  1. Thanks yet again! I think what you say makes a lot of sense & will endeavour to stay in the Centre if I can. Emailed the Warwick to ask about fees etc and they replied: Taxes is 14.75% plus $3.50 occupancy room charge per day , facility fee is $25.00 per day plus taxes So just to confirm does that mean if I book through Priceline or Hotwire I would not have to pay the 14.75% and $3.50, only the 'facility fee'.
  2. Thank you for that detailed reply @thereuare The flight would be an extra £100 or so for both of use, so around $125 or so. As such seems to me that 30 August would be the better date as get that and more back from savings on the room rates. Any chance to see NYC when it is a bit quieter sounds good to me, given how busy the City is! Warwick, if it is that, does look very nice. It has a resort fee of $25 per room per night. Would that incorporate the City Tax or would that be another fee on top do you know? This is how they word it: A $25 facility fee is applicable per room per night and is subject to 8.875% tax. Also I heard a reviewer a while back saying to stay out of the Centre as a lot more reasonably priced & transport links are very good, plus you can get some Hotels that have stunning view of New York over the river. Unfortunately I cannot remember the area he was talking about!
  3. @thereuare thank you for you reply. My threads are very old and from memory I do not think I went with the bids, sorry I should have updated them before. Can they be deleted please? Regarding NYC I am flexible with the dates , travelling on the 29/30th may be a possibility although it would be an extra £100 or so flights. But from what you are saying we may save that on hotels, also do you think it would be better to be there for Labor Day weekend? As for finalising dates there is some flexibility so would depend on flights/hotel costs really. As to budget we are aware that hotels in NYC are expensive, $150 sounds good and about on budget! Also I have read about a nightly residents fee, is this included or is that payable on top?
  4. Hi all Looking to take a trip to NYC in the first 2 weeks of this September for 5-7 days. Don't mind walking, using public transport but would also like to be fairly central to the main tourist attractions. We have been to Paris, Rome, Venice & live in London so fully understand that NYC is expensive, and won't be expecting a palatial suite the size of a football (soccer if you must!) pitch! But would like a reasonably sized room that is clean & functional, so probably 3*? Any tips for areas, what we would be looking to pay and anything else would be gratefully received. As I say I am a complete noob to NYC so apologies if the post is a little vague but will update as I learn if that is OK? Thanks for reading P
  5. Probably prefer one of them rather than Grand. Any advice on a bidiing strategy from here would be appreciated. Should i go up in stages or try $160?
  6. Preference is 4* Moevenpick but would settle for 5* Grand K. Should i go straight to $160 or up in stages as still have few days and 2 accounts Thanks WillTravel

Any suggestions for hotels and best areas to stay (and of course avoid!)would be gratefully received, as would we for things to do etc. As it is our first time in Paris and it a short stay we want to be central to as many tourist attractions as possible. Thanks
  12. Sorry should of said that i am reqesting 4* and therefore 5* Hotels Thanks
  13. Am looking to make a further rebid in couple of hours. Could someone please answer the following: 1. Does the 24 hours before you can bid again start from the time of the original bid or the rebid 2. I made bid through Betterbidding link to make original bid and sign up to PL. Do i need to keep going through link to benefit Betterbidding or can i just go into PL via the email they sent me or just signing in. Thanks again to everyone who has or can assist
  14. BIDDING UPDATE Just to update an my bidding and any help , assistance or suggested further strategies would be gratefully received, thanks. Have decided to bid through US site. Previous bids (US only): 6/9 $125 Museum City Centre(MCC) - Declined 6/9(Rebid) $130 MCC & North(N) - Declined 7/9 $132 MCC - Declined but offered alternative 'offers' Further my Wife has set up a US accaount and made the following bid: 7/9 $133 - Counteroffer of $175 (was previuosly offered a higher counterbid on UK site) Thanks for reading and any help greatly appreciated
  15. 18-21 Sept 08. Would rather the Moevenpick, not bang in the centre but i don't think it is that badly located. Even bearing in mind Sciamao's review of the Grand and some others i've read i think if it comes in at $150(max) per night inclusive then it is still a reasonable price. And if the room is rubbish then i will attend reception and scream and scream and scream until i'm sick! Or they give us a better room!
  16. Done some research, is TOBB? Sorry if not allowed to mention even the initials!
  17. Please excuse my ignorance, i am a noob. What is TOBB? Decided that if we get the Grand K will take it and if room not up to scratch will complain very loudly in reception. If i get nowhere will continue my complaint next day at 3pm, the busiest check in time and when reception will be at its busiest! Thanks
  18. Thanks WillTravel It is a conundrum!
  19. Want to be within 10 min taxi journey of city centre. South seems to be the 4* Holiday Inn Amsterdam De Boelelaan which i would like to avoid as well. Reviews OK but not great. Definitely not Schipol/Airport and nobody seem to have won anything recently in East. Can go up to $175 a night or maybe more but concerned about Grand K as seems to come up as 15-20% more than the Moevenpick, our preference. May just be out of rooms for there though!
  20. Thanks Thereu are, i had not noticed that thread and it is very helpful. Do you think i can restart a new strategy in $ via the .com site or i am i screwed now they have my details. Is this what you were trying to bring to my attention in the non-US thread: I would be grateful is this is confirmed as i cannot find it on priceline TandCs Ignore above as have found, was looking in the wrong place. Can't see the woods for the trees!!! Please could anyone provide me with a bidding strategy from here on in, thanks
  21. Splitting not an option unless really desperate! If rates go up substantially whhy search with child, why? I am probably being stupid but its gone 3am here! Thanks again
  22. Thanks Thereuare and WillTravel I made CCMQ 4* bid for $98 (
  23. Further to post above i should add that i want to avoid the Gand Hotel K, thanks
