  1. There are no 2* hotels listed in the Forum for Fort Collins North. Here are the icons: Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Laundry Facilities, High-Speed Internet Access. Any idea what Hotwire hotel this might be?

  3. Any idea what 3* Hotwire French Quarter/Canal Street area hotel offers a free breakfast (along with 9 other amenity icons) on March 17 for two nights? Can't find anything with breakfast that matches any past wins. Thanks for your help! Deb Kendall
  4. We've booked the Hyatt at Gainey Ranch several times thru Hotwire (we're locals...and it's a FABULOUS hotel for a weekend getaway!) It was always Hotwire's only 4.5 star Resort hotel in North Scottsdale...so it was always a "guaranteed" booking (if there is such a thing.) Today, I was looking to book something for a weekend in Sept. (when it's usually still dirt cheap) and I couldn't find it listed anywhere. Backed up to every weekend in August and July...same thing. No 4.5 Star Resort in North Scottsdale at all...for any weekend. But mysteriously, during those same searches, there's a new 5-star Resort hotel that pops up...with all the same amenity icons...and with a 95% recommendation rating, etc. Soooooooo...is it more likely that 1) Hyatt Gainey Ranch is being upgraded to 5 stars in June..or 2) they don't release their rooms early to Hotwire and I just need to keep checking back? (We usually go last-minute, so I've never tried to book this far out.) Meanwhile, if that latter is true, do you have any idea which North Scottsdale Resort is the 5-star they have listed from July-Sept.?
  5. I meant to post it to PRICELINE. Sorry. And no, I don't need help bidding (been doing this for years). I just can't find a list of Priceline 4* hotels in Palm Springs. Do you know which one(s) it is/are?
  6. I'd appreciate any help. (I see several 4* Hotwire listings, but nothing for Priceline.)
  7. Just booked a room (after following your HOTWIRE link) for two nights for 2 adults/2 children. Got the "Ramada Limited Fountain Valley" (never heard of them before). Hmmm. Mixed reviews, but for the price, it's fine! :) 3 Icons: Breakfast, Pool, Internet
  8. Everyone else has won this property at 4 stars. Did you really win "Paradise Point" with a 3-star bid? Has it been downgraded? Thanks for your help. My friend REALLY wants this property, so I'd really appreciate any info you can provide.
  9. Thanks for all of your help! I used your link, and just won Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch (listed simply as "Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort" on Hotwire's confirmation page)! Yeah!!! It was listed as a 4.5* and I paid $99 for 2 adults/2 children for June 22. We're locals, and the kids LOVE to go there. Not only is the resort absolutely gorgeous, but the pools are incredible...including a sandy beach and slide where the kids play happily for hours. Then the acres (literally acres) of pools are lit up for night play. A truly "Wow!" experience. (For past birthday celebrations, I've let my girls bring friends and have a sleepover party there. Throw in a couple of pizzas and you have an extraordinary experience for relatively little expense.) What I DIDN'T know (before betterbidding) was that I could get that incredible hotel on Hotwire. Thanks again! You guys are amazing!!!
  10. Thank you so much for your help!!! I'll post my results soon. Meanwhile, I see others have bid and won this property (Hyatt Gainey Ranch) on PRICELINE. Priceline doesn't show any 4.5* and it's been won as a 4* there. Are there any other Priceline 4*'s in Scottsdale? Thanks again!!!
  11. How funny that I never realized there were MORE icons on the next page! You're right. There were two more. Spa and Child Activities. Does that narrow it down?
  12. Having looked through past successes, Hyatt Gainey Ranch was "won" as a 4.5 star. Hotwire now has TWO properties listed with the same icons Resort Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Internet Tennis Golf (Spa) (Childrens Activities) One is a 4.5* and the other is a 5*. I want desperately to get the Hyatt Gainey property...which...without a doubt...is the nicest "resort" in Scottsdale (maybe in the Galaxy). We've stayed there many times and it really is beyond fantastic So does anyone have a clue if it's been "upgraded" to a 5*? And if not, what the 5* property is??? Thanks a million!
  13. Yeah! We've stayed here before. Couldn't be closer to D-land. Decent rooms. No extra charges for parking, etc. Couldn't be happier! :) Details: Five icons: Fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, Internet 1 room @ $49.00 per night x 5 nights = $245.00 Tax recovery charge and fees $44.95 Total $289.95
  14. Found a 2.5* HOTWIRE property in Dana Point with the following three icons: Beachfront, Pool, Children's Activity Program. It lists for $99 for 2 adults from Oct. 3-5. Any ideas? Thanks!
