  1. Sorry not to have replied before. That trip we stayed at the Residence Inn (around 39th, as I recall) for around $225. It was a decent breakfast and location, the elevators were slow. Didn't use HOTWIRE or PRICELINE, best rate was on the hotel website.
  2. Thanks, I'll go back to that other thread to post. We needed a room for three that time, so booked directly and not PRICELINE / HOTWIRE. Not sure what triggered my memory, but I realized we have ICH points and can stay at the Holiday Inn 5th Ave for free this trip, right in our price range!
  3. If the Doubletree suites, the rate of $207 would be fantastic. Really tempted to book this, though I don't really "need" the suite for our trip 6/16-6/19. Tried my limit on PRICELINE bids today up to $150 for 3*, no sale. This listing says includes suite, kitchenette, smoke-free, internet, fitness center and Empire State area? But I guess that can't be the Doubletree - anyone know what it is? I'd rather pay $150...but this is tempting. Will I have more success with PRICELINE bidding as the dates get closer? Son and I are very flexible, we really could stay almost anywhere and roll with whatever amenities there are, though I do hope for a smoke-free room close to transportation. We intend to see shows both Thursday and Friday evening, so it would be nice to be near theaters but we'll also be going north to museums and south to Chinatown.
  4. Thanks for the quick reply! Hotwire had rooms at 412 per night in the theater district - ouch! I understand what you're saying about the rooms with Priceline; Hotwire would be safer.....but to save more than $200 per night we're willing to take the risk that someone ends up on a rollaway....or worse. A King bed would be okay for two of us, the only disastrous outcome is that the room only accommodates two people and there isn't any room for a rollaway. But again, at a certain level of savings I can sleep on an air mattress! And I'm hoping that the majority of rooms in the majority of 4* hotels can sleep 3 people, yes?
  5. I'd sure like to score the win another poster did for a similar time frame, the Hilton Times Square for $152. I could use some help on bidding, I really don't want to end up winning a small room since we will need two beds for the three of us. Would I be safe (not 100%, I know, but at least 75%?) if I restricted my bid to certain zones? Which ones? All suggestions appreciated! It is a girls weekend for my mom, sister and me; ideally we'd be able to walk to the theaters and TKTS booth.
