  1. Thur BB PRICELINE Link 2 nights, 12/31 & 1/1 Miami (Downtown) $56/night 4* - Denied 3.5* - Denied 3* - Accepted Hilton Miami Downtown 1601 Biscayne Blvd Miami, FL 33132 I expect to take a cab directly from MIA to South Beach, probably passing right by the Hilton, not to return until New Years festivities are complete. I could have gotten away with only one night (1/1), but ya never know...it is Miami after all :) This puts me somewhat in-between South Beach and Dolphin Stadium, right where I want to be. BTW, I contacted the Hilton and they indicated that "most" of the exterior construction reported in various reviews will be completed by 12/31. I hope so, but either way, I'm a happy boy! Thanks for all the help, in the previous priceline post for the second leg of my stay, and for the many previous winning bids I owe to BB.
  2. Been trying to gnab a room for 5 nights, 12/31 - 01/05, to celebrate New Years and a Hokie WIN at the Orange Bowl :) Bid unsuccessfully from $50-58 for all five nights: 12/31 - 01/05 Resort - 2* South Beach, Miami Beach and even Downtown Miami. I was offered a $14 up-bid opportunity on $50 ($64 offer) for a 2.5* in the Downtown Miami area. I wasn't able to determine with any certainty which hotel I would win, and accounting for cab fares to and from the beach, I did not go this route. I figured that the first two nights, 12/31 - 01/01, would be a little tricky. Used the BB PRICELINE Link. $60 Bid 01/03 - 01/05 Resort - Denied (duh) 4* - Denied 3.5* - Denied 3* - Accepted Doubletree Surfcomber Hotel Miami-South Beach 1717 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139 Attempted to extend stay for 01/01 - 01/02, unsuccessfully. I was however able to win the same hotel on a seperate bid, for the night of 01/02. Looking at the various reviews, this should work well for the GF and I, and the price is certainly right ($200-300 list price). Any tips for the nights of 12/31 and 01/01 would be greatly appreciated! We would like to stay on the beach still, but if the price is right, I would consider staying in other regions closer to dolphin stadium (Downtown, or Miami Lakes). Thanks BB!
  3. Multiple attempts at bidding two rooms at 3* for less than $75/night were unsuccessful. I was nervous about the 2.5* hotels based off of the location/reviews of other winning posts. Bid Strategy: Downtown Norfolk, 2.5* @ $50 Added Chesapeake Bowers Hill, 2.5* @ $55 Courtyard By Marriott Norfolk Downtown 520 Plume Street Norfolk, Virginia 23510 757-963-6000 Your Offer Price: $55.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $55.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $15.83 Total Charges*: $70.83 Very happy to have received a different 2.5* hotel than previous winning posts. The reviews of the Courtyard Marriott on non-affiliated sites seem positive. I will post my review next week. Thanks to the site and admins for you previous advice! J
  4. Scratch that. Likely will get the Radisson or the Clarion and I just can't deal with the reviews or the exact location. TIA
  5. Wanted two rooms, 9/13-14 @ Downtown Norfolk. I reviewed recent bids that were declined at $65, up to $70 I believe. I was trying to stick to a budget of $175 though, so here were my bids: Downtown Norfolk: $60 Added Bowers Hill: $63 Added Chesapeake Suffolk: $68 Added Naval Base: $72 Think I have hit a dead-end :( Supposed to be a "nice" night out, but I may just give in and add 2.5*... Any other advice would be helpful. TIA