  15. If it's in an upscale resort with large rooms, one bed would be fine and we'd just bring sleeping bags for the kids. So that's not a show-stopper. Also, there are three properties listed on Hotwire with the beach icon for Oct. 3-5. But that doesn't mean they're actually ON the beach, right? Just close? I guess that's why I wrote. I'm trying to figure out what's REALLY "on" the beach where no driving would be necessary to have that experience. Also, I read the thread on Paradise Pointe. Do you know if it's "on" the beach? Folks were complaining about the rooms but said the grounds were beautiful. If it fills the bill for beach access, I don't mind if the room accommodations are just average. Also, we'll be coming down to this area from Disneyland. So ANY beach-y place between Anaheim and San Diego would work. Where are the best beaches? Anything exceptionally kid-friendly? We don't have any specific destintaion in mind. Just some place to enjoy the beach/water. Thanks again!
  16. Sorry for leaving out so many details! Yes, we're a foursome. All female, so we only need one room with two beds for 2 or 3 nights, depending upon the rates we find. As far as our budget, naturally we'd like to do this as cheaply as possible. But for the right place (scenic/on the water/lots for kids to do/a really cool pool/etc.), $150+ a night is doable. If we have to drive and pay for most of our "beach experiences"/entertainment, I'd prefer paying around $55-ish a night for basic pillows and beds. Thanks again for your help! Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated! :)
  17. For all the negative comments, I did notice you mentioned the grounds were beautiful. Is this property right on the beach? Since we don't care about the room nearly as much as the location, this would probably work for us if there's a place for the kids to chase waves right out the front door. Thanks for everyone's help!
  18. First, thanks betterbidding, for all you do! I can't imagine making a reservation without you!!! Next: We're planning a family trip to Southern CA in October. I will be traveling with an elderly parent who's never seen the ocean and two young children. I'm trying to find a hotel within easy walking distance of the beach. Any recommendations for a PRICELINE or HOTWIRE property (and area) that fits that bill? Note: I'd rather book a LaQuinta-type property next to the beach than a 5-star resort 10 blocks away. Also, does anyone know of any such properties with pool slide(s) for the kiddos? Many thanks for any assistance you can offer.
  19. Just booked it. (It went up from $55 to $59. Bummer!) It's the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites at 1240 S. Walnut. I had thought that property had several more icons, but that's what I got with just those three. Hope this helps someone else. Thanks for this great forum! :)
  20. I have been reading other posts...but cannot matched a 3-star in Disneyland North with only 3 icons (fitness center, pool, resaurant). Any ideas? Thanks so much!
  21. I would have tried 2.5* on Priceline...but I had no idea if it was the same hotel as the one offered on Hotwire. The free breakfast (decent) that I knew was included at the Holiday Inn was worth more to me than taking a chance on paying a dollar or two less per night and not having that feature. Does anyone know the name of Priceline's 2.5* Disneyland hotel?
  22. :) Happy to report my latest success. After trying 22 combinations on Priceline and never "winning" a 3* for $44 or less, I booked through Hotwire. I 'knew' (from other reports on this site) that the 2.5* with 5 icons (Selected amenities include: Complimentary Breakfast, Pool(s), Fitness Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Laundry Facilities) was the Holiday Inn Express in Garden Grove. We stayed there in March and thought it was more than fine. Nice rooms...a more-than-decent continental breakfast including hard-boiled eggs and cinnamon rolls, etc. We haven't used the pools or other facilities as we only use our hotel as a place to rest between Disney jaunts. But this spot certainly gets decent feedback from others as well: reviews BTW: I always check out all hotels listed here on www.tripadvisor.com. You get the "real users scoop" there...no fluff! :) Bottom line: 1 room(s) @ $45.00 per night x 7 night(s) $315.00 Hotel Taxes and fees: $45.95 Hotel Subtotal $360.95 Total Price $360.95 Plus, I can use my $30 Entertainment Book rebate for Hotwire for a net cost of $330.95 for the seven nights (including breakfast). Not too shabby!
  23. Just wanted to let you know one drawback of this hotel. While most places in and around Anaheim INCLUDE parking, the Doubletree does not. They charge $8 per day to self-park...$10 for valet parking. I always hate to bid a 3-star in this area knowing that my bid may very well be "upped" by $8 a night to cover this ridiculous fee. It's just something of which folks should be aware...
