on Hotwire for the night of 5/22, even though on the hotel site there are loads of room options available, so it's not sold out. Boo. Got on Priceline and tried many combinations of zone, star level, and price. Started at 3.5* at $38, went as high as $50 in increments of $2-$3, and then lowered star rating one level at a time all the way down to 2* out of desperation. Every bid was rejected. $50 is our absolute maximum for this night, and I really don't want to be in a dump either. Anyone see any obvious reason why all these bids are being rejected? I see on here that nice hotels, the Crowne especially, are going for this price on Priceline. Really I would be fine with anything 2.5* or above.
  21. Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby
  22. Crowne Plaza Asheville NC, $59, 5/23/10 - 5/24/10 via HOTWIRE Not sure of the amenities listed, since I'm not the one who booked it.
  23. My friend just booked a hotel for she and I, and *possibly* 1-2 other friends. Since we were unsure, she went with HOTWIRE instead of PRICELINE, and requested quad occupancy so we would be assured of having two beds in case the extra people stay. The hotel she won was the Crowne Plaza in Asheville, NC, for $59 (one night). This hotel is reviewed here: Asheville Crowne Plaza Review I just went to the hotel's website to compare our price with the rack rate, and noticed that there's a $12 fee per person, starting with the 3rd person. So this may add as much as $24, even if our other friends don't come, since we booked for 4 people? Or are we exempt from this fee, since the HOTWIRE total price should have been for four adults? I would not have booked the room at the rate of $83, which is what we may end up having to pay. (I did search the board for this before posting, and read a few threads, but couldn't really find a concrete yes or no answer. Does this policy vary by hotel? My only other similar experience was when I DID have to pay a $10 resort fee when I booked a hotel through PRICELINE, but I wasn't in the mood to fight it that time.)
  24. 3* North area, started at $33, rejected Added South as rebid at $35, accepted Cheapest rack rate is $79 so I'm happy. (Funny thing is that I went to read the review of this hotel here after I won this bid, and the review was made by ME, at this time last year, LOL. So I know I should be happy again there this year. I must be getting old...my memory is slipping away!!!)
