  1. One night October 26, two rooms, rate on Hotwire is $91.00. Amenities: Free Internet Pet friendly Boutique Hotel Near Beach Airport Shuttle Pool(s) Restaurant(s) High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Looks to me like the Catalina Club. Thanks!
  2. Purchased on HOTWIRE, Hilton Miami Airport, $80.00 ($98.46 total). That works too!
  3. Bidding on hotel in MIA zone 8/26, 4* for an overnight layover (need airport shuttle). Found from previous research which zones do not have 4* for rebidding. Willing to go to $75. Used PRICELINE link above. - Started at $60 with MIA zone. No luck. - Added Aventura, raised to $65. Denied. - Added North Miami, rasied to $70. Turned down. - Added Miami Airport West - Doral, raised to $75. Turned down. Going over to try Hotwire. Will use link above.
  4. Used the link above left to book the hotel on Hotwire. Ended up with the Hilton Miami Airport for $77 ($95.46 total). That works!
  5. I understand the reasons for moving the thread, thanks! I do need MIA so I can be relatively sure there is an airport shuttle. Also understand differences in star levels, that is why I was trying to identify property. Thanks all for the help.
  6. we are on our way to St. Lucia from CMH and there is an overnight layover in Miami.
  7. I am afraid I do not understand. It looks like you moved my Priceline bidding thread to here, so you can see that I have bid twice on Priceline MIA area without success. The bids were refused at a price level that was well above the $77 Hotwire quote. Am I missing something?
  8. Have been trying to get a hotel via PRICELINE with no luck, so checked out Hotwire. Used HOTWIRE search button above left. Found 4* Miami Intl Airport are hotel. 1 night Aug 18. $77/night, 80% recommendation. Amenities: Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Can you identify? Thanks for the help!
  9. HOTWIRE (using your link above) as one in the MIA area for $77. Going to hop over that forum and see if I an identify it. Will report back. Thanks!
  10. Makes perfect sense, that is what I thought I did, but obviously did something wrong. So giving it another try using the link you gave me above. Trying for a 4* in the Airport area. Found 7 areas without 4*'s. - Started at $70 in MIA area. Turned down. - Added North Miami (max 2*) and went to $75. Turned down again. - Added Aventura (max 3*), went to $80. Turned down again. That is the max I am willing to do right now. Will come back later and try again.
  11. Yep, I thought that is what I did! I will probably go and try to rebid tomorrow. Thanks for the help!
  12. Well, when I checked it was only the two that did not have 4*'s in them. I will have to look again, thanks!
  13. The problem with rebidding other areas is, because this is an overnight layover, I need to have an airport shuttle to get me back and forth. If I go to far away I won't be 90% sure of having the shuttle. Not sure I am willing to go much higher. Could go down to a 3*. Not sure which direction to go. I will probably give it 24 hours and try $5 more. If that does not work I may try a different path to cheapness.
  14. Working on getting a hotel near the Miami airport for an overnight layover Saturday August 18. First checked to see where there were no 4*'s in the area. Found Miami Lakes and Southwest Miami areas had no 4*'s. Starting by bidding $50 for a 4* including only the Airport area. Turned down. Added Miami Lakes, bumped to $55, turned down. Added Southwest Miami, bumped to $60, turned down. Giving up for the time being, may try again later. I did use your PRICELINE link!
  15. Thanks for the info! I did some checking and it appears to be only 4 or so blocks to Pike Place Market, and just a couple of blocks from the monorail that goes to where the Space Needle is.
  16. Well, tried again today, added 3.5* to my choices, and had to go all the way up to $125 pp, but was accepted. Ended up with the Red Lion on 5th Avenue, $125.00pp. The dates are June 2-4, one room, two people. The best rate I could find on-line was $169, so definately saved some cash. I did use your link to the Priceline site. I had to go $25pp over my budget, but it looks like this time in Seattle is an expensive one, and reviews are good for Red Lion. Thank you for your help!
  17. That is awesome! If you have a blog, I would post it there! :) That really tells me I am using a decent strategy here. Bid early up to my comfort level. If it is not accepted, wait a week or so and try again. If it gets close to the trip I either have to decide to raise my budget or lower my **** rating. The chances of not being able to find a room anywhere are relatively low, and I just might get lucky and get a good deal. I am still considering dropping a star level on this bid, but for the time being I think I am going to wait a week and go through the same bidding process. Does that make sense?
  18. Well, I pushed it all the way to $115 and no luck, denied every time. I will have to decide if I am willing to go higher, or add 3* to the mix. I will let you know.
  19. Well, I have done it before, but not terribly often, so here is what I think I see. Areas without 4* ------------------ Bothelle Kirkland Lake Union Lynwood-Edmonds Mukilteo - South Everett North Everett Renton Seattle Airport Seattle Center Univ. of Washington
  20. OK, thanks. I just need to make sure the other zones I use do not have 4* listings in them first, correct? I will let you know how it goes!
  21. Considering the amount of time I have, I think I would like to start lower and work up. It looks like there are hotels in those zones going for between $70-$90 in earlier months. I think I will start around $80 and work my way up. If I get to $100 I will have to decide what to do at that point. Seem reasonable?
  22. I have looked at rates, but did not have the comparison to know they were higher during that week, thank you for that information. Depending on how much more I have to go for a 4*, I would be willing to go to a 3*. Hum. After looking a little closer there may not even be a 4* in the space needle zone. I really do not prefer one zone over the other.
  23. Sorry, thought I had followed up clearly enough with the Geneva trip. Clarified. 4*, budget is partly dependent on what the going rates are, but I would say $100/night max before taxes/fees. Of course I would like to get significantly less.
  24. Thought I was clear enough, but I guess not, I decided I could not get a hotel for the price I was looking for, so I did not purchase. Went witha B&B.
  25. Looking for one room, two people June 2-4. Would like Seattle Pike Place (first choice) or Space Needle. Any bidding suggestions?
