  1. Booked the Crowne Plaza in Crystal City for $85 a night using BetterBidding.com's HOTWIRE link. Looks like an updated amenities set for this hotel, which I thought at first might be the Hyatt Regency based on the amenities (except for the shuttle, which the Hyatt Regency apparently does have but hasn't listed in its Hotwire amenities set to date). Here's the amenities list for the Crowne Plaza: Airport Shuttle Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
  2. My travel partner and I decided that there was a specific hotel we wanted to stay in as a one-off in NY; it's not one that appears to come up often as a win on Priceline or Hotwire, so we just booked directly from the hotel. Not usually how I do things though - I'll be back to Hotwire on future trips and will be sure to use your site's links for my booking!
  3. Thanks everyone! I decided not to go with a Hotwire/Priceline option this time, but I'll be sure to book future trips using BetterBidding's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links. I agree that there's a strong likelihood this listing is for the brand new Dream Downtown; we'll see if anyone can verify this down the road.
  4. I've been digging around a bit to try to figure this out, since there appear to be virtually no hotels in this part of Manhattan with pools, let alone 4.5* hotels that also have pools. Any chance this could be the Hotel Gansevoort (in the Meatpacking District)? It seems to match the amenity profile, and I could see it qualifying as a 4.5*. Biggest strike against it is that it's technically a couple blocks south of this region's border. But since the absolute location of the hotel doesn't overlap with any of the Hotwire regions, maybe they put it in Chelsea/MSG?
  5. Used your HOTWIRE link and am looking at a listing on Hotwire for the night of 8/6/11 at $219, for a 4-1/2 star hotel in the Chelsea/Madison Square Garden region. Might be a new property - Hotwire's still "collecting reviews" on the hotel. I couldn't figure it out based on the Hotwire hotel list; it's got all the same amenities as the the Hilton New York Fashion District (formerly the Wyndham Fashion 26), except that it's got a pool, something the Hilton doesn't have. Here are the amenities: - Boutique - Smoke Free Rooms - Fitness Center - Pool(s) - Restaurant(s) - Business Center - High-Speed Internet Access Any possible ideas on this property would be appreciated - thanks!
  6. Booked this 2.5-star a couple weeks ago using your site's HOTWIRE link. I got it for $58/night at that point; if the same place is listed now, it looks like the price has gone up somewhat since then. Here are the listed amenities: - 1 Bedroom Suite - Fully-equipped Kitchen - Free Parking - Daily Housekeeping - Air Conditioning - Fitness Center - Pool(s) - 24-hour Front Desk - High-Speed Internet Access - Condo It's not listed, but the place also has shuttles to the Strip, Downtown, and also to the grocery store (nice to have with the kitchen). Also looks like they've had construction going on there for a while. Still, very pleased!
  7. They had a tornado in Atlanta a couple years ago that apparently blew out a lot of the windows at the Westin, so they're changing all the windows to keep the look of the hotel uniform (the exterior is made up of basically nothing but windows). I'll be sure to let the board know if it gets too breezy in there :)
  8. I can give this thread some closure - I made my purchase using your HOTWIRE link and found out that this listing is for the Westin Peachtree Plaza. Looks like they're in the middle of a massive window-replacement project, so that's probably the reason for the deal. In any case, I'm happy with the way things turned out. Thanks as always!
  9. I'm trying to identify a 3.5-star listing on Hotwire for 8/14-8/16, 1 guest (found through your HOTWIRE link). The property's currently listed at $69 per night. I'm assuming it's either the Westin Peachtree or the Sheraton based on the digging I've already done on the site - any new leads on differentiating the two properties? The customer satisfaction's currently listed at 4.0, which is interesting, since I thought both of the possible properties had 3.0s. Amenities are: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center Any advice would be appreciated!
  10. I have booked this hotel through HOTWIRE (using your links) and am happy to report this listing was indeed the Aloft Portland Airport, not advertising its full range of amenities.
  11. Thanks for your reply - it makes me more likely to purchase it. I may wind up waiting to see how that thread about the RiverPlace/Larkspur turns out before booking this one, since the reviews there are even more spectacular. In any case, I'll report back with the outcome and will be sure to use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links here to make my purchase.
  12. Hey all, I'm trying to ID this particular hotel and am hoping it's the Aloft, based on the glowing reviews. Only amenities listed are: Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Hotwire's saying it's recommended in 90% of customer reviews. Anyone think my guess is correct?
