I wanted to follow up and let everyone know what happened with this Hotel. With the help of BetterBidding.com I was able to identify this hotel as The Imperial Palace. Hotwire was offering a rate of $39/night. With confidence that this was indeed The Imperial Palace I went to the Harrah's Web site where I'm a registered Total Rewards Member. I saw that the hotel was offering rooms for Total Rewards Members for $25/night. I immediately copied this information and purchased the hotel through Hotwire for $39/night. I then clicked the Low Price Guarantee from Hotwire and filled out the form and pasted the required information. I was then informed by Hotwire that I would receive a refund for for twice the difference effectively giving me a free night's hotel. But wait, it gets better. I arrived at the hotel at 8:30am, there were already people checking in and they were being told that rooms were not ready. They had to leave their bags with the bellman with no place to refresh after a long flight. I walked up to the counter with the biggest smile I could muster after a grueling flight, I addressed the clerk by his first name, 'Joe' (not his real name), and handed him my Total Rewards card with a $20 bill behind it and said "Joe, anything you can do for me would be fantastic, I know I'm early" At first he was about to say "I can advance check you in but rooms are not ready" but then he saw the tip, said "Let me find something for you right away Mr. C as I know you don't want to wait around" 3 minutes later I was checked in, key in hand, and he even gave me a coupon book where I saved another $20 on food and buffet's. All in all I think I got a free room, and a free meal just by using BetterBidding (no...I don't work for them I just love this site!!!)

Hey there, I followed the link on this forum for PRICELINE CAR RENTALS and I first tried $20/day yesterday but it was rejected. I tried $23/day for an Economy car and got Hertz. I've been a #1 Club Gold Member with Hertz for 6 years and the best price I could find was well over $400 for my rental, my total after tax with the Priceline CAR RENTAL link was $158.77. I think BetterBidding is the best helper site for travel on the internet...THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Josh, while I have never tried the $20 trick at Treasure Island I've been to Vegas a dozen times from Imperial Palace, The Rio, Caesars, Barbary Coast, Gold Coast, etc and it's NEVER failed. Good luck and remember 2 very important things...SMILE and address the hotel employee by their name.

Here is the trick. Let's say you've made 3 Priceline hotel requests for the ATL, Atlanta Airport, you tried 4 star, 3.5 star, and 3 star but just have not had your price accepted and you don't want to wait 24 hours to try again. Simple do this. Clear the search, and start over. Before you start the bid process, one at a time, click on the additional areas offered by Priceline until you find an area that only has star levels below what you're bidding for i.e if you won't stay in less than a 3 star, find a area where the highest star level is 2.5, this way you can bid an additional price without worrying about staying in an undesirable area. Here's what I just did and got the Hyatt Airport North for $43. I saw that several people had bid $34 at the ATL airport and got the Hyatt, but all of these were for multiple nights, I only am staying on Saturday. So I tried $34, $38, & $40 using the 4-star, 3.5-star, and 3-star levels to no avail. I didn't want to wait another 24 hours before trying again so I found that the Forest Park Riverdale area of Atlanta only offers 1 star hotels, I added this area, did my bid request by clicking the 3-star level for $43 and got the Hyatt with no worries about staying in Forest Park because I selected 3-star or better

You can use a Debit Card to purchase a room on Hotwire/Priceline but I highly suggest that you don't use it when you check in. Hotels will ask for a Credit Card for incidentals, if you give them a debit card you might have your funds "held" by the bank until the hotel clears it, sometimes up to 2 weeks after you check out. Always use a Credit Card at check-in for incidentals and never your Debit Card. Or just decline to give a card all together, you probably will have the PPV movies locked and no key to the mini-bar, but that's life.