  13. Excellent find - thank you very much! I had looked at Hotwire before for this trip, but when typing the name of the city on the Hotwire frontpage, I'd clicked on the "New Orleans, LA (MSY)" airport link instead of the link for New Orleans proper - this only returned airport hotels and a hotel in Metairie. Using the HOTWIRE link, I booked the $63 4* hotel downtown, and you were correct: this was the Hilton St. Charles Ave., which is using its Boutique designation. I can also report that according to a receptionist at the hotel, both the pool and the fitness center at this property have recently re-opened; this is contrary to what Hilton lists on its website about the property. I thought maybe the pool/fitness center maintenance was the reason for the great deal and was prepared to accept no pool and no gym, but if they're open as the receptionist says, the deal is that much better.
  14. I've been trying to bid for a room either Downtown or at the Convention Center for the day after Mardi Gras through that Sunday, but have not had any success. I started yesterday by bidding in the $65 range for 4* hotels in these areas and fell short. Since then I've widened my bids to include 3.5* and 3* in the same areas, and am now up to an unsuccessful bid of $90 a night. I have to think that the proximity to Mardi Gras (even if it is the day after) is messing me up, and I'm considering splitting my stay in two: the Wednesday night at an airport hotel, and the rest of the stay downtown (if I succeed at bidding). Very hesitant to do this, but I'll do it if I have to. Anyone think I should keep raising my bid, split my stays across two hotels, or give up on Priceline entirely for this trip?
  15. Will do, I'll be sure to use the links! The Aruba thread has now been updated, thank you for the reminder.
  16. A final update as requested. I saw in someone else's post way back when that there was a phenomenal deal at the Westin through Easy Click Travel - I know this board no longer works with them, but a 6-night stay in an oceanview room with breakfast for less than $1000 was too good to pass up (this was a blind booking). The deal appears to have expired, but I pounced. I'll be sure to use the appropriate HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links when working through these sites in the future!
  17. $125 bid accepted for a Friday night stay in July at The Benjamin. Thought for sure I was going to get the Hyatt after reading this forum, but not many people for July yet. Need to fit more than 2 people, so I'm going to see about an upgrade (or, failing that, I'll just get another room).
  18. Thanks for the suggestion, Flightmedic - I may wind up going through PRICELINE instead. I'm a bit wary about Priceline because I see on the Priceline forum here that the Renaissance is an occasional match, and I've decided that I definitely do not want to stay at the Renaissance (too close to Oranjestad itself, too close to the airport, and I'd like to be on the beach itself). I'm sure it's a lovely place, but it's not for me! If I could be sure that I'd get the Westin or the Marriott through Priceline (as opposed to the Ren), I'd definitely do it - those rates cannot be beat. Whatever I do, I'll definitely go through your PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links - this site is an absolute godsend.
  19. Thanks very much! I'm holding off on booking for a little while but will confirm when/if I do, and will certain use your link to do so.
  20. Clearly it's too late for your trip, but for posterity, I booked the Sheraton Newton and it strongly resembled the place you're suggesting. I don't recall the amenities listed when I booked, but the Sheraton Newton has those four things and not much else (the business center is a single computer, so take that for what it's worth). The Sheraton is a quirky place right on top of the Massachusetts Turnpike, which can be a little noisy during the day but isn't a problem at night. It's also across the street from a few bus lines that take you into the heart of Boston. It's a good value option.
  21. Hello all, thanks for reading; I've been scanning this forum looking for a match for this Aruban hotel, but I haven't found one, so I figured I'd post away. I've searched for a 4-star hotel in Aruba (for the dates 7/20-7/26 of 2009) currently priced at $174 a night. Here are the amenities they've listed: - Resort - Beachfront - Casino - Fitness Center - Pool(s) - Restaurant(s) - Business Center - Laundry Facilities - High-speed Internet Access - Golf Nearby - Tennis Nearby - Spa Services Apologies if I've overlooked the answer to this one somewhere on the forum, but thanks for any input you may have! (Some clues and anti-clues; I doubt it's the Hyatt because there's no "children's activities" identified in the listing I'm working from. Shouldn't be the Renaissance either, as this listing is Beachfront and the Ren appears to be "near beach." I suspect this is a listing for the Westin, although the lack of "spa services" indicated on other Westin threads clouds things a bit.)
